I was talking about a literal car alarm.

As for this video, I concede that it contains music. But to my ears, it's not anything I would consider good music. The voices grate on my nerves.

Consider the flip side of this. Everything I've just said, I've heard other people say about some of the music I like, such as musical theatre. They can't understand how I can love something like "Fiddler On the Roof" or a rock opera like "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" or a Yanni concert.

Even cats have opinions about music. My first cat, Cassandra, had the same opinion of the soundtrack to Oliver! that my grandfather had. Both of them hated it, probably because it was loud, brassy, and Jack Wild (he played the Artful Dodger) was an enthusiastic singer, but not a good one. So she wasn't into musical theatre. But when I put on a record of Strauss waltzes, she settled down and listened to it.
But one difference Valka... is that I like "Fiddler on the Roof", and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and Yanni... well I'm lying about Yanni... I can't say I am a Yanni fan... but I am at least familiar with Yanni, and I am willing to give his music a chance now and then...

So give my LL Cool J song a chance Valka... its the weekend :)

Let me just add that I have been enjoying this thread more than any other in a long time :D Five-person Hugs :grouphug: and Hi-Fives :high5: all around... BTW... Listening to Written On the Wind by Yanni as I am writing this.;)
BTW this was my Dad's (may he rest in peace) all time favourite Indiana Jones scene.

I did give it a chance. It got more of a chance than just the 25 seconds asked for. I didn't like it.

But thank you for linking the Yanni music. I hadn't heard that one before.

Yes, it's the weekend... and I need to get my NaNoWriMo done - writing a bit every day is good discipline for the big event in November.

The 25 seconds request wasn't for the song I posted. That was for a different song. You can listen to what I posted for as long or as little as you like.

Assuming you do listen to the one I posted... regardless of whether you actually like it... do you find it grating? Do you see any musical value in it?

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Which post was yours in?

Right.

Can confirm. Mel Gibson did start the Scottish parliament.

Are you implying that I am old?

Well, compared to most here, I am.

Top five fives:

5) Jackson Five
4) Take Five
3) Slaughterhouse Five
2) Civ V
1) Five Guys

Yeah, civ 5 might be a top 5 civilization game just because civ 6 is slightly worse. But that's it.

And no star wars episode 5?!

Worst human characteristics

Envy
Petulance
Self loathing
Narrow mindedness
Unreliability

Any list that doesn't have anxiety and/or irrational fear on it is super flawed.

anxiety and phobias are way to easily recognized to be amongst the worst

Greed should on that list.

(My Favourite) 5 Anti-war songs.

1. Jacques Brel - Au Suivant.
2. The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Next (or Au Suivant :))
3. Talking Heads - Life During Wartime
4. Fun Boy Three - The More I See
5. Arlo Guthrie - Alice’s Restaurant Massacree

These are the worst you can come up with? Jeez.. I know I am guilty of 4/5, probably 5/5. I would even go as far and say that every person in the world is guilty of narrow mindedness and envy at one point in their lifes.

Top 5 versions of the song "Pablo Picasso".

1. Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers.
2. Burning Sensations.
3. John Cale.
4. The Babies.
5. David Bowie.
9999. Talking Heads (despite having some original members of The Modern Lovers).

Man I love you. Best list so far. Whats your fav Jonathan Richman song? Mine is probably "I was dancing in a lesbian bar" or "she cracked"

top 5 ways to fill your weekend with existential dread

5. watch a sad movie
4. watch a sunset
3. look at old pictures from your social media sites that you don't use anymore
2. listen to sad music
1. exist

5. Porn binging
4. Browsing for media (like, the browsing is the activity)
3. Smoking a lot of pot regularly
2. Hanging out with people who deny will-to-power who like to discuss how things work
1. Being in your 20s

These are usually things that make me feel happy, with the exception of porn and social media, which if anything just leave me feel drained ( ;) )

I wonder now: Do you watch sad films / listen to sad music because you like feeling sad? Or do you resonate with the person creating it? Personally I think melancholy is the most beautiful of emotions so I revel in it whenever possible. Self-loathing can be very cathartic at times, but can also be the opposite.

Honestly, existential dread is something that hasn't hit me in a long time, if anything what bothers me most in life is that my ambition soars high while my willpower does not keep up. But I would suppose everyone has that feeling, some stronger and some weaker. After all, if we could all just "go out and DO IT" then there would not be a billion dollar industry for self-help books

Its funny how the same things manage to evoke opposing feelings in people. Sometimes I wonder if I dont "really enjoy" music like low or authors like pessoa, because enjoying their art makes me feel happy. My reaction seems inappropriate somehow.

However there is some music I can just be sad to. I call this kind of genre breakup-core. Band name is as fitting as it gets.

Personal favorite: 2. You Won't Meet A Girl Sat In Your Room Listening To Music (But Some Songs Can Still Give You Butterflies)

The thing most deeper fans of rap don't understand: a Tribe Called Quest is some of the least musicallly accessible in the genre.

Dude, my 6 year old cousins vibe out to "Push it Along" or "Bonita Applebum". In terms of accessibility I would say almost everyone can enjoy the instrumentals for what they are.

This however has little to do with contrarians patting themselves on the back for not liking something, which is just childish posturing that I only normally see in 15-year old metal and classic rock fans :)
