WC were cool strategy games (well, i have virtually played none of WCIII). Only reason for Blizzard to make a MMO of this was greed.

Afaik WCIII already was very different plot-wise from the far more brutal WC and WCII

Also, the OST for WCIII doesn't hold a candle to that of WCII.

Look I'm all for the massive awesome pirate cheese that is Warcraft II music - it's magnificent, it is - but you can't just dismiss WC3 music!

It is of course a more athmospheric direction and also less catchy, but I do think it's beautiful.

How would that make sense? Blizzard had a great reputation and a constant stream of income from eSports and MMOs were somewhat of a niche back then, Blizzard couldn't possibly have known that the market would explode like that.

WoW has certainly devolved into a cash-grab that no sane person should be playing these days, but to claim that it started off like that sounds weird to me.

I wonder how those beastly Orcs would respond to being cut in half by a .50 Cal machine gun. Now this particular .50 is close to my heart as one a lot like it sat on top of my track in the army.

Same opinion.
WotLK and later certainly show the greed, but WoW Classic is just as certainly a labor of love.

I agree as well. It became clear Blizzard wanted to turn Warcraft into an RPG beginning with Warcraft 3. The change in focus from larger battles to smaller scale battles and a larger focus on leveling and developing your hero units was a clear indicator that Blizzard intended Warcraft 3 to be a transition game for the franchise from RTS to RPG.

Aside from vibe, if you into the good vs evil vibe, 3 was an improvement in just about every single way.

^Having level-up + magic item bonus warriors in Real time strategy is not to my liking
Imo it works far better in turn-based (as in Age of Wonders or similar games).

Although the main issue for me is that i prefer 2d-ish RTS. Even in Age of Mythology and Rise of Nations i was using mostly a couple of cameras.

Best Soundtrack of Warcraft is clearly Wrath of the Lichking though, everything else is just nostalgia clouding your vision.
