Update 4

Events:

BRITONS: Fighting begins on the island of Ireland, where the native celts are not quick to give up to the Britons. Expansion slows here.

ZULU: Great battles happen between the organized barbarians, and the Zulu once again display their unique quality for great fighting.

ARABIA: Out of the sand dunes of Arabia, the Arabs join to create a Caliphate in Mecca.

VIKINGS: An expedition is sent to Finland, and when they land, they encounter Khaevan settlers unescorted. Even though the order was not given, the Vikings attacked the settlers and destroyed the party. This halted any Khaeven expansion and made way for the Vikings.

KHAEV: A beach head is made in Ireland, put this is clearly a military maneuver...there are no settlers with the Marines. Copper Age is reached.

TANTRIA: The Caspian Sea is reached, and the navy transported to its shores. Copper Age is reached.

EGYPT: Lower Egypt is able to destroy the guards at Thebes and the city is taken, yet kept in tack. Meanwhile, the Upper Egyptian Pharoah led an army along the west shore and destroyed any Lower Egyptians here. (-1 army for both Egypts)

FRANCE: France expands its dominance into the Mediterranean with the capture of many islands.

GREECE: Expansion into the Aegean marks the beginning of Greek dominance over the islands.

RODDINA: The Roddinan army becomes the most technologically advanced army in the world, sporting the new copper spear tips.

BABYLON/OTTOMAN: Despite attempts by the Babylonians to pincer the Ottoman position, the Ottomans still continue to push forward, inching closer to Babylon. (-army from both).

BRAZIL: Expansion inland helps fuel trade with the other American empires.

Random Events:

Briton: A highly established religion helps keep the confidence of the people growing (+ confidence).

France: Lucrative trade with its own colonies in the Mediterranean help increase the French economy (+ economy).

Roddina: An expanding lowerclass (farmers) makes way for less of an educational experience as the children and adults must work all day to make a living (- education).

Babylon: With the thread of annihilation high, more men join the army (+ Army).

NOTES FROM MOD:

You cannot upgrade your army (to a new age) and increase it the same turn. And remember the new rule addendum...you cant increase more then two things a turn anyways.

Jason, is it okay if I send secret war orders in a PM, so others can't counter them?

Yah, sure.

EDIT: btw, new rule:

Each time you increase an age, your education level will go down by one. This will come into affect starting in Bronze age.

And so Brazil went on it's merry way ^_^

BRAZIL ORDERS:

Grow navy +1

Expand north along the coast to help our ships. 1/3 of the army wil ltravel on our ships to gain greater speed and conquer the coast and islands.

Use our navy to sail north and claim those little islands we've heard so much about. Sail along the coast and then to the islands to avoid dying at sea.

The reamining 2/3 of th army will expand along the Amazon and to the river basin to the south.

We have weak education, so we should get copper like the other weak education nations ;)

To Irish:
From Britons:
I am Arthwyr, King of the Britons, overlord of all the Isles of the North. I present you a choice. You cannot long hold onto your independence; either you become subjects of the Khaevans, uncivilized Slavs from distant lands who worship strange gods, or you join your Celtic brothers, the Britons, who worship your very same gods, and maintain your self-determination as suzerain federates of my glorious Kingdom. I present you the choice of glory in allegiance to Camelot, or slavery in bondage to Khaev. Which will you have?

No time for stroy today.

ORders
Invest an economy into expansion (can I do this??) Expand north and west as much as possible.
Have the Arabian Navy prevent any non-Arabic nation landing in the Arabic penninsula
Have the army go and make friends with some of the Arabic tribes that live outside of the Caliphate. After all they are Arabs themselves and thus should be part of the greater Caliphate.

Orders: Expand to the East.
Increase army size
Have army stationed all around my borders, and inside borders, so i hopefully dont get invaded. Just in Case have a fall back plan into a semi circle around my main capital and beginning off area.

Secret orders sent. Heheheheheh.

Zulu Orders

Grow Army and Education at expense of an economy
Kill that other group of barbarians on my borders, use superior numbers to outflank and crush the enemy armies, burn, enslave, or civilize all villages and towns.

Babylon Orders:

Grow army.

Bring the smaller ships of the Babylonian navy into the twin rivers, and use them to launch arrows at Ottoman positions.

Send the army forward once more, to either hold our current position, or push the Ottomans back.

jason, do you read the stories we write? Sorry, I expected that you would them, so I wrote my battle plans there. The Pharaoh didn't lead the western army, he was trying to hold the city as long as possible, so that the western army would have enough time to be able to cross the nile and attack the enemy from behind.

Orleans, Capital of the Kingdom of France

Charlemagne, a young man not yet over 25 and a second-rank soldier in the French army, was well accomplished. Already he had earned fame by both soundly defeating the Goth tribe barbarians and then driving his team of settlers and soldiers to claim the area before either Roman or Spanish team could. He followed that up with an unprecedented expedition to the endless waters of his south. There he came upon several chains of islands, which now provide invaluable ports for trade aswell as a way of maintaining ships closer to any potential threats.

With a track record this good, Charlemagne thought this invitation from the King was surely about a promotion...a big promotion. Dressed in formal military garb (the French Army was the first to adopt such a thing), the young soldier shook hands with the Palace Guards, showing the invitation. The guard on the right tapped on the gigantic gold doors and they swung open slowly.....

castle.jpg

And Charlemagne was never even a little bit skeptical...

The castle was magnicent to be sure. Many a gold and mineral plunder had been sent to construct this fabulous structure, of which many stories had been made. Charlemagne boldy climbed up flights of stairs, going up three stories, opening doors like he owned the place....until he realized very embarrasingly...he had no idea where the throne room was. He asked a servant whom told him the location but gave him a cold stare, almost a pity stare. As Charlemagne went up the stairs to the throne room, he started noticing more of these stares, people lowering thier heads if he looked at them, and an overall atmosphere of tension. Something was not right.

Finally he made it, the doors to the throne room were just outside. Showing his invitation to the throne room guards, much like he had to the outside guards, he was allowed entrance. The throne room was extravagant aswell, as one could guess. Windows wound around the room, draperies with fanciful depictions of battle hanging from them. It was a dark room, the only true light spots being the throne itself and the door. The rest was dimly lit with weak flames. Charlemagne noticed right away the absence of King Richard...the throne was empty. As Charlemagne left the brightness of the door area to venture to the throne itself, a man appeared. Surprised, Charlemagne nearly fell over. Gathering his senses again, Charlemagne asked "Sir, who are you? Why are you here?" The man lifted his hand, as if to stop from further questioning,"Young warrior, I am here to warn you. The King is not well, he is a sick and cruel ruler. You are better off to leave now." Charlemagne glared at the man, who was robed much like a monk in RL. Charlemagne thought, surely this man is lying, no...certainly he is lying! "Old man, leave this castle before I tell of your blasphemy!" Charlemagne was now visibly angry, pointing his arm towards the door. As the old man complied and walked towards the exit, he stared at the young man and said,"Be careful."

No sooner had the robed man left, then another robed man entered, only his robes were encrusted with jewels and were large, overbearing, and obviously a homage to his incredible wealth. He came through the same door the old man had, blowing past Charlemagne as he huffed his way to his throne. It wasnt until he was sitting firmly in the seat that he noticed him. The King's eyebrow arched up curiously. Who was this boy who had entered his throne room? "Boy! Come into the light and state your name." Charlemagne was nervous now. He had waited for this moment to come many a day, and now it was finally here. But something...still seemed off. Maybe it was a cumulation of the stares and the old mans words. He shook the feeling off and approached the King, "Your majesty, I am second-rank soldier Charlemagne. Conquerer of the Gothic lands and capturer of the islands of the Great Sea. Here is your invitation that you bestowed on me." Charlemagne handed the invitation back to the King. The King scanned over it carefully...his eyes lit up as he remembered,"Oh yes, Knight Charlemagne. I have been waiting for you."

King Richard started chuckling to himself,"Yes knight, you are quite a hero of the people. Perhaps you should be promoted to general..." At the sound of this, Charlemagne was quick to respond,"Oh yes, that would be terrific sire!" Now the King jumped from his throne. The King was not a light footed man, but he appeared to have a rather muscular frame. He pulled out a sword, edging it dangerously close to Charlemagne,"but I wont." He viciously slashed at the side of the young knight. Charlemagne yelled with pain, the sword had struck true on his right side. He doubled over with pain, and tried to regain his footing. The large gash made sure he could not. The evil King stood over him, laughing in his agony,"Foolish boy. You are nothing to me but a criminal of this land, trying to take this kingdom for yourself. But you cant, its mine. All mine. Now you will be locked up forever, another trophy to my accomplishments." The words bellowed through the room and was like salt to his wound. "Guards, take him away." were the last words he heard before he blacked out...

Orders
-increase education
-increase army

nice story azale.

I do read stories, tossi. I just forgot that one minor detail. If you want, you can say the Pharaoh was pushed back in Thebes and was forced then to lead the army in the west.

Roddina Orders
Increase Education
spend Econ to increase Army size.
1/4 of army expand north border to the shore (or to the iceline, whatever that is, lol)
3/4 of army expand south (southeast) border down the river.

------------
Over the years, the City of Moscow had become a beacon of enlightnment and learning for the whole nation of Roddina and many outside the nation. The council of Elders, knew what dangers an ignorant population faced, and so they had made every effort possible to educate the people. The small army Roddina had always had was initialy used only to find new lands to learn from, but the prospect of being under a government that considered the education of its citizens its main priority had attracted many a village and town to come under the flag or Roddina. And eventualy a bigger army was needed to provide the defence that a nation of Roddina's size needed. When the learned miners and smiths of Roddina figured out how to make weapons from a metal they called Copper, the army needed to be equiped with this new weaponry. A lot of the military men disliked change and were not able to accept the change in training and tactics that came with the new weapons, and so they merged back into the population and continued their educations. New recruits had to be trained to refill the ranks of the army.
All of this expansion of the army cost the nation of Roddina a great deal of resources, and the economy had suffered. But the Elders refused to let up on their educational goals, and they kept spending resourses on building schools in the new towns of the nation, and they kept spending time to teach the new teachers to teach.
The fast expansion of the border and the additions of thousands of uneducated citizens to the nation had set the educational progress back a few generations back, and the school system had to be re-evaluated to compensate to be able to include a population who's ancestors were not as educated as those who lived in Moscow or other historicaly "Roddina" lands.
But the dedication of the government to educate its populace was paying off. The practice of passing down knowledge and wisdom to one's children was becoming ingrained in the Roddina culture. Even those in the nation that had not gone to a school, because they had been working the farm fields their whole life, knew that knowledge was power and were curious enough to learn from their neighbors. New ideas came from every corner of the nations (though mostly from Moscow). And most good ideas and inventions spread quickly through the nation, because very few people were averse to learning something new. Whether it was a farmer figuring out a more effective way of planting corn or merchant finding a better way to transport grain or a smith finding a combination of woods that would burn hotter and longer in his furnace, the new ideas spread quickly and improved the lives of many. The schools of Moscow were the eventual repository of most everything created or invented throughout the nation. Every piece of information gathered eventualy found its way to Moscow, where it would be carefully recorded and placed with other relevant information.
---------------------------------------

"Fellow council members. We are facing a crisis. With the combined expences of our continuing education programs and the cost of re equiping the army, we are spending our reserves much faster then we are collecting taxes from the population. We need to find a way to increase the resourses flowing into our nations treasury or it will run out, and we will be forced to cut back on the education of our people."
"Our military is better trained then any of our neighbors, why dont we just take some of their resourses. I am sure my men are ready to fight a war."
"Thank you general, but as the council has decided every time you've brought up an offencive campaign, we are a nation of enlightnment and education. We will not initiate a war that will likely cost us more then it brings, and will only force our people to abandone their learning to join the army. We need a peaceful way of generating funds."
"We could offer other nation's leaders to educate their children and charge the for it."
"We've done that before, they are not willing to pay us enough to make a difference for the nation."
"How about we offer to explain to the miners and smiths of our nation neighbors the secrets of copper in exchange for resourses."
"Now there's an idea."
"Yes, I'll second that notion, they may be willing to pay enough for a chance of increasing their military might."
"But do we want our neighbor's armies to be able to compete with ours?"
"I dont see the downside. If we are the ones that give them the technology, it would not be very enlightened of them to use it against us."
"So for an official Voice of Agreement, all in favor of offering the Copper mining and smithing technologies to other nations, say I"
"I","I","I","I","I","I"....."nay"
"Alright all Elders for, General against. Your opposition is noted general, thank you for your input, but the Council has spoken".

OOC: Jason, am i allowed to "sell" the fact that i'm into the copper age? can i teach it to other nations, and charge them an Econ point for it?
if no, then the bellow text can be ignored by all.
if yes, then how should it work? any restrictions?
/OOC

To All Nations (within trading reach or Roddina(russia))
From Elders of Roddina

We offer to train your Miners and Smiths in the finding and handling of a metal we call Copper. It will make your armies mightier and your nations more secure. All we ask in return is help with our dwindling treasury (ie an Econ).

I read something about having to post my orders in the open (something I usually avoid if the alternative is at all threatening to me)... Is that so? I didn't read anything about having to post orders in the open in the first page and I just saw someone send in secret orders so I went ahead and assumed. :)
Please post my orders and let 'em count instead of just deleting 'em if it is the case since I got to leave right now anyway. Thnx anyway.

Two minor details... Well whatever.
