Unit requests thread

Here is my second unit request, its M47 Tank. Attachment includes texture files which I like it to use 1a_l.dds texture. Model is separated in five different OBJ files. So I hope someone could build from these a working Civ4 unit. So hopefully this reduces the amount of work rather than start it from scratch...

You might try and find a copy of the M-60 I made a while back. It's not quite the M-47, but they were very similar. It would at least work as a good stop-gap for now. I know you can find one in the Modern Warfare Mod, if not check one of the other mega modpacks out there (Wolfshanze, for example).
 
Hello all,

Longtime lurker, but I have a few unit requests for a minor mod that I am planning to make. They are missionaries, and I need 7, of which vanilla ones can be used for quite a few. Can any of you please either direct me to a missionary type unit or make one as described below?

I have blender, but I suck with it. I could probably learn to make a few basic Nif and GIMP modfications. Or, should all else fail, I could just use vanilla missionaries.

1) Missionary 1 has the body of a standard swordsman but a book/staff instead of the sword.

2) Remove the glowing head from the Great Engineer to get the second missionary. Sort of like what Kael did with the Octopus Overlords missionary in FFH 2.

I can do most of the skinning on my own. Its the modeling that I suck at. BTW, I have BTS 3.17.
 
Can someone please put the Praetorian head on this unit? If someone can, that would be appreciated.

changed the head, tested and the changes worked in game, perhaps you change the shield [make it smaller :confused:], atm there are some problems with certain animations (used keshik, most visible in attack and fidget). Also only non shader meshes

Thanks, the shield isnt much of a problem becasue the unit will be viewed from far away and with combat, it doestnmatter that much.

Just a question, how would I go about removing the crest on the helmet? I think it has something to do with the alpha chanel or transparency, but beyond that I dont know.
Another question, is there any way to add the mali_skirmisher shield to the dismounted prodromoi model that IIRC was made by aranor using nifskope? The warrior and shield are one model though.

in this case is not so hard, first make the unit texture the base map and remove the reamcolor as texture (there is only teamcolor or transparency possible), also remove the main texture from the decal slot. As next step you can change the position of the crest on the uv to make it a bit easier to change (it´s necessary to have the real texture as base map, with teamcolor.bmp as base texture it is a bit "different"). Also rmb on the model and choose node - attach property - NiAlphaProperty, set the flag like shown (sometimes it´s necessary to play around with the options [especially alpha test function], but iirc greater will work in most cases.)

After this save the nif, open the texture and give the part with the crest full transparency, save and finished [sometimes transparency will give you strange result with the visibilty of objects, it seems that the order of the objects in the nif is important, objects in the order below the object with transparency are somwtimes not displayed if behind the transparent object].

Or make the above as exercise and use the attached file ;)

it depends, if the shield has it´s own node, reduce the scale and add the shield you want, but with higher scale.
In the other case and you want to do it in nifscope, there is a dirty way reasonable as long as the shield has not to many vertices, go to the NiTriShapeData of the model, go to vertices. Now you see every vertices of the model and their position which can be changed. Now you "only" have to find all vertices (the selected one is highlighted yellow in the 3d view) of the shield you want to remove and set them to 0,0,0. After this add the shield you want.

If it is any help, this is the unit I am trying to replace the shield on.
 
something like this? [if yes, it was options 1, there was a shield bone, if you look i reduced the scale to 0.001 and raised the scale of the new shield to 1000]

Yes, thank you. What I dont understand how to do is put the shield on the correct node. (shield) When I tried to do that the model dissapeared.

I'm requesting a refinement of the Zulu Impi units' spear. It should look more like the Zulu spear in which Shaka invented. Known as the "Iklwa", it would do the Zulus' alot of justice in Civ IV.

Hey all - Busy working on my new mod and found out i'm missing a unit (Nazi Germany)
It's a ME 109TL (Messerschmitt) one of the first jet powered aircraft towards the end of WW2. Pretty much looked everywhere in the forum with no luch. So if someone could help, there's no rush if someone decides to pick up the project. I've included a picture so people can take a first look at what it would look like

Wasn't the first jet that saw action in WWII the Messerschmitt ME 262?
 
That probably was the first Messerschmitt Jet in WW2. That's why i typed one of the first as i wasn't saw.Any ideas whether someone has drew this unit or if anyone would be interested.

There is at least one Me262 floating around here (from Asioasioasio I believe) and from what I can see the two look similar, so you could get away with a repainted version.
 
May I ask again for a railroad artillery and a soldier on skiers, or do you get bored about this? With the camel rider, it helped at last, to ask again and again...
