Turn Discussion

Yeah, it's up now. For some reason it was down for like half an hour, according to civstats (and I couldn't connect either). Network outage by the ISP maybe?

Well now you see what happens when you go sacrificing too many virgins! Bad things happen!

OK Cavs, you've had the game paused for a full 48 hours now, despite giving no explanation as to why it was paused in the first place. Time to play your turn and get the game moving again.

As I have stated many times before, there is no point in having a turn timer at all if teams can pause the game whenever they feel like it, at no penalty, and keep the Demogame in limbo indefinitely.

Perhaps the game has reached a stage where we should consider getting rid of the turn timer. Pushing the turn deadline won't help the game if it only hastens us to the point where a team gives up and stops playing their turns altogether. (We went through that in the [c3c] team democracy game - I'm not suggesting Cavs is about to give up.)

Besides, no one actually playing the game has publicly complained about the pause so why can't we continue to exercise our patience?

We havn't complained because everyone knows how SANCTA feels about the pace of the game...No point rehashing it.

That Said as Sulla mentioned, the rules do state a reason is supposed to be given. While I can guess at the reason, I can't be sure.

Tick Tock. 72 Hours and 48 Minutes left on the pause (from this post). Unless of course teams vote it down, at which point once expired anyone can log in an unpause it.

Everyone signed up knowing the time limits...and considering pitboss was chosen specifically to stop teams from sitting on the save, one has to savour the irony of your post, donsig.

Are we required to air all our dirty laundry publicly to justify holding the save? I haven't been around in a while, but I was under the impression we had five days unless the other teams all came in and voted us out of them.

Quoted for reference, bolded for relevence:

4.1 -- Turn Timer
The PitBoss server will give each team 24 hours in which to play the save and pass it on to the next team. If a team is unable to play in time, they may post a request for an extension in the turn-tracker thread, and state the reason they believe it should be granted. AFTER the extension request and rational have been posted in the turn tracker, that team may then pause the game.
The game may remain paused up to 120 hours, at which point any team may un-pause the game so play may resume.
An official vote to “continue sooner” may be posted by any team in the turn-tracker thread. Each such vote by a team will reduce the 120 hour extension by 24 hours.

Does "for an unexpected turn of events" suffice?

Does "for an unexpected turn of events" suffice?

Technically, I suppose it does, but unexpected events are the basis for what makes this game interesting. If every event occurred as "expected", would the game even be interesting at all?

I think more than what Renata stated, might be spoiler information. Thus, I think this should be enough in every teams' interest.

Sullla should be able to assess the situation and see that some time is needed.

I would like to know. when I (MS) must play.
If Cav needs some days more, then please post it. The waiting (+unknowingly) is distastful.

Cav Technically Have ~55 Hours (55 Hours and 2 minutes from this post) Left of "pause" Time.

After that there is ~3 Hours on the clock.

So To answer your Question Husch, The Soonest you could play is immidiately, the longest is ~58 hours. Now if your (Team MS) were to vote off 24 hours, well then the gap goes from Now->58 to now->34 hours.

When the turn does Roll finally you will be notified.

This kind of stuff is why I quit this game the first time.

It is highly likely that Team Saturn will vote for decreasing the timer with another 24h in about 7 hours from this point. If my suggestion goes through, Team Cavalieros will have ~10h to finish their turn.

Huge surprise.

If Cav play in the next 22 hours, I request to pause the save, because I 've no time to play. til sunday.
