Trump's Defense Department is mulling over sending US ground troops into the Syrian civil war.

No word on whether the White House intends to confirm with the War Powers Act. This law requires the President to confer with Congress before sending troops into hostilities and limits their use to only 60 days without Congressional authorization.

The next big target is the ISIS capital of Raqqa. A US-back coalition of Kurds and Arabs is within 20 Km of Raqqa. Turkey troops and its amalgam of rebel groups are further away to the north. They fear a Kurdish victory will be a stepping stone to a homeland, which Turkey fiercely opposes. Assad's troop with Russian air support have come up from the south, but they have twice been beaten back.

So...does the US really want to jump into urban warfare? And, if so, which faction does it want to support?
