I havnt played with unrestricted leaders much but am wondering if anyone out there spies some really sick synergy between any of the leaders and a particular Civ.

Based on the recent most powerful trait threat Darius, Fin/Org, would be top leader. I also imagine Rome would be a top Civ due to UU. But I think the Forum calls for a Philosophical leader and Prates for Aggresive.

So how about Alexander of Rome?

What combos do you all see?

Don't know about the most powerful, but a couple fun combos:

- The obvious Boudica of Rome, for uber Praetorians.
- Toku of England, Redcoats under steroids.
- Darus of Holy Rome for the ultimate economy.

I'll throw a few novel ones into the ring:

Churchill of the Native Americans - that is a *really* nasty Xbow rush.
Jao of the HRE - he expands like mad and can Rathus away the cost.
Cyrus of Carthage/Mongolia - makes GGs like mad and let's your flankers decimate the enemy quick.
Toko of Ethiopia - Oromos with 4 free promos.
Lincoln of Egypt - Let's just say that Obelisks and juiced up WC are ownage, k?
Lincoln of Byz - now THAT is quick rush to guilds to behold (not to mention 3 promos out the door catas being rocking).

Pacal of inca is pretty damn hot... Especially in SP, due to the UB he is not actually bad in mp either, but the UU is rather bad there... Other favourites include zara/hammurabi of summeria, anything of india and boudica of rome.

UB Based:
Mehmed, Pacal, Isabella, and Peter are all fun leaders for the Incans. I personally like Mehmed the best of the four.

I like Mehmed of the Aztecs. Cheap granaries work well with cheap Sacrificial Altars.

UU Based:
Churchill of Mali could be interesting. I'm not sure that a Skirmisher rush could work, but this would be the guy to try it with.

Napoleon of Persia gains nothing over Cyrus for the war. But he recovers much easier.

IMO, if you're selling out a skirmisher rush, you want toku. You even get the rax up faster. On marathon this max speed would let you bowl over even immortal easily.

IMO nappy is best represented with a mongol flag :p. CHA and IMP are the only traits that help the mounted line, and CHA in particular is strong for them. Your keshiks start 1 xp away from lvl 3! This opens up some abuse potential like mass combat III march for almost never-ending charges or keshiks that instantly beat spears in the field.

Unless Nappy is some wacky nickname for Cyrus, Napoleon's traits are CHA/ORG. ;)

And Cha keshiks would be 1xp away from level FOUR not three. 0xp is level1

But I think the Forum calls for a Philosophical leader and Prates for Aggresive.

Personally, I'd say the opposite for both these:

Forums give a larger boost to non-phil leaders - bonuses are additive, so a non-phil leader goes from 1.0 to 1.25 (25% boost), while a phil leader goes from 2.0 to 2.25 (12.5% boost).

Praets are so strong as is that there's no need for "military" traits like aggressive. They have no problem killing everything as is, so IMO, you're better off going for a leader who could support the massive empire you're going to capture. Someone like Darius, Mehmed, or Mansa.

My personal fave is Hammy of Sumeria. Cheapo barracks and free combat I for an insane Vulture rush, then early access to quarter price Courthouses to pay for all the cities you've captured.

I recently tried:
Lincoln of Ethiopia with the Gunpowder rush strategy described in I don't remember which thread. With Charismatic, Drill4 Orromo are very nice ...

After reading Mad's latest RPC, gotta go with Frederick of Sumeria for the ultimate EE. Philo to get the GSpies faster, and the early courthouses so you can get those spy specialists working!

Gandhi of Byzantine
Turn cultural slider up to 100% and watch how you get 25 happy faces. :) Philosophical and spiritual will help in specialist economy.

Churchill of Babylon. Kind of like Churchill of the Mali, only spiffier. :)

Is there a way to get a PHI/Ind leader with for instance Rome? I would like to try this combo out for an OCC.
