From Istland, Svedland, Ipsa
To Northland

We'd agree to a pact of non-agression between us, but no more.

From the Khodat chieftain in the northwest
To Chieftain Jatard

We see no reason to join you, as we can take care of ourselves and our ancient culture far better than you can, in your far off halls in Dak Ir Para.

From Chief Luke of Ikrim
To Chieftain Jatard of Zapata

Greetings to our Zapatan neighbors. We Ikrimians would not be opposed to trade between us.

From Hamelia
To King Kiefer

Very well, we shall attack.

Okay, are the updates:

2) Every three days
3) Random intervals.

If it's 1, then it's time for a new one.

Yes, it's every 2 days. Update is today, but there's no specified time for "when" today. That means I'm waiting for Plexus's orders.

Random Event

A great fire sweeps through the wooden structures of Dak Ir Para. The mountain burns for many days before rain miracolously comes from the heavens and sets it out. The total damage amounts to one economy level.

-----

In Aphraea, the first coins in the history of the world appear. They are silver and highly valuable, meaning that they are very rare. Most families only have a few and prefer to barter, but the wealthy have dozens and use them freely. The High Priestess had had a statue of the godess constructed out of silver in front of the great pyramid, which is close to completion. Recent advances in construction have brought about marble, which has completely changed the look of Xiwolvae. To the North, the Iskador Springs expedition finally sets up a city, but communication is hard between them and Xiwolvae. In the surrounding area, many tribes copy the Aphreans' civilized ways and form small tribes. They speak a similar language. The ferocious Iskadrian tribes to the South are engaged in continous warfare. Recently, two factions have become prevalent, both occupying different sides of the Iskador river.

The Azalian Dialicians get ready for attack. Together with their Hamelian allies they pour into Krage territory. After some losses, the first town falls easily under a hail of arrows. Meanwhile, the Hamelians set siege to the tiny capital village of the Krageians. They conquer it within days, long before Azalian troops reach the scene. Krage is split into two, with Hamelia getting the more developed lands, but the Azale Dialicians gaining more fertile and resourceful lands. For the first time, the Azalian Dialicians see the full scope of the Dialician world. Their cousins live in the forests all around them for miles and miles. The Dialicians are a warrior people of the woodland, and many of their tribes are engaged in various conflicts, with power shifting between several large chiefdoms. With the conquest of Krage, Chief Kiefer and his people have gained much respect from their cousins. For the first time, they hear of Kiefer, Supreme Chiefatin of the Northern Forests.

Dialicians: 70 men
Krage: 150 men, 2 villages

In the lands of the Dasians, the Zapatans have started to domesticate the horse. They have failed to learn horseback riding, but they have at least calmed thse beasts down enough so that they don't bite off the head of anyone who comes near. In the meanwhile, many of the surrounding tribes are reached and have been fully integrated into the kingdom. The Khodat have yet to join, but many say that it's only a matter of time. Expansion has also been undertaken on the opposite side of the Ho'Dak from Para Dam.

The economy in Northland is increased through fishing, and the nation undergoes a time of relative prosperity. It's neighbors grow annoyed at the chiefatin's attempts at unification, but Istland begins to contemplate an alliance. More importantly, Northmen have discovered a new unique material: Tin. Together with copper, some think they may have something. Recent expeditions North have gained even more land for the Northmen.

In the North in the mountains, west of the Alavs, but North of the Anasia, and East of the Dialicians, a whole new race has appeared. They ride horses already, but have only accomplished this recently, and the horses are hard to come by in the North. Often two men have to mount one beast.

The Kirmizi leader was sick. The disease spread. His whole tribe died from the sickness. The Kirmizi were dead. Or so went the prophecy of one village elder on peyote. In actuality the Kirmizi increased their army yet again and expanded along the coast some more. Two large groups of fellow Kalkanese barbarians have appeared.

Traterium continues expanding, avoiding the nearby barbarian tribes. They stick to the coast, and an increased trade of pearls and fish appears in the capital. A road is constructed between their two cities, and it's largely responsible for this.

The Serdioan city states continue to expand. Serdio proper grows weaker and weaker compared to it's neighbors, many of which have also taken to the sea, venturing farther and farther out in their tiny reed boats.

A small Freyrian state has appeared in Southern Pazak. Nobody has contact with them, but the Aphreans have heard of the continent in their legends and myths.

OOC

I told you the update wouldn't be amazing

Trade is simple. To start a trade route, the recipient has to be a large nation that's comparable to you (No barbarian tribes or small villages). You both have to consent to it, and it'll cost 3 economy levels (both of you). Every 3 turns from then on it will give you an economy level. Simple stJNES5 style rules.

Goverments have been added to the nation stats. You can change them now, but nothing too advanced or stupid. If it's really stupid I'll take away an economy level. I mean, really stupid.

OOC: Yeah, we already named it while you were out. And minion, it's Chieftain Council, a council of chieftains (duh). And couldn't the NPCs just name some of the areas themselves? Or at least is the Mim Tor in Ikram legitimate or should we ask them to name it themselves?

And where is Jason's Semeria?

And what age are we in metal- and building-wise?

IC:

Part V: From the fire to the horses

Dak Ir Para burned. Some said it was the punishment of the Gods, others said to be the rebellion of the Devils (OOC: If I get time I will probably post something about the Zapatian religion and mythology somewhere). Others blamed the tiny opposition that did not agree with Jatard completely. Some even blamed the Khodat, but Jatard knew it was not the cause. And it was unimportant, as the Goddess of Rain, Nalda, has come to their aid.

Slowly, the city was rebuilding. Luckily, the scribes lived in a stone cave outside of the main part of the city, and their work wasn't damaged. But the rest was shambles.

Some suggested to rebuild the city how it was and to give rich offerings to Gash, the God of Fire. Others had an idea based on the safety of the scribes to build stone buildings. The idea was insane, as stone buildings would fall apart easily, so Jatard went along with the first an idea.

Better news were elsewhere. The territories were now fully joined. Khodat's chieftain was defiant, but allegedly losing support in his own tribe, while the Ikrimians agreed to trade. The Para Dam agriculture was getting better and better. The warriors that were ordered the domestication of horses were making slow yet certain progress. All in all, Zapata still grew and prospered.

Jartad felt that he already knew the future. Khodat shall join and will become a tribe of great warriors in Zapata. There shall be trade and friendship with Ikrimians, and a new city shall be found on the grasslands there. Horse Riders shall appear in Zapata. And the legendary Rohan will be found. He knew it was all to happen, and he prepared for... eternity.

Orders:

- Start the trade with Ikram.
- Expand into the grassland between Zapata and Ikram, and build the city of Terad Ikram (Ikramean Trade) there, which should be the starting point for our traders on their way to Ikram.
- Continue carefully putting diplomatical pressure on Khodat (in the same way as before).
- Try to develop horse riding.
- Grow economy by storing food in the Para Dam farmland and distributing some of it all over Zapata.
- Send a 50-men expedition along the Ho'Dak river to try and find Rohan again.

Diplo:

To Ikram
From Zapata

We are willing to trade, but due to the fire, we would ask you to pay for two thirds of the trade route. In compensation, we will send some of our scribes to teach you the secrets of writing.

OOC AGAIN:

Timeline:

400 f.c.

Tin invented in Northland. Azalian (Kiefer's) Dialicans conquer the Krage, and establish contact with the other Dialican tribes to the south. Rise of the new Serdioan kingdoms continues, while the first Serdioan nation experiences a dark age. Currency appears in Aphroae. Freyrian civilization appears in South Pazak. Minor trade begins between Zapata and Ikram, and is likely to become the first major trade route. Horse is domesticated or half-domesticated in several parts of the world.

Chiefatin Council? Ok, it will be changed.

The NPCS? Ok, I'll let them name some of the stuff.

Err, what's the mim tor again, lol, sorry

Jason said he didn't have the time and he didn't know what he was thinking. Check his old post again.

We are in the copper age.

LOL, Mim Tor is the northwestern coast, mostly Ikram.

Tartrans Tribes

In the far North of the great lands on the high and cold mountains the tribes of the Tartrans have formed. This tribes are in chaose, each village hunt and work for itself and no one major leader have even showed his face.

But, In the year 350 f.c. of the known dates, food suplies begun to go shorter. The pilaging of each other villages did not work. And even the great animal the Horse were almost gone. In this harsh times a leader, called Haraduan, came to power in the northern village of Tarantala. He summoned all the tribe leaders and took a speech of the future of the Tartrans.

Horses were already being used for fast riding, and many villages sent their horse-riders southward to find food, the only news that came were of the Alavs. They were a strong tribe to the east. News of other tribes were common, espaicaly rumors of an even further tribe called Anasia. Those many tribes did not knew to ride horses, and were undeveloped. They all came from the Tartrans homelands and moves southward and eastward away from the harsh mountains and snow.

In the meeting the leader Haraduan called for all the tribes to unite.
"The Tartrans cannot be satisfied with our small lands! Food suplies will end soon and we will need to eat our good animals the horses! We cannot let this day come! We all heard of the Alavs tribes to the east, down in the Hills and Grasslands beneat our homelands. Those tribes are weak, and we are strong, they have good and fertile lands. Those damned Alavs even learned to make food from the earth! We must unite our lands and rise into their lands and take them! The Tartrans must take the Alavs lands and drive them out of our future lands! After we do so, our people could ones again build villages and advance.
I call all tribe leaders to unite with the Tarantala village and ride east into Alavs! They know nothing of horse-riding, we could take them by suprise. With the bow and arrow, and our knowledge of Horse-riding, we will soon get to them and drive them out. To battle to victory to the continuation of the Tartrans people!"

Days after most villages united with Tarantala and many horse-riders with their friends the archers on the horses rode east, to alavs lands.

400 f.c.

With the minting of coinage the Aphraean economy was given an enormous boost, the High Priestess built a statue in front of the rising Pyramid. To the south, two tribes of Iskadorians are hostile towards each other, and it is to here that the Priest-Militants turn their attention.

500 f.c. Orders

i) Approach the northern tribes of Iskadrians in a militray alliance to subjugate the tribes on the southern banks of the river and take control of their land. The northern bank is covered in heavy jungles so an expedition there would be futile. If they agree, sweep down on those tribes on the SOuthern Bank with the Northern tribes aid, pillage loot and rape, try to take many slaves to force to farm so we can concentrate on expansion and worshipping our multitudinous deities. If our losses get too high, pull back and set up a defensive position with fortifications like those around Aurela, the river is broad and fast flowing with few crossing points which we can guard with small force with the help of our allies so we should be safe.

If they decline our offer, then begin constructing defensive fortifications on both sides of the river as a base to attack.

ii) Continue increasing the economy.

iii) Get the workers to begin work on some defeses around each city, any tress nearby can be chopped down for use in spears etc.

iv) The merchants tell me that the paths they travel can get very muddy in bad weather, have our Philosopher-Priests think about putting stone over the top to improve this.

v) Loving that new marble look :D

OOC: minion,

The land of Rohan flourished in the land they were given by the great gods. They were given the fertile beds that came from the Ho’dak and the fresh fish from Lake Rohan and the animals of the deserts. Warriors from all over tried to tame these creatures but were viciously killed but man that was skilled with the use of spears and 4 other of his companions successfully captured one and watched its ways. Soon they tried to tame it.

If Successful: Train more of the animals and try to learn to ride them and start a new U.U. Rohan Copper Guard. Soldiers mounted upon these creatures with copper tipped spears and red clothing that intimidates the opposition.

If Unsuccessful: Keep up work on training them

Orders:
Do as above
Increase economy through fishing
Expand west around the lake

Northland to other Northern tribes: How about a defensive alliance now, that way we can realy be the northern alliance?

Many celebrations took place as the people of northland were prospering. The newly found tin combined with copper help make a very strong metal good for both milatary and domestic purposes. With it, plans were made to start making better buildings, structures, and weapons etc. With all the prosperity and such more and more people decided to help the evergrowing nation. People fished and farmed a lot. This ended up giving northland a fairly decent population size considering the nations desolate surroundings. Attempts to train animals were given up on so the northmen decided to continue to do what they did best and kill the animals instead and use the fur & meat. Using the bones of the animals they managed to make higly sophisticated tools for the times, as well as scary looking artifacts that most times scared the enemy. With the army growing as did their training to be the best fighters in the north.

Orders

increase army
have blacksmiths combine tin and copper to make new stronger metal, with the new metal make better weapons (early spears and swords) and better arrows for the archers
expand north
try talking other northern nations into a defensive alliance

let me see if i can see the entire thread by posting...

I'd doubt it, Azale.
