Tribe names revisited

Inspired by Monty Python’s Life of Brian, I’m currently playing as Wodewick, leader of the Womans.

(If you haven’t seen Life of Brian, do a Google search on Welease Wodewick and you’ll see what I’m jabbering on about).

Perhaps unsurprisingly, many of my cities seem to begin with the letter W: Wome, Wochester, Wotterdam.

Captured cities tend to be altered slightly – Detroit for example has just become Detwoit...

A lot of people get creative with naming their cities.
A lot of people name their city after the location of the map (west river city, big hills valley)

So is there a way we can edit the default city names for the different civilizations? That way we don't have to keep typing in the name of the city if we want to change it for good.

Most of my cities build settlers in the early game, and they get the names the computer assigns to them.

I name my capital "CAPITAL, " so I will not destroy my palace by building one too many settlers in the early game.

Some cities are able to produce massive amounts of shields. Imagine a city near a bunch of hills. I name those cities "WONDER 1," WONDER 2," etc. They only build wonders of the world, or factories. I use those wonders in place of 90% of the city improvements other people use.

After I have all the wonders I want (e.g., I've finished SETI and the Appollo program) I re-task my "WONDER X" cities to build military units or spaceship components.

Note: Any "special" city is named in all caps. That makes it easy to recognize.

Another appealing option is to give the city the name of "NONE". This way, you can easily get plenty of "NONE" units ;):)

PS: I'm not the author of this ingenuity

I did that once, named all my cities NONE. It becomes as quickly unplayable as one would imagine.

Um, feeling a bit awkard for explaining my humorous comment (which I've read elsewhere on this forum and wanted to share) - anyhow, "NONE units", i.e. units without home city, means no unhapinnes, no shields taken from home city and no food consumed (for settlers). With naming (one) city NONE, there is the possibility to see its unit(s) displayed as 'NONE'; alas, such unit(s) still acts as regular units, regardless of the appealing name; they are not "real" NONE units, despite appearing so :)

I know all that. I'm saying that I named all the cities NONE and I couldn't pick out the actual NONE settler anymore. Or any other settler. It was also supposed to be funny.
