Unit requests thread

Anyone would be interested in putting together a reskin for an 18th century lady? I want to replace the spy in the catsuit with something more appropriate to my mod's time period. Thanks!!
Someone could take one from Sid Meier's Pirates as they did more a Napoleonic General.. I do not know how myself though...

There is such a unit in FfH2, made to use the animations of a settler female; that would cover most of the animations of a spy. She is part of the Lanun settler. She could be reboned into a spy, but I don't think that her dress and the back flip the spy does would work very well together.
 
I have seen a lot of amazing historical foot units created here. However I (and others, I'm sure) would love to see some "what if" modern units. For example a ROMAN Infantry instead of an ITALIAN one. Kinboat made an Industrial Legion for Civ3 that would be an excellent model/concept image http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=89196 Doing something similar with Egyptian, Aztec, Native American (etc.) units would be extremely appreciated.

I could replace the modern spy's graphics entirely, including animation, with the FHF2's lady settler's. No worries about trying backflips while waring 18th century skirts! Is that possible?

That will work for most things. she will walk, fortify, and die, but the spy missions she will just stand there for.
 
A while back someone in either this thread or the graphic modpacks thread mentioned a crocodile (for the FFH mod I believe). I am in dire need of this graphic and I did not see it ever get posted for a new bonus on a new terrain I created: swamps. It can be a unit graphic. I can just make any changes I need. Could someone please help?

I have a request: a xebec to serve as the flavor frigate for the Arabs, Ottomans, Egyptians, Carthagenians, and Persians.

Xebecs were very common in the Mediterranean between the 1600-1850's, and functioned in much of the same role as Northern European frigates.
 
Also, how about ethnically diverse warlords? Especially for the middle ages: that guy is way too feudal. I think something more akin to a General from the high middle ages or even up to the 1500's would be better (and perhaps be believable in the Renaissance, too).

After a few other things I may give a whirl at this. :) It looks like a caravel, just a bit bigger, so it shouldn't be extremely hard. :)
 
Now that beyond the sword is out and I saw White Rabbits awesome riot police. I have a hankering for a string of anti espionage police units. Each would have some sort of anti espionage ability, and a small boost to city defense. I am thinking of something along the line of the following:

Guards(str 3/move 1, melee, 10% city defense, anti-espionage ability, cost:? requires monarchy and classic era, warriors may upgrade to it)

Men-at-Arms(Str 7/move 1, melee, 10% city defense, anti-epionage ability, cost:? requires code of laws, and medieval era, Swordsmen, axemen, archers, spearmen, guards, chariots may upgrade to it)

Militia(str 11/move 1, gunpoweder, 10% city defense, anti-espionage ability, cost:? requires gunpowder, constitution and renaissance era, macemen, musketmen, longbowmen, crossbowmen, war-elephants, horse archers, pikemen, knights, men-at-arms may upgrade to it)

Police(str 13/move 1, gunpowder, 10% city bonus, anti-espionage ability, cost? requires communism and industrial era, militia, grenadiers, Cuirassiers may upgrade to it)

Swat or Riot Police(str 21/move 2, 20% city bonus, anti espionage ability, cost:? requires fascism and modern era, riflemen, infantry, calvary may upgrade to it) this unit would use white rabbits awesome riot police graphic

Of course I have no idea how to make any of this, if an anti-espionage ability is even possible, how balanced they are, what the costs should be, how to make the graphics let alone import them into the game or if you can even make a unit require an era.

All that being said even if none of those are do able I would like a armored car graphic so that I can make the following unit as my learning project.

WW1:
Rolls Royce (British)
Erhardt (German)
Russo-Balt (Russian)

WW2:
SdKfz 222 (German)
M8 Greyhound (US)

Cold War/Modern:
BTR-152 (Russian)
BRDM-2 (Russian)

Thanks snafusmith! I will be playing around with the Erhardt as you have it posted as a single file. I hope to have all this stuff figured out by the time you release your Beyond Modern War mod.

I have found enough acceptable unit skins in the civ4 downloads section for all of the police sting units I want to make except for a 1800's era policeman. So I guess I am asking for one of those as everything else I wanted has already been made:D
 
I asked for a crocodile earlier. Well... I "made" it myself so if anyone is interested let me know. There are a few issues:

1. I am new to blender so I do not know how to create non-tiling skins (i.e. the unwrapped skin that is ususally used) and if anyone knows how, either some hints or an offer to skin the thing for me would be greately appreciated.

2. I got the model for the crocodile from a professor at some school who had a VRML crocodile posted on a web page about 3-d modeling. I converted it to an .obj and then imported it into blender so that I could work with it.

I am concerned with how legal this is because even though it is available for free and there was no "legal disclaimer" on this particular sight, I have found this same model at other sites for free with a stipulation. The websites that have this model say that it is not for re-distribution so I am concerned about that...

Any suggestions? If you are interested in this crocodile, let me know.
 
for a change sth that hasn't been over requested ;)

I'm looking for someone who can create a Mardian Archer (persian civ), and maybe Persian/Bactrian/Hyrcanian Cavalry. I'm planning to use these as unique units in my persia mod (it's 99% done, I'm just adding the cherry on top in form of unique replacements).

if you know what I mean, it should be pretty easy to imagine - if you don't, sorry, I really don't have any pics that would help :(
 
I have a question as well a request:

- I was wondering if there is a thread that explains how to make new units (models, skins and so on) because according to a thread in the ''creation faction'' there is no way to make new models for the game but because there a so many unit mods with new ones I was wondering where the tutorial thread was... (guess I'm blind)

- Just as always I'm asking for Final Fantasy units, but if anybody can send me links to useful tutorials (most useful: modeling and skinning) and information for the software/programs needed, I could make my own. (After a long time) But I won't give up modding easy, I know a bit about XML and I've (day)dreaming about things that would be cool in the game.

So please help me out here and sorry if there was ''the'' tutorial I need but have not found it jet/over looked it.
