Ultimate Showdown 2.0: Now With More Showdowniness - Handsoff HoI2 AAR

Yay update! :D

Oh boy. Italy or Spain, Italy or Spain. Who to root for... I'm still bettin' on England doing something unexpected. Like, land in Crimea or something.

The US flag is painful to look at now that it's effectively resumed its rightful place in control of the North American continent.

i really wish england would wake up.. but surely its waaaay tooo laaate

Update XI - November 1, 1937 - January 1, 1938

Been a long week, but here it is.

The battle over North Africa is down to Morocco and Egypt, following Morocco's annexation of Tunisia. And now an epic battle across the desert.

107-Tunisia.png

The Omnomnom States of America continues its westward expansion, rolling over Deseret and heading towards the Californian and Cascadian coasts.

106-Deseret.png

In non-Soviet Russia, things go as you would generally expect. Annexing Georgia to open up the path to the Middle East.

105-Georgia.png

Finally, Montenegro. Gobbled up by the big green blob.

104-Montenegro.png

How is the big green blob doing? Not all that great. Spain is now pushing into Germany and Northern Italy, and with no other frontiers to deal with, things are looking somewhat bleak for Italy. Russia's foray into Poland isn't doing so well, with various countries giving them trouble, though they have pushed back into Finland. North Africa is wacky, as is the Balkans, and Middle East. And England. Crazy English.

XI-Europe.png

South Africa has stalled in its push north by the Congo jungle. Aside from that, the main contenders have established themselves on the continent. Ethiopia, Liberia, Cameroon, Egypt, and Morocco are all in fairly strong positions in the north.

XI-Africa.png

India's move westward has continued to stall, though they have pushed a Russian advance into central Asia back. Nepal is still doing its thing. Russia is now deep into Siberia, but they have all the worthless land, so I don't think Siberia really minds all that much. With the Nationalists looking fairly strong, the Japanese see to be moving into Vietnam, advancing from the north and landing in the south, as well as continuing to invade Borneo. Most of the warlords are now on the verge of defeat once again. Things are looking bad for New Guinea, having lost the eastern half of the main island to Japan and Australia. Australia and New Zealand continue to sit on opposite islands, probably have a lively debate on the merits of the kangaroo versus the kiwi.

XI-EastAsia.png

XI-Oceania.png

South America continues to fight it out, cause of course squabbling around and not conquering everyone else is by far the best strategy to combat the coming American invasion.

Here be dragons.

hmmm, think I would bet my money on Newfoundland.

Allright, Nepal is officially the best country in this game. Not the strongest, but the best.

Awesomesauce

Hungary's now got everyone where they want them. :mwaha:

Update XII - January 1, 1938 - April 1, 1938

Busy holiday time is over, so update time. Amazingly the first country annexed is from South America. Crazy, I know, but it really happened. This time its Bolivia getting annexed by the Brazilians.

103-Bolivia.png

The USA continues to omnomnom its way across the continent, gobbling up California and Mexico in quick succession.

102-California.png

100-Mexico.png

Meanwhile, the Japanese continue their invasion of Borneo, annexing Sarawak and giving them half the island.

101-Sarawak.png

India annexes Burma, and I accidentally took a screenshot that forced me to include the ruined my pattern of not having the sidebar in the shot. Combo breaker!

99-Burma.png

The Russian bear marches into Europe, annexing the last two Baltic state, Lithuania and Latvia. Two less obstacles for Russia in its bid to become one of the big players in Europe.

98-Latvia.png

97-Lithuania.png

Finally, Turkey annexes Syria. Watchout Middle East, here come the Turks.

96-Syria.png

Europe is now more or less divided between three superpowers now. Spain has broken into Germany, Italy, has conquered most of the Balkans, and Russia is coming from the east. Sweden is now starting to get pushed back from Finland. I tried giving England a little push, but they lost the battle. So things are going to remain a stalemate over there for a while longer. Egypt lost basically all of their land to Ethiopia, giving Morocco a huge advantage in North Africa. And Lebanon and the other Middle Eastern countries continue to fight it out.

XII-Europe.png

Ethiopia has taken a large portion of east Africa, while South Africa still has a large portion of...south Africa. And now they are deep into the Congolese jungle. Not much exciting besides that.

XII-Africa.png

The Big Orange Blob is now starting to blob its way into the Middle East, and are fast approaching the Mediterranean. They have also taken over most of Central Asia, and are now getting into Southeast Asia and Tibet. But Nepal is still there, so good job to them for holding out so long. Somehow Egypt wound up in Yemen, apparently having marched all the way across Arabia to get there for no real apparent reason. Japan has control of most of Korea, and continues to hold south-central China, southern Vietnam and most of Borneo New Guinea. The Nationalists have made it all the way across Mongolia and continue to make their way across the Warlords' territory. Australia has lost much of its conquered New Guinea territories, but have retaken Sumatra.

XII-EastAsia.png

XII-Oceania.png

Uruguay has marched up the Brazilian coast, which will certainly hurt them. Just random shenanigans across the rest of the continent.

Blue. Lots of blue.

Update XIII - April 1, 1938 - June 1, 1938

The big three of Europe spend the next few months thinning out the herd on the continent, setting up even more land for them to fight on. Italy annexes both Hungary and Romania, creating a long, uninterrupted border with Russia.

95-Hungary.png

94-Romania.png

The Nationalist are now firmly reestablished after almost suffering defeat. The first warlord to fall is Shanxi, giving the Nationalists full control over Beijing.

93-Shanxi.png

The big orange blob continues it blobbiness, taking over Azerbaijan and gaining access into the Caucausus region and another way into Russia, as well as annexing Tajikistan, making glorious nation of Kazakhstan the last one standing in Central Asia.

92-Azerbaijan.png

91-Tajikistan.png

Russia finally gets around to defeating Byelorussia and Ukraine, meaning they no longer have to keep all the divisions they had sitting around the middle of Russia, and can now use them to attack into Europe.

90-Byelorussia.png

89-Ukraine.png

Zombie...Philip II, III, and IV of Spain get their revenge, reclaiming the Netherlands for the crown of Spain. But its Republican Spain...so there shouldn't be a monarchy...I'm so confused now.

88-Netherlands.png

In Communist China, Nationalists annex you!

87-CommunistChina.png

Siberia makes benefit of cultural learnings of glorious nation of Kazakhstan.

86-Kazakhstan.png

Finally, say goodbye to Mongolia. They do not have a Zombie Genghis Khan, so he couldn't help save them from the Chinese.

85-Mongolia.png

England still does nothing. Spain has occupied most of Germany, setting up a potentially epic Battle of Berlin. Deutsch Deutsch Revolution still holds the city, but has the Spanish to the west, Russians the the east, and Italians to the south and north, all on the outskirts of the city. The Italians have pushed the Russians back a little, but haven't broke through. Greece is still holding out in Athens and the Peloponnese, while the Bulgarians are still holding out in a few areas. Sweden probably won't be able to hold back the Russians much longer. The Turkish are pretty screwed, with the Indians moving in from the east, and even reaching the Mediterranean. Morocco now more or less controls Northern Africa.

XIII-Europe.png

Africa is now down to a few front runners. South Africa, Ethiopia, and Cameroon seem to be the strongest, as well as Morocco in the north. Still seem to be having a hard time making progress through the jungles of Congo though.

XIII-Africa.png

Western Asia is basically just India now. They are now into the Middle East, taking the entire Persian Gulf. Saudi Arabia and Egyptian province formerly known as Yemen are all that stand between India and control of the peninsula. Siberia is now being pushed back by both Russia and India. The Nationalists now control a large stretch of land, and have firmly entrenched themselves as a strong power in Asia. Japan is now just trying to hold onto its continental holdings while the Chinese and Indians move in on them. Instead they are moving south, landing in Australia, who they continue to fight for control of New Guinea.

XIII-WestAsia.png

XIII-Oceania.png

South America is still just being South America
