Ugliest city in the world?

im gonna second detroit, michigan. its a factory wasteland. though ive heard people say its unsafe and has high crime, but i was downtown at night and felt completly safe.

San Antonio, Texas. The entire city, outside a small downtown core, is nothing but Mexican slums, no matter which direction you come in from. The Alamo can't save it, either, because it's been all whored out with gift shops, hotels, and the like.

Blackpool, England.

Horrible for so many reasons it is hard to list them

Ugliest city I've been to: Nikel, NW Russia.

Stoke on Trent... and Doncaster. All the UK posters will probably agree.
Stoke on trent - yes, its a pile of poop. almost as bad as birmingham (has lots of canels most of which are 1200 years old and are full of sewage, so not so great)
And Calais is a tip. Its basically just a ferry port for england- france crossings, with lots of torist shops. the white cliffs of dover on our end is 100 times better than calais.

I don't mean it seriously ;) I am from Brno, so my duty is to spread a bad picture of our arch-enemy ;) :D
He-he your clock doesn't chime properly! the Swedes are gonna gitcha! :p
Serously though Budapest gets my vote, it was very dingy and covered in graffiti. But i'll give it 10 or 15 years im sure itll be a lot nicer then.

Definitely agree with Stoke-on-Trent, its so higgledy-piggledy it looks like it's been thrown together with no planning by a blindman. It has a retail park, then some factories, then a housing estate, then some shops, then some factories, a housing estate, another retail park......
:vomit:

I just watched a programme about Sarajevo last night. Most of the buildings are riddled with bullet holes and even at one of the local football team stadiums, there are signs up warning fans of uncleared mines outside the stadium.

Probably somewhere in the former East Bloc. Worse than rampant poverty in many parts of the world.

Can you imagine living in a city beside your house is a dirty river with neighboring slums and scattered garbage in the road? Jakarta, Indonesia
Here are some googled pictures:

That even put Philippines' Pasig River to shame. :yuck:

For me, dirty city is an ugly city, some of you has a concept of ugly city as those building with weird structures or those with some deserted barren field.

Firstly, necro.

Secondly, when I first saw that first image, I thought it was a satellite, or aerial shot. Then I saw the boat. Yuck.
