Unit requests thread

The Capo: I looked at your cavalry and grenadier, and it seems that yuou have the wrong shader turned on. With the only the base map as the texture (thats how you have these two units set up) you need to turn the shader to TCiv4Skinning (this is only for non metallic units)instead of the one your using. That will make it anFX version. If you were wanting a non shader as well, you will have to turn your base texture as teamcolor.bmp then your normal texture as detail map.

I have no idea what that means.

Can I do this in NifSkope?

When dealing with the textures/shading I use sceneviewer alot. If you have the wrong shader or texture it is readily apparent or the model will break apart or appear all black ( as was the case with these units).

When I looked at them in Nifskope there was no discernable difference between the Grenadier and the Rifleman (in that the teamcolor area looked the same for both and was see-through/invisible) so I couldn't really figure out what to do about it. Is there a tutorial on this or anything?

I'm fairly certaint that you can. But as youve seen there are some things that arent readily apparent in nifskope's viewport. That is why I use both nifskope and scene viewer when making units. Nifskope for about 99% of things and then scene viewer for the more aesthetic and/or quick and easy fixes.

There is in fact a tutorial:

The tutorial deals with sceneviewer, but it explains shaders and team colors very much in detail. Once you learn that then you should be able to figure out how to do it in nifscope. But I still suggest you atleast learn how to do it with sceneviewer as well. If you still need help with it, I would be willing to help you out wiht your units (plus the more I help you the faster the new Alex LH will be ready)

Anyone got some kind of policeman or RMP (red beret marine preferably NOT the special forces or paratrooper one by GarretSidazka)

Okay, I'm really not that good at making proper units. I had a lot of trouble adding team color to my superhero unit.

So, if anyone wants to take a crack at it, here's a link

How about jules verne looking units and buildings.

Brass weapons, ships and tanks and helmets etc.

The flaw of history? it mentions the "bronze and iron age" but doesn't mention the "Brass age" which happened in hollywood more than anywhere else i suspect.

I would like to request a Serbian Chetnik unit as a replacement for infantry, here are some photo links:

the one thing they must have is the beard, very symbolic
thanks in advance! :D

Well, the furry hat can be done easily (I can retexture a fez), as well as the beard (Rabbit, White made a beard nif for the Boer Commando unit), and I think the machine gunner's body would be well suited to it, so I'll see what i can do.

cool thanks! I wish I knew how to do it, but thankfully there tons of talented people on these boards!

I have run into a problem. I am certain I saw a fez on a unit somewhere, but I cannot find it.

No, it was an actual, little red fez! Someone made it and I have it somewhere, but i cannot find it!

OK, this is a rough mock-up, I haven't changed the textures or anything, but tell me if you like it so far.
