Top 5s

One time I spilled a solo cup full of the whiskey with a bit of Dr pepper in it on my laptop, which completely destroyed it, the laptop was on its way anyway but I lost a lot of...uh...resourcefully obtained files on that hard drive :( This was in 2013 so a lot of torrents that I got back in the 00s weren't around anymore.

Wait Strongbow the...cider?

Strongbow the fizzy substitute for actual cider.
Remember at this stage of my life I was hanging around in the yard outside the school disco drinking.

Top 5 cheap beers:

5. Miller Lite/Coor's lite - a tad too pricey for this category
4. Busch Lite - Now we're talking cheap!
3. PBR - use to be a king but it's too trendy now and I'm not sure it's even cheap anymore due to its popularity
2. High life - Miller's cousin from the other side of the tracks
1. Rolling rock - like a poor's mans heiniken. And by poor I mean totally broke and busted.

Don't forget Hamms and Old Style.  oh, and schlitz.

Top 5 cheap beers:
1. Narragansett lager - Featured in the film Jaws. This is my cheap beer of choice today.
2. Lionshead - In my (admittedly-hazy) memories, this was $10 a case back in the mid-90s. Is that possible?
3. Glacier Bay - Do they make this anymore? I haven't seen it in 25 years. There was a circular indentation on the bottom of the bottle, with grooves in it, that you could use as a bottle-opener.
4. Red Dog - We used to get this by the pitcher while throwing darts. It did the job.
5. Rolling Rock - This was the common beer in the rock clubs of days of yore, not sure if it still is.

Considering I can currently get a case of Miller Genuine Draft for less that $15. I would think so.
Trying to remember the name of the beer we got in college for a case of returnable bottles it was under 3 bucks.
Really awful bear.

Old Milwaukee is a know cheap-end brand. Schlitz, too.

Yeah old milwaukee is super cheap but didn't make my list. I think many of those others you name are regional. I looked up old style before since it was in better call saul and seems you can only get it around chicago or something. I was going to list strohs but I think it's detroit area only. It's a pretty decent bavarian style pils. They just brought it back after many years of the company being closed. I have seen red dog around but never tried it.

I really like yuengling and it's just regular domestic prices, not super cheap but same as bud and miller brands, and it's heaps better. But sadly not for sale in michigan.

Exactly... If you're trying to get drunk fast and/or cheap... on cider... you're doing it wrong. :p

Cider is pretty cheap here in the UK and it doesn't take much to get a bunch of 15 year olds drunk. In later years I think Thunderbird and Tennants Super replaced it but they weren't around in my teens and most UK beer was pretty weak in those days.

edit: Also the aim wasn't to get falling over drunk, just get a pleasant buzz on but be able to walk home afterwards without our parents noticing we were drunk (or at least not so drunk they felt obliged to do something about it).

Weekly limit? Minimum price allowed by law?

Weekly limit is health guidelines on how much you should drink, not a law. I spent my first 30 years regularly exceeding it but since then have rarely come near it except at Xmas.
Minimum price is a measure health pressure groups have been trying to get passed into law which would prevent supermarkets selling very cheap booze. So far they have failed.

I can't believe you guys don't have Natural Light (AKA Natty) or Milwaukee's Best (AKA Beast) on these lists.

Oh God Hamms. Brings back way too many memories of awkward college parties.

Cheapest beer I willingly drink these days is Grain Belt Nordeast. (They have that down in Illinois, right?)

It has come into force in Scotland, as well as other restrictions such as prohibiting multi-buy offers and placement of alcohol products in stores.

There's an on-going to debate as to whether this represents a progressive concern for public health, or retrograde Presbyterian moralism. It's plausibly both.

Cheap cider used to be the British equivalent of malt liquor, including the oversized bottles. Quoting the Wikipedia entry for a popular brand, "when sold on special at liquor stores, 3 litre plastic bottles of 8.4% White Lightning could be purchased for less than £2."

I didn't realise they'd passed such a law in Scotland. I've always been a bit unsure about how well it would work but hopefully it will and Wales will follow Scotlands example.

I think Schlitz is the only beer I've sobered up by drinking. >.> <.< >.>

I think they've passed something like that out in Boston/Massachusetts but I could be wrong. Seemed like the office workers screwing over the street crews from what I saw, if that was the case. Which isn't super surprising.

The "ice" variations particularly.

I do sort of like Old Style. Didn't realize it was limited regional. Ice House also gets the job done at 5.5, just avoid Ice House EDGE. That isn't mostly like malt liquor, it is malt liquor. Unless of course you're looking for malt liquor.
