UnRestricted Leaders- Most Powerful Leader Civ Combo?

As for interesting combos, Ashoka of Aztec is also a pretty damn good combo (assuming one use the whip).
Neat idea, but Jaguars would be pretty lousy without the AGG bonus. How about Hammurabi of the Aztecs? AGG (to boost your Jags) + ORG (for cheaper Altars) could be fun.

Hammurabi is indeed quite fitting, but anyway the point of jaguars is not their strength but the speed they give to your rush (they go faster over jungles/forests with the right promo and come sooner). Also, I value spiritual far more than agressive (civic switchs)... that's why I prefer Ashoka over Hammu.

Cheers :)

I don't know about most powerful, but Gandhi of the Arabs would be solid for a religious economy that still had the production potential to attack people and support expansion, as long as you had the mids (priests and great prophets).

Would it work on Emperor? I've only tried it on Prince and Monarch. Works well on the former, OK on the latter.

Not sure if anyone's pointed this out yet, but imagine an AI with Montezuma of Rome. lol wouldn't want to be his neighbor!

Tokugawa of Ethiopia Drill 2 Combat 1 CG 1=epic...

I tried a few Mehmed of Carthage games today, but didnt get enough :commerce: plots on my paps so were too slow at the start of the game.

The problem with Pacal of Carthage is that the Ball Court is actually preferable to the Cothon - it is cheaper then the Aqueduct replacement that the Ottomans have, and is pretty much the only :) building you will need to use for ages.

Whereas whan you play Carthage normally with Hannibal, you have your CHA trait for happiness, but no cheap Granaries and Harbors, which are the first two building build in every city followed up by a courthouse. Pacal has more :heath: and cheaper buildings, but the Ball Court is too good for him to replace.

I need FIN for coastal maps, or if I'm going to play Mehmed I need a strong riverside start to make up for it.

I am going to try Elizabeth of Korea, but as said above the stock exchange is better.

+10% :science: is really weak compared to the bonuses that other civs get - and the Cothon, Rathaus and Ball Court all boost your economy much more significantly (Ball Court = work two more tiles with 0% :culture: slider, and you are able to run :science: slider 10-20% higher and work the same number of tiles as other civs).

Lots of civs have extra :) buildings, but usually the bonus is added to a non happiness building meaning that you need to waste time building an aqueduct or a jail for the bonus, wheras with maya you just need to build the Ball Court.

But having said that, Hanibal can just build cheap monuments for the same effect up untill astronomy, plus he has the cothon and dammit I cant find a better leader now except for Elizabeth of Maya maybe for philosophical.

I actually like to chase Stonehenge with Hannibal, its very good for spamming cities.

You see, with stonehenge, your monuments get removed with astronomy. If you build them manually, the ones you build stay in your city with the :) bonus throughout the game.

I always try for Kremlin and on a large island statue of lib, on top of mausoleum + taj mahal, all of which and more are possible on noble, but on Monarch and higher it is hard to rely on wonders without an IND civ.

Pericles of Maya can also work. Ball Court > Odeon, but no economy boosts for higher difficulties.

I think the happiness obsoletes with Astronomy, whether you build em or SH em. You do continue to get the Culture, which has likely doubled by now, but other than that, the happiness bonus expires with Astro. Thats why I also like to build the Eiffel Tower with CHA leaders.

It still says +1 :) on the monument in all my cities though, so I'm not sure, I didnt check the happiness popup after astronomy, but the monument still says +1 :) when highlighted.

Yes, but if you look at the actual happiness number, there is a list of where it comes from, and its not there. Monasteries also do this after Sci Meth, its especially confusing with the AP Monastery, it says "+2H" but you dont get em.

It's possible to suck up to Monty if he's adopted a religion.

Genghis and Shaka don't care about religion, making it much more difficult to keep them from attacking.

Yeah, Monty is mad, but just about controllable. Genghis and Shaka - and Alex, who always seems to get left out of lists of AI warmongers for some reason - are just plain mad.

Not for culture or running artists. I prefer Odeon.

I didnt realise it lets you run more artists sorry.

+1 :) = 1 extra tile or specialist.

Im not really too fussed about the Odeons extra culture, I like to use the Pavilion or Obelisk for culture games, but I havnt played one in ages yet.

One similar UB that I dont understand is the Hippodrome. It gives 2x as many :) from the culture slider, but they dont have any artist slots. But again, they do allow you keep your :science: rate set higher.
