UKIP go from strength to strength

I haven't watched Mock the Week since..2010 but back then it was full of woman who were just awful and it was clear they were only there to fill up some BBC diversity quota. I remember in particular one comedian with origins in Africa, the punchline for half of her jokes were Nigeria..zzZZZzz....Or growing up in London as a black person. I can laugh at that humour but if those two topics fill up your entire repertoire then you shouldn't be on national telly as a comedian.

Dara O Brien doesn't understand UKIP policy then. UKIP has no hatred for individual immigrants, it understands and sympathises the motivation behind immigration. All UKIP is saying is that the present system delivers a net negative onto the UK and that if immigration policy was better managed the UK would have a better deal. I'm surprised someone as well educated as Mr O Brien would make such a catergory error; it just demonstrates Andrew Lawrence's point even better. Say whatever falsehood you wish, as long as you can get a dig into UKIP and get some cheap, hacky laughs.

And why on earth is Farage always photographed with a drink in or near his hand? Is he a borderline alcoholic not even attempting to hide his habit or is he trying desperately to be seen as "one of the lads"?

I found this report on Farage by the Guardian very funny.

..and to be honest, I think Farage is his own man on the drinking/smoking.

Who/what is "Chino Nick" supposed to be? (also what is a chino?)

I expect that refers to Nick Clegg, leader of the Liberal Democrats. Chinos are a type of trousers which were quite trendy a few years back. So they're saying Nick Clegg is "cool".

i find the degree of support you hold for Farage to be slightly creepy. I can get supporting a party, but the amount of attention you lavish on the individual party head, and how you cheer his every move is reminiscent of a cult of personality. Is there a particular reason as to why your posts only contain information on Farage the individual, or his party but never anyone else? Is UKIP's leadership really so unremarkable that Farage is the only politician worth noting?

Luckily, I'm no comedian, so I will continue to make those, indeed incredibly easy because of the wealth of material to draw from, cheaps shots :)

If the UK ever did leave the EU before Farage found a seat in Westminster (which is somewhat unlikely), it would be somewhat ironic as his particular brand of politics would then lead to him presiding over the forced removal of UKIP's gains in the European Parliament, including his own seat there.

I'm not going to dignify this. "Slightly creepy"..bugger off....

I'll bugger off as soon as you tell me one politician worth noting from UKIP besides Farage. If you can't name one, then I'll assume that UKIP is similar to the Nazi party in that it involves a charismatic leader with a platform that largely consists of giving the masses what they want on the issues they care about, while making their own policies on the issues that people don't care about like human rights, resulting in a mixed bag of policies in terms of effectiveness and practicality.

"women-posing-as-comedians..."

So he's above making lazy political gags, but certainly not above cheap and lazy sexism? Right...
Not cheap, gratuitous. Which is worse, really.

Somewhere on TVTropes there is a study on the amount of times Sean Connery's James Bond is seen having a drink.

He has a fixation on him that reminds me of Helga Pataki's for Arnold Shortman.

But Farage would still be a man of the people, destined to lead Britain back to its old glory!

From there:
The party fully supports the existing concept of civil partnerships. Coburn stated, "UKIP’s stance on gay marriage is simple: we entirely, wholeheartedly support equal rights for couples regardless of their sexuality and we believe this has been achieved through the introduction of civil partnerships, which UKIP supported."* The party is not in support of Government proposals for full Same-sex marriage in the United Kingdom. This is on the basis that such a change in the law could mean that religious faith groups, and places of worship (be it a church (building), synagogue or mosque, etc.) could be forced to perform a marriage that is incompatible with their religious beliefs.
So, a) having a civil union is exactly the same as being married; and b) UKIP do not believe in the separation of church and state even at a nominal level.

Print moar money.

So Nick Griffin is a racist idiot, but sometimes you have to give the devil his due. The only thing I've literally ever heard him say that I'd tend to agree with (too lazy to pull up the quote but bare with me) is something along the lines of "The UKIP is bad because of Britain leaves the EU, it will by default, be even closer tied to America than it already is. Britain will not be a truly independent country if the UKIP gets their way, it will just become the 51st state rather than being in the EU."

Only possibly smart thing I've ever heard the man say. I do think if Britain leaves the EU the American gravitational pull will be too strong to bare. I'm an American myself so- meh, up to you.

But the possibility of Britain being involved in American wars/conflicts/interests even moreso than they already are is quite realistic to me... especially if you all leave the EU.

Son and father finally reunite! Well, it's only after father goes into drinking, gambling and women, then gets evicted out of apartment, and has to crash on his father's couch.

In the interest of objectivity I feel it's probably worthwhile to start posting some counter-articles to Quacker's UKIPathon 2014. This one is from last year.

Nigel Farage 'was a racist schoolboy'

Teachers at Dulwich College, the south London independent school, tried to prevent the future UK Independence Party leader from becoming a prefect after offending teachers with far-Right views, it was claimed.
While on a cadet force training exercise Mr Farage and his friends had “marched through a quiet Sussex village very late at night shouting Hitler Youth songs”, according to a letter sent to the Master of the college.

I dislike the way you've framed the question. I'm a nazi or a creep..what...

Show me some respect and I might return the favour. :)

Thanks for the publicity Mr T.

This has been one of my favourite years in UK politics. I hope next year is even better.
