Unit requests thread

I would like to make a request for Gekko from Metal Gear Solid 4.

I'm looking for all kind of civilian pre modern (medieval would be best) units like children, old men, fat men, grandmothers etc :) Any ideas?

Maybe some of the settler units from coffee junkie's Ethnic Mix More Mod might work for you. Also *shameless self-promotion mode on* some of the units from my Female Great People and my Female Missionaries modcomps look medieval. *shameless self-promotion mode off*

Great links ... that will improve my Ice and Fire mod immensely and I'm confident to be able to implement the hostage/marriage feature soon ... :)

Thanks for your help again ... if you find more units like that I'd appreciate any hint ;)

Additionally I want to bump a former request that wasn't answered yet.

REQUEST: Small change on an existing unit

NO texture or animation change, just give the knight long brown hair instead of that strange hairdo :D I guess there are just some nodes that must be altered ... don't know ...

Here's a picture of the model I added in the .rar and a portrait of the character.

I also would be very grateful if you can tell me how to do it myself without learning a whole tutorial about blender, 3dsmax or cinema4d ... I'm not (yet) interested in animating or developing new units. I just want to know how to give an axeman a sword or how to give a bold man long hair :)

Here's the link to the attachment from page 181

No problem. :)

For your next request:

A short version what to do can be found here:

and some more information should be found here:

(just search for 'head')
The main problem is that you'll need a head without a body first, and that is most likely Blender work. However, I could extract the head for you if you point me to the unit whose head you want to use.

Edit: Alternatively you could give the unit this hood and reskin it to look like hair. Maybe that could be a workaround.

Okay, thank for the help and the links :)

The attached the SWORDSMAN.RAR file where you can find the ordinary swordsman from FfH2. His head would be great for the "Knight of Flowers" that I posted.

I just tried it myself ... want to get the blonde head without helmet from KINGSLAYER_HEAD.RAR on the knight in KINGSLAYER.RAR ...

First problem: Can't open the gladeguard1.nif in blender .. always returns an error ... guess I have to search for a tutorial how to import in nifskope saved nifs to blender :P

Hm, no problem here. I'm using Blender 2.49b. You know that you need a special script to open nifs with Blender, right? (http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/Blender)
I extracted the head for you, it can be found in the attachment.
With the other head you are quite lucky, because that unit's head is already seperated, so no Blender work is needed. :) Just click on it in NifSkope and you'll see that only the head will be highlighted. In fact, when you move that head up a bit, you'll see that the small original head is hidden under it. :D

I must confess that I have no clue how to get the seperated head (the blonde one) to the nif file of the knight. And also how to get the textures to the knight file properly ... i fear I need to work on nifskope (and blender) tutorials *sigh* ... so little time for so much work :)

I guess you'll have to, but don't worry, it's not very complicated and it's very useful once you mastered it. ;)

thanks for all your help ;) And your female great person and missionary models are really awesome! Will include a lot of them into my mod ...

You are welcome. Good luck with your mod and with learning to modify units. And don't hesitate to ask if you run into problems. :)

great ... so I put the head on the paladin body (and deleted his head before that) and it should look like this

but ingame it looks like this

I attached the file again :P

There was a little problem with saving the unit with Blender. I hoped that wouldn't matter, but it seems like it does. :)
Well, I managed to make the body and cape reappear by deleting the NiSkinPartition Nodes within the individual NiSkinInstances. I hope that does not create new errors...
The problem with the head is that you haven't aligned it with a bone yet. It must be made a children to BIP Head similar to the sword being a child to BIP R Hand. You can see what I mean by clicking on the sword and checking the entry in the block list.
Both done the unit should work (I hope ;)).
