Garde Imperiale (France) - 19 (22-3) While they're solid defensive units, your continent should either be wiped clean or you've established such a strong foothold that the AI poses no threat. They have to be hard built. Not too good for offensive campaigns since they're slow melee units and won't get their +10 combat advantage. Meanwhile, its counterpart, the Redcoat, gets its bonus on foreign lands and spawn for free for each conq---oh wait....sorry...is it too soon?
Hetairoi (Macedon/Alexander) - 22 (21+1) Horse rushes can be awesome. This one has a zero resource requirement, starts with a free promo, has a better promo tree (IMO) than light cavalry, and spawns GGs through natural play. And it upgrades to knights. Top ten is a given.

I'd like to say a word in defense of the Okwhateveraw (the Cree unit). A stronger scout, or a faster warrior is a good idea, but fair enough, these would be much better if they were on the warrior promotion line, not scout.

It's silly to see people judging units like Immortals or Maryannus based off the unit they replace rather than the unit they actually are. Maryannu aren't chariots, they're archers, so comparing them to chariots is silly. Likewise complaining that Immortals are swordsmen who can't take cities is similarly silly since the Immortal is a transformative unit and not just a swordsmen. You can build entire armies based around these guys and they come at the right time to get Persia's ball rolling. They are part of the reason Persia is so good.
