Unit requests thread

Hey, just wondering if anyone has made/would like to make a few Steampunk units. Things like clockwork workers, or steam-powered tanks, or maybe a gyrocopter. A sub would be cool, too.

That's been requested several times now. I wonder when someone will finally get around to it...

i will n'd this request. it would be a nice way to launch a tac nuke from the front. or a cruise missile.

I requested this one because the missile can't be seen! I just want a land carrier for nukes and not a single use unit (like strategic bombers). If the missile can be seen I got trouble. So no scud please...

Well, I talked to the guy who does the Fantasy War mod, and he said he'd put me together a steampunk civ from whatever was already on the site. And me being very new and all, this seemed like a nice place to start.

I mean, a steampunk conversion would be freaking sweet, but I would have nothing to offer but ideas. So just a civ is fantastic.

Well, i prefer a scud myself (as missile transport), but adding a cover/launching tube is not that hard.

But from all i know there is no way to make Land Carrier units used by the AI. Or did CCV solve this problem ?

there is a unit like that in the maxriga mod.

And what about summer mountain infantry? (without skies, but with mountain equipment and sniper rifle)

I wouldn't count on it - it won't be soon Making new animations set for infantry is much more complicated (and for example far beyond my current skills) and time consuming than standard reboning and reskinning.
This ski infantry would be fine addition to many mods (including mine) so it would be cool if someone would make it.

i dont think it would need a new animation... though it is possible. my computer is of such low caliber that it automatically turned off animations. it nearly turned off the majority of the functions that allows it to play properly

I would prefer a infantry with skiers, to make recocnizing easy. But, perhaps it is enaugh to wear skiers on the backpack... For me it is important to see what kind of unit it is, not to see a historical alpine troop uniform.
