The war is not popular. We are at 30% lux already! Everything looks great MM wise tho! :thumbsup:
I fail to see the point in trading anything to Greece. Greece is done for, even if we DoW on Egypt we couldn't save Greece. Bubye Alex.

IBT - Indian tank dies against our army at Calcutta (1-0) then a reg tank flawlessly kills a fortified Mech on a hill (1-1), thats so crap. Fission comes in, we know the AI will go for Space Flight so I set research to Ecology, due in 14 at +300gpt.

Turn 1 - Rush UN in Berlin. Decide Delhi is our next target for our armies so i investigate. 11 Infantry, 3 tanks and 1 arty guard the ancient city. Understandably against numbers like that our arty barely make a dent. We won't attack it this turn. Clear away some nearby Indian troops (9-1) including a stack of tanks. Oh yeah guys, I might make mention also, we have no uranium.

IBT - We lose 2 mech infantry and kill 3 tanks in defensive battles. We get another dose of WW. (12-3)

Turn 2 - Berlin builds the UN.

Iron Knob riots and I scroll ahead to prevent further riots... oh my. In order to prevent riots without raising lux slider takes away enough commerce producing tiles to knock us from +307gpt when I hit enter at the end of last turn, to -25gpt. Ouch. I think a very large gpt deal may have ended as well but still, this war is getting out of hand. I now disagree even more strongly on the subject of Universal Suffrage, another 2-3 turns before being hit by WW like this would make a big difference. I'm considering a revolt to Monarchy. In order to have no riots takes 50% lux slider, which at 0% science only nets us +273gpt. This is getting out of hand.
Egypt is trading with India. I don't understand why we let them get out of the war with India in the first place to be honest. Sign them in for furs.
Our arty barrage at Delhi fails to scratch the surface and after 2 turns of bombardment the city is still size 14. It then takes 16 arty and 5 bombers to redline a single infantry defending Madras. An elite tank then wins flawlessly (I would have been embarrased at anything less!) and we raze Madras. (13-3)

We then clear out the surviving Indian tanks with Elite tanks and win flawlessly but dont produce any leaders. (15-3)
Kill a redlined Infantry on a mountain guarding a settler with an elite cav and win (16-3), producing a leader.

With nothing worth rushing I send him toward Calcutta to form another army.

Now everyone I have thought long and hard about this decision, and I think it is the right one. Consider this, to get any better than 40-turn research we HAVE to run deficit. In war we may need to rush build a lot of things, I don't want to be running 50% lux...
I take a deep breath and order a revolution, we will choose monarchy as our new government.

IBT - we kill 3 Indian tanks on the defence with elite mechs. (19-3)
Greece ceases to exist on their homeland, the have 3 cities on various islands still though.

Turn 3 - Monarchy does no end of good. Ok so we lose the worker bonus but everyone is happy at 10% lux, we can set science back to 50% (ecology in 17) and still turn a profit. The siege of delhi continues, now with airsupport we drop Delhi to size 10 and weaken all the defenders (and take out all the improvements) although we do lose a reg bomber to a fighter operating somewhere in the west.
I decide to risk a strike on Delhi.

And with that we run out of guys to attack with. Holy crap Delhi is well defended! 16 kills and there are still guys in there!

I decide our force which torched Madras last turn (about 16 arty and 6 mechs) are going to head into Indian territory to generally pillage and make a nuisance of themselves.

IBT - succesfully defend against 3 tank attacks at Calcutta (38-5). Egypt enters the Mordern era. I have to be honest, I have never seen a MA Cleopatra before so I've had a new experience in this game!

Turn 4 - the final days of delhi! We redline all defenders and begin the attack with reinforcements.
5 Elite Tanks record victories and at last delhi has fallen!

Culture from Jaipur is cutting off the link between ANZAC and Calcutta so a force dispatched its way last turn decides to get rid of that pesky break so our new Wine colonies can get to work. The plan succeeds and now we have wines, but we lose a vet tank, an elite tank and a tank army in destroying the city. A very costly luxury indeed.

However with wines we can now turn off luxury spending all together! I put the extra money toward science spending and ecology is now in 13.

We have 2 empty armies in Calcutta so one becomes a tank army and the other becomes the long overdue Mech Army.
I spend the rest of the turn consolidating our position.

IBT - We lose dyes and incense but only Iron Knob and Launceston riot.

Turn 5 - kill 9 indian tanks for no loss (55-7). Found Lone Pine (continuing the Gallipoli theme) to claim wines, gives us 4 sources now. Use bombers to destroy all the Indian vineyards. I also decide to call out 2 vet mechs for the dangerous job of pillaging the Indian oil supply. The only have 1 spigot so we have a chance.

Nothing else interesting this turn.

I'm pausing here for a bit, these turns are taking a long time to play, these 5 turns took me the better part of three hours.
I'll play again tomorrow.

I'm back and most likely will be able to play later today. Later means something like ten hours from now.

I haven't seen the save in a week so I can comment only based on your logs, but things look great. Our aim is space so being in monarchy only slows that down. I think we have hurted India so so much that they are no real threat to our launch. I think my aim is to take the uranium, raze a couple of Indian cities and go for peace and democracy. And start to build our space ship.

Or do you want to continue the war??

-Edit: should read the logs more carefully. Tupac said he'll continue his turns later and didn't post a save. Will you continue or post the save?

Turn 5 continued - short rush a library in ANZAC, a settler in Calcutta (even though he'll be Indian hopefully it'll be alright) and a temple in Lone Pine.
Move forces on the east and west coast for 2 attacks.
Our MA with France (which see's us paying 92gpt) is linked to our peace treaty with them so we will need to wait until the MA expires before making peace with India.

IBT - France lands troops by New Lahore. A redlined vet mech on the uranium source near ANZAC kills a vet tank and promotes to elite, ZoC bombards another tank, kills a 2nd tank, kills a 3rd tank and produces a leader

Greece signs peace with India

Turn 6 - start by bombing Kollhapur, lose the first bomber to an Indian jet fighter, lose another bomber at Dacca. Still destroy the rax in both cities and kncok the pop down a little. Kill 4 Indian tanks with elite cavs after bombing and arting them to red. (62-11)
Split our tanks and our arty into two groups (one for Dacca and one for Kollhapur). After those two cities are razed we should be pretty safe from cultural pressure.
Sink an indian ironclad/transport pair (64-11).

IBT - France captures New Lahore
our duo of pillaging Mech Infantry both get hit by cruise missiles yellowlining them (they are on a mountain i might add) then both get killed by the same tank without scratchign it. We also lose an exposed elite cav (64-14)
Greece and Egypt sign peace.

Turn 7 - kill 6 indian tanks (70-14), our arty stacks are in position, one opens fire but fails to cause enough damage for an assault, should be right next turn though. The other only got in position this turn. Was going to found a city to claim the uranium but its not roaded so i send a worker to that tile (covered by a mech) to build a colony before we found a city (so its instantly hooked up).
Do my turnly check on India and... oh my. They have Computers. They still have oil and rubber. That means we are looking at mechs! I am now ecstatic that our bombers took out the raxes in Dacca and Kollhapur last turn as it means that those cities cant upgrade infantry to mechs.

IBT - our stack at Dacca, covered by the 'Great Wall' of 10 vet mechs repels 9 Indian tanks. (79-14)
Pharsalos back on the Greek homeland flips back to Greece.

Turn 8 - We build our last army, by that I mean we don't have enough cities for anymore... who'd have thunk it?
The attack on Dacca starts badly, although we yellowline all defenders we lose 2 bombers to interceptors and its sitting on that annoying size 13. With no other option (well besides waiting till next turn, but wat can I say? I'm impatient!) I attack. I'm careful though, I use a full health unit each time and we record 7 consecutive victories without loss, finally culminating in the fall of Dacca (86-16) we also destroy 5 jet fighters. Boo ya!

Build a colony on the uranium and found 'The Nek' to claim it properly.
Our arty plays a similiar role at Kollhapur only this time we cant get it below size 16.
Anyway I decide that fortune favours the bold and opt for an attack.
And indeed fortune does favour the brave!
We kill a tank, and 5 infantry and Kollhapur falls as well. (92-16)

We destroy another 2 jets.

Ok we have all we want from this war, a new native lux (which we can also trade) and a source of uranium. We are set to go.
Our MA will expire on turn 10 so for now its just a case of wait till then.
Renogotiate our ivory deal with france to save us 27gpt.

IBT - We lose 3 mechs and an elite tank to indian tanks (92-20)
then watch an egyptian destroyer sink an indian battleship

Turn 9 - just clear out all the Indian tanks, no real dramas because naturally they were redlined first... still we somehow manage to conspire to lose a full health (16/16) tank army to a redlined tank on a mountain. To say I was mildly suprised would be a severe understatement. (98-25)
then switch a lot of military builds to airports (not really sure why, but they're free and we don't really have anything else worth building), switch the rest of the mil builds to wealth. Anywhere that doesnt have a research lab is set to one. With all the wealth builds our income improves by +172gpt (to -14gpt). wow.

IBT - An indian force of 3 mechs and 5 tanks rocks up on a mountain by The Nek.

Turn 10 - First thing i do is cancel our MA with France. We collect a WM (france is broke) with the peace deal and take our 92gpt back.
Don't sign peace just yet, I wanna take down that stack. All our arty cant redline the lot but with the help of bombers we do. Now attack with elite tanks. remember we are attackign at 16 v 36 so this will be tough.
The only casualty however is a tank fighting against another tank (106-26).
Sign peace with India for 29gp (they have no gpt) a WM and 3 cities (Lisht, Buto and Kahun).

The three cities give us anothe source of oil, iron and aluminium.
Order a revolution.
Sorry to leave you a half-finished turn but I really can't will myself to finish it off, plus as we are entering a different phase its probably best to leave it to the next player to organise cities and so forth as they wish.

My 2 cents

lets get back to Demo (a given) and get Synthetic fibres. Hopefully by then the AI will have got space flight and we can trade/steal/buy it from them.

Lets get our old luxs back once we get into demo. We won't have WW and with our luxs we can prob run at 0 lux slider. Everyone else is dead broke, well not quite. Greece has over 2000 gold but almost no gpt.

I really don't have anythign to add so here's the save.

I agree we got what we wanted from the war, at the start it was to peg India back, but with the distribution of uranium its improtant having our own source and not have to trade for it

Turn 3 (1615AD): Lower science to 10%. Ecology in one. I disband some obsolete troops to lower costs.

IBT: Greece and France sign Mutual Protection Pact. And Greece and India sign MPP. Then Greece declares on the Indians, because France and India are at war. Great thinking AI! India builds two new towns.

Turn 6 (1630AD): Everybody else is now at war against Gandhi. This surely slows everybody down.

IBT: France signs a peace treaty with India.

Turn 7 (1635D): Nothing special.

IBT: France declares again on India because of MPP...

Very quiet turns. Mostly building unis and research labs and then putting cities to wealth. Nothing much to do. We could get a lot of gold from Greece for Ecology. Maybe we should sell before they use the money on something else...

Quick update

Its 1700AD and we have built Appollo. We will complete 8 SS parts in next 4 turns, we require Satelites (in 4 I think) and Nuclear - Laser, I am hopeful we can trade for nuclear
India has started its SS and built 2 parts, but it lacks synthetic and superconductor, plus the ones we lack

Egypt dow-ed us in 1685AD. Rather than risk them bringing France into war I allied France (sold them synthetic cheap) and that also brought in Greece who still have a MPP with France. Egypt has caused little inconvenience other than failed bombardments by battleships

France built Manhatten, so look out :nuke:

This game should finish soon - if we can trade for nuclear then I estimate 10 turns till laser researched (and Planetary Party Lounge is only a 2 turn build so easy pre-build). If we dont trade for nuclear then probably 15-16 turns.

Its 2.30am so I'll write log and post piccies tomorrow (err later today :rolleyes: )

Don't think I'll be able to get us into space as I suspect that it will take more than 6 turns to research Nuclear AND the laser so I think Merlin will get to do the honours.

IBT - watch indian bombers bomb the crap out of a french battleship and transport.

Turn 1 (1705) - no pollution so nothing to do.

IBT - Indian troops go to defend Buto for us! Cheers mate! Egypt founds a city south of Kahun.
Alex decides he can no longer justify paying us for iron and rubber and cancels the deal, he has 0gpt.

Turn 2 (1710) - 2 pollution hits, 3 SS parts finish, with satelittes in 2 I set iron knob to palace to prebuild its part.

IBT - India destroys the city south of Kahun, then signs peace with Egypt, then Egypt lands a big force by Geelong. We actually are at war!

Turn 3 (1715) - of course not a dangerous one, some elite tanks from the nek wipe out the 8-man force for no loss and then arty and destroyers combine to sink the egyptian fleet. No pollution this turn, although satelittes is due in 1 we cant cut back research. Drat.

IBT - despite being redlined the Egyptian battleship attacks our elite destroyer and wins. Bugger. Satelittes comes in but at 100% science nuclear power wont be in for 5 turns.

Turn 4 (1720)- 3 more parts finish, we are now waiting on thrusters (due in 1) and Planetary lounge (needs the Laser). No one has Nuclear Power for us to trade. I decide to get India back to war with Egypt and get some cash from them so we can stay at max research till the game finishes.
India:Alliance v Egypt + gems + furs + superconductor for Alliance v Egypt, 1592gp + 107gpt.

That should fund our research till the end of the game, we have over 4000gp and now runnign a deficit of just 40gpt.

No pollution.

IBT - zzz

Turn 5 (1725) - 2 pollution, and a plains wheat got turned into a desert wheat by global warming. Clean pollution and irrigate that tile, Iron Knob completes Thrusters and now adds another 36gpt to our treasury. Sink 2 battleships
NP in 4...

IBT - 2 more pollution and we catch joanie trying to plant a spy.

Turn 6 (1730) - sink another battleship

IBT - no pollution but we lose a few tundra forests to global warming. Indian and France sign peace.

Turn 7 - zzz

IBT - France and Egypt sign peace, taking their payments for Synthetic fibres with them. bastards. no pollution but global warming again.

Turn 8 - As tempting as it is to trade Satellites to joanie (2800gp + 330gpt) we have no reason to, and we don't want her going nuclear on us. Trim science a little.

IBT - India and greece sign peace.
Nuclear Power comes in. Research set to The laser at 100% (due in 5)

Turn 9 - decide might as well set Iron Knob to prebuild so that Merlin can wrap this up early. It goes to palace. 2 pollution to clean up... zzz

IBT - India adds another part.

Turn 10 - no pollution so nothign to do.

Laser is in 4. Prebuild in Iron Knob already has enough shields to build the part immediately.

Got it. Not sure if I can play today, but surely tomorrow at the latest. I'll post a save from the last turn, so that this game can go to your high scores. Not the best of starts in this game, but it was quite easy in the end. The turning point was Andronicus's beatifully executed war against Germany.
 
OK, I didn't make a turnlog for the last 4 turns. France dow'ed on us on the second turn.

In the save, laser comes in next turn. Then go to the big picture and change Iron Knob to Party Lounge and watch us go to Alpha Centauri....

I believe that I shall remain an observer in all SGs, due to the fact that I do not want to mess with other's plans, and do not want my own botched.
It seems to be a successful game though. It relies on interdependence I suppose. Not that I expect to be responded to...sigh.
