Unit requests thread

Terror Cell Units that can decimate a city or distrupt national security...Counter-Terror Units that can first detect and then destroy cells...Homeland Security Buildings and Techs that can be used to protect your nations population and/or infrastructure...This could change the way Civver's Civ!
 
Could I edit a copy of the submarine unit, change the skin to a version of a terrorist cell, enable that unit to keep the ability to be stealthy to any unit except for the counter-terror unit, enable that unit to act as a land unit and require that same unit to need a boat when crossing water. Give this unit a severe ability towards stacked units or cities population and infrastructure, yet very weak vs a counter-terror unit. Could somebody post or rather guide me to a post that could give a fella some knowledge on easier ways to CREATE (i. e. CIV3) units, buildings, and tech advances??

I think that is either a dingo or ferret light armoured car or a Stuart Light Tank from WW2 just going off the shot you posted, Imperali. It might just be a case of getting a skin made for the Stuart Light Tank to include the UN details.
 
I would like to ask if anybody knows, in which xml file I can set, when the unit is obsolete and must not be displayed in town menu for unit (or buildings) builds?
I mean newly added units, which where not in vanilla game...

I think it depends if unit is upgraded to other unit
and it's for sure in civ4unitsinfos.xml

Yes, in this way work it, when I make UU (replace xxx unit), but by completely new units this system is functionless. I think, somewhere must be possibility add new units hereinto upgrade system :(

My new units as hovercraft, buoy, roboformer etc with this system not work...
 
I would like to see a true aircraft carrier. The on in game is more like a "Super Carrier". Check out wiki to see how a carrier looks and how a super carrier looks.
There is NO "True Aircraft Carrier" in real world:
WW1 - Aircraft Carrier
WW2 - Escort, Light, Heavy
WW3 - assault, S/VTOL, heavy(nuclear)
 
I think that would be a cool idea to have a smaller carrier and the larger type carrier that is in the game, especially if there was variable upkeep. Also the Russian Super Carrier should be in the game to challenge the US Super Carrier. It would be cool.
 
We have seen a lot of great ethnically diverse units, where the generic units from CivIV and Warlords have been made to look more like flavor units for the civilizations.

This has resulted in a lot of great units; however, the units often follow along with how history developed. For example, because the Pharonic Egyptians were replaced by the Saracens, Egyptian units after the spread of Islam are made to look Arab. Similarly, the Aztecs and Inca have European looking units after entry into the Middle Ages.

Therefore, I request that someone make what I am very uncleverly calling "modern-ancients." Using Jaguar, Scout, and Quecha units as a base, some should make musketmen, grenadiers, macemen, longbowmen, infantry, etc... as if the civilization had retained the qualities that made it feel Aztec or Inca but adapted with technology. The same is true for Egypt; use the Pharonic looking units to create interesting pseudo-fantasy units to represent what a Modern Egyptian society would look like instead.

I think this project wouldn't be too difficult. Really it is just using the nif viewer to replace axes, swords, and bows, with rifles, cross-bows, and grenades. However, because I haven't mastered the niff viewer, I thought I would see if anyone else thought this would be interesting.
 
what about unique water units. of corse you have the generic...

but what if each civ had a unique unit for each era, each terrain, etc. like, the greeks have the phalanx. their unique water unit could be a Greek Trireme - increased damage against other triremes, +1 movement.

unique air units would be tough for each civ. the world powers would be easy. Russia, America, Britain, etc. but the lesser ones, the more ancient ones, that would be more difficult.
 
Don't know if these have been requested before, but...

I could use a Kamikaze plane and a Val bomber for the Japanese in my WWII Pacific scenario. Someone made excellent units a while back for Civ 3 and they'd be a great addition.

If you're interested i created Ohka for WW2 1939 Mod

It was made for this mod exclusively - i planned to upload this unit to database after releasing new version of 1939 mod. But if you want use it i'll put this unit to base asap.
 
Are there any religious specific units, like reskinned missionaries with swords in their hands?
