Yeah, Spectre FTW!!

And we could give it a bonus against armored units, too.

But we still need the AC-130's graphics, shouldn't be to hard to modify the existing Hercules, unfortunatly I have no knowledge on this matter.

Why a bonus against armour? These aircraft are AP weapons, if an enemy still has armour in the area its a pretty good bet that they also have AD assets that will make short work of a Spectre.

They are used against Armored Vehicles as well Dan. They are CAS aircraft. They are usually used over countries with lack of modern airforce or after their entire air defence and air superiority fighters are destroyed.

I'd like to see that unit too. Too bad i can't design myself.
 
Going to start my own thread with my poor man's AC-130 based on the C-130 Hercules model. I give total credit to Snafusmith for creating a great graphic. I just wish he'd make one closer to the look of an AC-130 with proper animations (guns blazing :)). Stay tuned for it. I'm pretty much done.

Does anyone know of, or have, any of the Babylon 5 ships to incorporate into a mod that is being worked on for FF. Even if no-one has developed anything can they provide me with a link to a step by step guide to creating a new model and all that goes with it?
 
a SSGN that could carry a combination of missiles, spys, and Navy seals would be nice

I can make a quick mod with the Attack Submarine to make it possible to load all of those. If you have a skin, it would be nicer--so you can have a separate unt called something like "Cruise Sub". Send me a PM.


BTW, I am going to make ANOTHER request for a UH-60 Black Hawk! Surprised no one has never made the model for this thing. I need a model so I can do the rest :P

i wanna redo the sub units in my game. the Attack sub is actually the ballistic sub in OTL... so i wanna switch it. i wanna switch the models and names and the like.

Oh, ok, so you want to completely replace the Attack Sub. Well, maybe someone will be nice enough to model a new sub for you. Replacing it in the game--including names and stats, cargo--is easy stuff I can do for you if you don't know how.

btw, I was just looking through the downloads and Snafusmith... he made an Akula class sub, which is Russian--it is an attack sub that can carry missiles. You should consider that. I can take a look into using it if you like.
 
Somebody else made an Akula that is better then Snafu's... I believe it's in the download database.

thats not exactly what i said.
the submarine and the attack sub are two different animals.
the submarine is modeled after the U-boats. U-boats are subs designed for ship-to-ship combat... Attack subs. They tend to have 4 torpedo tubes and a maximum of 36 torpedoes. they do not have space available for BM's
the Attack sub is modeled after the Ohio Class Ballistic Missile Subs. they aren't designed for ship-to-ship combat, though they do carry two torpedo tubes for defense. they have a maximum of usually around 12 torpedoes, but up to 24 BM's.

So, to simplify it, i want to switch their Names and Stats. the models work as is, but they are for the wrong Subs
 
Switching them around will 'only' require a little xml edting, no new units. All units you get out of this thread (assuming someone decides to work on them) will also require xml editing (actually more than your request will), so I suggest you read some of the xml tutorials around here or simply edit the appropriate entries without reading them (as you don't have to come up with anything new, just swap two definitions).

To give you a starter, the units you are looking for are UNIT_SUBMARINE and UNIT_ATTACK_SUBMARINE in CIV4UnitInfos.xml. When switching their stats around, you can also switch their text references around ;)
