Units From Wyrmshadow

Here is the 3rd batch. If you need to know what they look like, just take a second look at my BMP's or other similar tanks:
Ambush German, Arab Desert, Australia, China, Denmark, Germany, Iran, Japan, Russian, Sweden, UN.

The only thing I don't have is that really cool urban camo from the British Berlin Brigade.

What part of URBAN CAMO confused you?

Now that I'm at home and not on my phone I can give a proper reply.

This is a 1970's era camo on a 1970's British Chieftain tank. It's mean for urban warfare in Berlin. What happens when you have a city battle? Lots of rubble, lots of strait lines and right angles of blocks in that rubble.. things you don't find in nature. So a blocky paint job like that would be good in such an environment to break up the silhouette of a tank. And this was before anyone heard of digital anything or even pixels.

And the Philippines still uses it for their Marine amtracks.

yuuup, i was right it is digital pattern

Spoiler :
The Soviets milled the optics in their tank sighting systems in such a way as to leave “lines” that formed a sort of invisible grid on the lens, this “grid” translated to 4” squares at 1,500 meters. Therefore, if a Soviet gunner looked at a U.S. tank painted in Dual-Tex, the 4” squares in the paint—meshed with the optic milling lines—and made it hard for the gunner to sight in on the target.

Spoiler :
In 2004, the Canadian Military and the U.S. Marine Corps announce a new “digital” camouflage pattern. After years of research, the scientists agreed: The human eye has a hard time tracking “pixilated” patterns. The Marines were granted patent number 6805957 for their new pattern. The extensive patent documentation cites Col. O’Neill’s work and the Dual-Tex concept in depth. It seems that the good Colonel was years ahead of his time!

and i think it has something to do with sattelite images, small objects are pixellated and thus dissapear.......

11 new AMX-30's posted in the database. I think I've run out of camos for generic tanks for now.

Batch 3 downloaded, tested in-game, they all look awesome! :goodjob:

24 camo/colour variants!!! That must be a record for Civ3!
I remember when I thought it was so cool to have two... :old:

Now the AMX-30 is the most versatile tank in Civ3 ....

Amazing stuff, but surely a Russian AMX-30 is perhaps a bit over the line he-he.

Would be nice if the British MBT Centurion could get some variations too, that MBT was indeed used by many many countries in all these very lovely camos.

Real ARTWORK, and the AMX itself is as always outstanding work.
Thanks SIR

This is the very rough texture WIP. I still have a lot to do to line up all the seems and blur things. Don't expect many variants with this one. Standard, desert, green, UN is all I have planned.

Finally this long missing tank now will come. That´s wonderful! :bounce:

sent off to Ares. By his hints maybe he might finish my ships too.

The French Beast is posted in a new thread along with all non US/Soviet designs.
