United States and a "Union"

I think an Empire would be better than a union.
An Empire of English speaking languages.
America(Co-leader), Canada(w/o Quebec), UK(Co-Leader), Belize, Australia, New Zealand, Guyana, and South Africa. With India as a protectorate.

The suggestion that all would submit to the US and UK as co-leaders tells me that you really don't understand the general sentiments of Canadians, Aussies, Kiwis etc.

Indeed. My initial proposal was for the ruling body of the confederation to be composed of an equal number of representatives from each member state of the confederation.

When the Canadian culture is based on "HEY GUYS, WERE NOT AMERICAN!!!"

Don't expect us to want to unite any time soon.

Something similar has already been discussed. Keep up. :p

Or how about we united all the Americas and Britain, and Australia, and call it Oceania? We could even have an Ingsoc.

This is a clear example of why Anglicization is pure evil. :goodjob:

Wait, so Canadians hate Americans? :(

It's because they are jealous of our mad hockey skills (as well as playing better gridiron football) and our republican institution. Their head of state lives in another country. That has to be an ego bruiser.

No, we just need to make sure the world knows we are independent and non-American.

However, any anti-US government does get a good number of fence sitters (usually for the liberals, harper seems to be in love with them these days)

And mention the city of Phoenix in Winnipeg and be prepared to die.

And this is where it would come to a screeching halt for Canada.

The sad state of the US dollar and defecit is not exactly something we wish to be burdened with, and since our influence on a central bank would be minimal our distinctly different economic needs (resource based) would be overshadowed by those of the US (manf based), monetary policy would not fit for our needs.

Yeah, it is a issue worth revisiting in a few years (like 20ish). You never know what might change. How do you feel about the other stuff? like resident alienship for example?

Let me put it this way. I will make the statement "Canadians are not Britons". Watch how nobody interprets this as "Canadians hate Britons".

I may be wrong, but I think current NAFTA rules have something to that effect anyway, though it may be only for licensed professionals.
