Tupac06 - AWE Continents

Being that we are a Miltary civ and we are in AW I think we will pop leaders left and right.
I think we are at least 2 or 3 cities awy from the FP. PLus I don't think we have a perfect spot pick out yet maybe pompeii.
30-40 turns away from GLB I think is too long to hold on to a leader.
Plus I think we need to got straight for Monarchy anyways.
Too early for an Army of Archers or Spears.
SO I think the The Pyramids is a great choice.
But putting in Atium for the culture there might be a better spot. Won't need the extra city to capture those spices.

Pyramids is fine with me and I like JJJs' suggestion building it in Atium.

That'd probably do it... though yikes! G5...

I'll continue playing now, Pyramids in Antium it is.

Turn 2 (continued) - Send leader homewards, will be a while till he gets to Antium.

IT - Zimbabwae completes the Collosus, the Indians start chasing after our Leader.

Turn 3 - zzz

IT - Persian archer shows up to our south through the jungle...crap... immortals

Turn 4 - Antium: Archer --> Worker (only thing that will complete before the Leader gets their to rush the Pyramids).
Contact persia, they have contact with babs... 3 opponents, I knew we couldn't just have Gandhi. I obviously don't buy contact with Babs but I trade Maths for CB, Pottery and Writing, 22gp and a territory map. Then Declare War. Their lands are to the south of the Great Jungle, they look big and they have iron and good lands. Kill their archer and go elite (3-0). The victory moves the now 5/5 archer next to a 3/3 Persian warrior. We'r on jungle so hopefully we'll win the fight in the interturn. Research goes to mysticism in 6. I decide to change the wheat+game site to 1 NW, its still 3 tiles from Pompeii but now its on the river. Nearly lose a vet archer killing a reg indian warrior (redlined) but we still win (4-0).

IT - no attacks, thats good.

Turn 5 - Rome: Spear --> Horse, Veii: Archer --> Settler.
Found Pisae just out of culture reach of Iron (had to be 3 tiles from Rome), start a temple. found Ravenna up on the river near India --> walls.
Income jumps to +5gpt and mysticism drops a turn for research.
Our mini-stack goes up alongside Delhi...
a look at the mil advisor tells us we are strong to india but only average to Persia.

IT - We get the FP message.

Turn 6 - Realise I misjudged how long it would take to get Trajan to Antium and the worker won't finish. Don't really want to whip a worker so I just switch to Pyramids now (he'll be there next turn). Decide to risk a strike on Delhi (good lord what was I thinking!! :wallbash:) and the first (3/5 eArcher) wins, then our 4/4 archer wins... then our 2/5 eArcher* loses without scratching and promotes him... then our spear attacks their 4/4 spear and goes 3/4, 2/4, 1/4, 1/4, 1/4, 1/4, 1/4 and... we won... sometimes its better to be lucky than good  we capture Delhi seizing its 2 gp and its 1 pop! (7-1)

delhivs9.jpg

We don't even get a resistor! Set to walls, our min stack can be the garrison of Delhi. And it can draw Indians for a while... if we expand in its direction it could be a good FP site (well nearby) and it has the incense... if it gets to risky we just abandon and run. I'm planning to whip it like mad though.
Lose a vet archer killing an indian spear by Pompeii but our spear finishes him off without a scratch and promotes Elite (8-2) (hey the Roman UU should be spearmen the way this is going!)

IT - zzz

Turn 7 - Rush the Pyramids in Antium. Our elite archer (5/5) in the jungle to the south goes 1/5 in order to kill a reg warrior. No leader (how awesome would it have been to have got a leader just after rushing with the other!). (9-2). Drop research to 60% (+10gpt) and still have myst in 2.

IT - no movement whatsoever... Persia is too far away and India is reeling from the loss of Delhi.

Turn 8 - a nice start :goodjob:

pyramidszf6.jpg

Antium: Pyramids --> Worker, Cumae: Archer --> Archer, Pompeii: Cat --> Cat

Sci drops another 10%, still have myst in 1.
Start prepping a stack to go Indian hunting!

IT - zzz

Turn 9 - Myst comes in, Poly in 13, or Lit in 12... stick with the Monarchy route, if we get the message Persia has started the GLB though we have to go straight for lit and hope to get a GL to rush the GLB.
Poly in 13 at +3gpt. Rome gets 1 of Antium's MP's to prevent a riot. Sooner we hook up spices the better. Start the road on the iron for when the temple of Pisae finishes and our culture encompasses the iron.

IT - A Bab bowman shows up to the south

Turn 10 - Rome: horse --> horse, Antium's culture expands, Ravenna: walls --> worker.

Contact babs, Maths + 8gp gets us Philosophy and TM (all our gold + maths + world map couldnt get us Map Making from them). They are directly south of Persia. And have 8 cities, two of them are away from the rest though. They don't look that tough.
We are now strong to everyone.

Theres the start of a mini-stack in Ravenna (fat fingered 1 spear to move out of the city tho), if we get another leader, I'd say switch to Lit (only 1 turns research invested so far so you can switch now if you want) and save him for the GLB. Otherwise push closer to Monarchy, if we can reach Monarchy before we get our legions... oh glorious day a non-despotic Golden Age!
India seems pretty gassed, thats why I was putting together another mini-stack to continue pressing them. If we can wipe out India early, thats 1 less civ to fight, and research will be cheaper, not to mention opening up a massive amount of land north of the Great Jungles (which seperate us from the Persians and Babylonians).

Good luck merlin!

and the save

Another glorious early strike in the history ot tupac AW games. :) Seems to get a pattern.

Pre-flight check: Things look good. But it's Emperor and we have met two new civs, Persians and Babs, in AW, so I'll try to toughen our defenses.

Turn 1 (730BC): Start to move a stack from Ravenna to Indian city. Put a scientist in Antium for 1 turn.

Turn 2 (710BC): Antium: worker->spear. Worker to connect spices.

IBT: Indian archer and warrior close to Delhi

Turn 3 (690BC): Veii: settler->spear, Cumae: archer->worker. Wake an eArcher in Delhi and attack archer, we win, no leader. Stack ready to attack Bangalore next turn. (1-0).

IBT: Indian warrior attack against Delhi and dies. (2-0)

Turn 4 (670BC): Cats do zero damage at Bangalore, so delay the attack. Start to chop at Pisae to get iron sooner.

Turn 5 (650BC): Rome: Horse->warrior, Cumae: worker->cat, Pompeii: cat->rax, Ravenna: worker->cat. Cat yellowlines reg spear at Bangalore, shows another. Don't want to risk an attack yet.

IBT: Persian horse dies against our fortified horse on mountain. (3-0)

Turn 6 (630BC): Delhi: walls->rax, Neapolis: cat->settler. Cats do zero damage at Bangalore. eArcher kills archer near Delhi, no leader. (4-0)

Turn 7 (610BC): Rome: warrior->settler. Found Hispalis->walls. Cat yellowlines one spear in Bangalore, attack with archer, it wins, second archer wins too, Bangalore autorazed. Kill Persian archer with horse, but a Persian horse shows up next to it.(7-0)

IBT: Persian horse kills our horse. (7-1)

Turn 8 (590BC): Science to 20%, poly next turn.

IBT: Bab bowman defeat our archer in the jungle -> BAB GOLDEN AGE! (7-2)

Turn 9 (570BC): Poly->Monarchy in 19. Veii: spear->warrior, Antium: spear->worker, Cumae: cat->horse. Cats redline Persian horse near Pompeii, archer kills it. (8-2)

Turn 10(550BC): Again eArcher from Delhi kills an archer, no leader. (9-2)

These were my ten turn. Not real progress, but steady. I'll make a dotmap, there are good sites between Delhi and core.

I'd vote for FP, waiting for GLB would be 20-25 odd turns waiting while holding the GL, I reckon we will get another before then. As soon as we get to Monarchy I say we have to revolt and just try and hold on, the jungle will be our friend in slowing them down. Then lets try and start our GA as quickly as possible.

Why not FP in Delhi. When we build the rest of the cities in my dotmap, we have two good cores and can build more cities to west and north of Delhi.

Pre-turn:
Not sure but Veii was building a warrior swapped him out for a horse

The warrior was to be upgraded to legion once we get iron online.

We get iron soon. And monarchy. So revolution to monarchy, start building legions, use GA to build legions and research Lit. Then next leader to rush GLib.

I'm going to be away from today until the 10th of January so please skip me in any rounds I come up in. I may be able to check the forums and take part in discussion but I won't actually be able to play until the 10th Jan.

Markh's up by the way ;)

tupaclives - skipped
merlin
JJJSpider - just played
Markh - up
madviking - on deck

Allanc (slot in after madviking if he rediscovers this and still wants to take part)

Send the leader towards Delhi
hm, the Persian horse could kill our warrior at Hispalis and take the two workers
taking the spear from the spices would not be good as that would expose our cats
taking the spear out of Hispalis is out of question

IBT : huh, we are lucky as the warrior kills the attacking horse, please don't do that again

Rome : archer -> settler

1) 330BC : archer kills Immortal at Hispalis
horse kills Indian spear at Pompeii

IBT : Veii : spear -> horse

2) 310BC : just moving units

IBT : 2 bowmen and a sword show up

Pompoeii : horseman -> horseman

3) 290BC : kill a Persian spear at Antium

IBT : Monarchy comes in -> code of laws
revolt, 6 turns of course

4) 270BC : found Lutetia
lose an elite archer on a bowman
ehorse kills that bowman

IBT : one more bowman and sword join the party at Hispalis
There is a bab galley approaching Lugdunum

5) 250BC : horse retreaty on Indian spear at Lutetia
horse kills that spear
earcher kills a bowman at Hispalis

IBT : that galley drops a sword next to Lugdunum
Persia wants to talk, no thanks

6) 230BC : horse dies attacking that sword at Lugdunum
another horse kills that sword
archer kills an Indian archer at Viroconium

IBT : nothing

7) 210BC : horse kills Indian warrior at Viroconium

IBT : more bab swords come from the SW

8) 190BC : horse kills bowman without a scratch

IBT : more bab and Persian units appear in the area of Hispalis, one more turn and we are a Monarchy

9) 170BC : horse kills bab sword at Hispalis
earcher kills another bab sword at Hispalis

IBT : We are crwoned as the king of Rome ! :king:

10) 150BC : ehorse kills Immortal at Hispalis

Next IBT we have iron connected, so we can let our legions roll. Persia has expanded in the West.:nono:
