Unit requests thread

Can anyone create a Julius Caesar unit for Civ IV BTS, just like old Civ III Roman King unit? Single unit with no attack and one movement. He could look like roman general in armor with red cloak or wearing a toga, like a senator.

On foot. He should look like roman general (on foot) or roman senator with this laurel wreath thing on his head. I think about one single unit like missionary or great person. Of course in good quality, so no hindu missionary with laurel wreath but true and beautiful Julius Caesar ;) He should also have no attack so he should be protected by other units (his praetorians).

In Civ III I always used a Caesar unit as my emperor - he was occasionally travelling across his empire with his imperial guard and with his imperial ship. So this unit is basically just for fun and it should not be buildable - I am planning to put this unit in my capital (Roma) through worldbuilder.

Well, I thought about something like this:

It was a King unit for Rome in Civilization III. Not buildable and with no attack. Oh, I use Rise of Mankind mod if this is important for modders.

Aquila, Julius Caesar wasn't a Emperor nor a King. He was a Consul of SPQR
:D

Well, yes I know he wasn't actually an emperor or king. He was a King unit in CivIII (if you never played Civ III - every country had there its own King unit) and I was using him as an emperor because when I play Civ I always have an Emperor :D As a roman fanatic I've won a debate today - "which army was better - roman legions or Alexander's army?", so I know few things about Rome.

I think that a Great Engineer mesh with a emperor reskin and a scepter on hand might be a solution

Art is just art. Its like a battery. By itself, it doesn't do anything, you have to connect it first. All the transforming and attack strength and stuff is handled in the Civ4UnitInfos.xml, not the actual art itself.

You know it isn't exact, but I believe the Mexican Musketman that Bernie14 made is basically what you are looking for, you can change the texture on the body easily (because it is the Grenadier's body) and the head can be edited in any graphics program (it is the Cannonier's head IIRC). So you could change that into all types of units.

Cool! I'll try that. My idea failed. -> Nope no luck. I have no idea what I'm doing. Do you mean a graphic program like Gimp? How do you cut and paste a differently triangulated head in nifscope?

PS: Capo - your units are awesome.

I think if you removed the SkinInstance from it and just copied and pasted the branch over to a corresponding node on another model you should be fine, so long as the space is empty. Moving around heads and weapons is pretty easy using this method.

And thanks. :goodjob:

Rename the node in the one you are taking the part from to match the node of the one you are adding it to. Then copy and paste branch. I don't know why, but it works.
