Upcoming scenario: Axis & Allies

And playing the game without v.1.33 is not an option (simply too many major bugs)

The one that is downloadable from The Underdogs? I didn't discover any bugs, actually.

Oh, and Curt, nobody is rivalising, the only one who still takes that discussion seriously is you... So please relax, dude! ;)

My post:
Cool! Another high res units supporter!
I´m proud to be a member of the anit-nemo graphics association
Well, i admit that i like the infantry; but in the case of tanks and planes...

CurtSibling´s post:
And I reject this stupid stupid rivalry over graphics.

People that are going against each over bmp or gif files do not deserve to even be in this community.

Damn! Am I responsible for this stupid discussion? I was just kidding that´s all.
Curt, i think you are taking this discussion way to serious. I didn´t even want to create a real "ANGA" association :D
Some people like Nemo units, others prefer hi-res units. That´s all.

Oh, but it is also your first time playing right?

There are at least 3 major bugs that I have encountered:

1) After round 2 or 3 the game gets extremely slow so you have to restart.
2) In each game the Germans land their bomber and some fighters in Ukraine after capturing the territory which: a) Is not allowed following the rules, b) is very, very stupid considering the Soviet counterattack that will follow the following turn.
3) The japs (which I mostly play) encounter bugs in Asia where sometimes airplanes cannot land in territories they have captured long ago or cannot build from factories they also have built several turns before. Pretty frustrating. :crazyeye:

But maybe you mainly have played the Germans eh Insurgent?

Have you experienced anything like that Eivind?

You got me there... ;) Yes I only played as Deutschland, I thought the sudden decrease in speed was due to something else (like the activity of several other programs, Winamp, AIM, ICQ etc.)...

If we played MP against each other, the error with the Germans wouldn't happen, since it would be played by humans, right?
I wouldn't know about the Japs, but I will soon.

What could I do then to find a way to play MP with you guys?

I have never tried to play A&A as MP, but as far as I should know there shouldn't be any problems. If we all have the "Underdogs" version is just a matter of one setting a game up using tcp/ip and the rest joining. Then hopefully the Japanese bug wouldn't be present. The German bug will of cause be eleminated by a human player.

Acutally the speed problem can be solved by saving the game at the start of each 2nd turn. Quit and then load the game again. Another way to solve this is to copy the movie and music files from the original A&A CD (just 2 pieces) into the Blitz game overwriting those.

Anyway there shouldn't be any problems. So let's make a deal: Let's try it out sometime at the end of feb. Anyone up to that?

Sure, I'd of course prefer it to be in the vacations (17th-23rd), but if that's not good with you, I'll try to make time for it... :goodjob:
So, I'm in!

This project has been put on ice for quite a while now, but the last week the progress has accellerated enormously.

The problem:
For some reason my Pain Shop Pro won't export my units.bmp to *.gif, non interlaced 97.

Could someone check it out for me and help? :king:

Blitzkrieg units.bmp

I got this message, but it exported the file.

Thank you for trying, but the colours are just as screwed up in that file...You don't see it before you zoom in on it :(

Rats! Probably wouldn't work, but have you tried copying the gif into a regular Units.gif? That's a toughy, reducing to the Civ2 palette.

Alternately, if its just a few colors that are off (like that moldy green on the Me262 and Panther), why not replace them in PSP after reducing to the Civ2 palette?

Looking forward to play your scenario Eivind :goodjob:

(and snatch some inspiration  )

BTW, we are going to kick Danish ass in Parken tomorrow :D (football match between Norway and Denmark :) )

So, how goes it with this scenario, Eivind?

It's looking good! :)

He,he,he,he

Good game though. Norway played very well too :king:
