I have heard of Maple Story (don't play it) but what is Runescape?

I used to play, I now content myself to logging in once every 4 months to keep my account alive and listening to a grade 7 and two younger boys talk about it on the bus in the morning (that is when the other little kids aren't a little too hyper, I am glad the next stop is only 5 minutes away and they get off).
