V1.15 BETA Release

I have Succession Games running in 1.12 and also in 1.13. I got a recommendation to just copy the 1.12 exe of Conquests under a different name before installing 1.13 and it works. I have two different patches running now. Is the same procedure also possible with this 1.15?

* Updated AI Strategies in Conquests: Mesopotamia - Galley (Naval Power), Enkidu Warrior (Offense), Rise of Rome - All legions (Defense OFF), MesoAmerica - Acali & Great Acali (Acali:Unload/Upgrade & Naval Transport, Great Acali (Upgrade Unit OFF), Age of Discovery - Javelin Thrower (Offense), Missionary (Capture, Offense), WWII Pacific - Fighter Bomber (Bombard!)

I'm not sure what this means - in Rise of Rome, legions won't concentrate on defense any more?

What I would like to know, as it is not clearly addressed:

Is the distance factor for corruption measured from the original palace, or the nearest palace?

That is, afaik, what keeps us puzzled!
One core, or two cores! Quite a difference in strategy!

The rank (or OCN) part is measured from the palace, while the distance part is measured from the nearest of the FP/palace.

So it's one-and-a-half core. You need the FP core close enough in rank, but as long as there aren't too many other cities closer to the palace than the FP core, then the FP core may be on the otehr side of the earth and still be productive.

Looking at how 1.13b has worked, it SEEMS like:

- Distance corruption is calculated from the nearest capital (therefore FP gives a second ring / core of productive cities)

- Rank corruption is calculated only from the palace.

I'm enjoying my current game though :p So I'll have to hurry up and finish because I don't want to risk a patch install mid game.

However... As soon as I'm done I do intend to take a snapshot of my Civ (I figure a few advisor / city list screen shots should do the trick), install 1.15b, and then reload a save and see how things change (corruption wise).

Thank TNO!

I figured it out. The only thing about it is this:

Say you have 2 cores of 10 cities, and then you start building cities in between, it might seriously damge the productivity of the 2nd core. That is somewhat funny.

But in general, I think this a very very good solution! I may have been a bit harsh on Firaxis, but I realise it is a brilliant thing to let us fanatics take a look in their development kitchen, nad even let us have influence on the matter!

Furthermore: rumours go that the PBEM load your opponent's or own turn in sologames bug will finally be adressed properly [dance] .

Sorry if my question has already been done, but search doesn't work.
I have C3C in Italian. Is it possible to apply the patch? What are the possible problems? What are the correct steps to do?
Thanks

I don't knoe exactly what steps to follow.

But, the highest chance to get a fast answer are to go to the General Discussion forum and ask the question in the quick answers thread.

You will find out there a 100s of people here willing to help you!

Do you use the Italian version of C3C (that is, if there is any...)?

In that case you would have to select the right language (Italian) for installing the 1.15 patch. From a quick look when I installed it, I just saw that there were English, German and French (I think) versions, but since I am running C3C in English for better and easier upgrades/patches, I didn't put any attention in what other languages are provided.

Everything else has been mentioned by Tavis (first posting in this thread).
I did the installation and it worked fine for me, I haven't encountered any problems and currently I am continuing a saved game from 1.13.

It means, if you're not playing Rome, you'll be on the wrong side of their swords. ;)

---------------------

Anyway, as for the patch, communism looks really nice -- very low corruption in the test I did.

With the german version the patch doesn't work properly. It searches for "warrior.ini" but it must be "Krieger.ini". Therefore it crashes!!

Beta patch 1.13 said

v1.13 BETA
* Fixed Random Civ MP Launch OOS
* Adjusted Corruption Calculations
Capitals (Palace, FP, SPHQ) have very little corruption
Max Corruption is now 90%
FP & SPHQ now give 50% more cities to your optimal city count (This makes it extremely valuable to the AI)
* Secret Police HQ no longer gives effects when player leaves Communism
* Updated Civilopedia.txt Forbidden Palace to explain that all cities are still affected by distance from the Real Capital.
* Fixed Credit Typos

Besides v1.15 saying that the courthouse now is 10% instead of 5%, and the changes in AI strategy, what is the big change between these patches?

I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything, but since there has been so many patches in a row I am just not clear on the big benefits of immediately installing a new patch. Was v1.13 bugged?

Is it true that the courthouse and the strategies are the only change? Please someone explain the differences in the two patches in terms that the casual player can understand.

I want to know:

1) When "F3 - the touch of death" bug will be fixed? I've seen it three times yesterday.

2) The changes listed in civilopedia seems to be the same as those listed for 1.13. Are they really the same? Or there are a new one not listed in the patch?

3) Can I made a backup for "text" folder and uninstall all previous patches and then install 1.15 and replace "text" folder with that backup (I'm using 1.13)?

Did you check the German version to be installed? If yes, a solution would be just to rename the "krieger.ini" to "warrior.ini".
Although there is a certain probability that other files haven't been renamed either.

The military advisor works fine with me... and did this in all patches. So, if your system crashes at the military advisor, I don't think that the game / patches can be made responsible for this.

The military advisor works fine if I don't have much units and no spy on my enemies.

It seems that when a lot of units should be displayed, occur the bug. It may be related to battles too. When I press F3 after a battle, the black screen appears, then the game is gone...

Bello, if you check the topic about bugs, you'll see many people talking about this bug, and even with F1.

Hmm, I'm playing Conquests 1.02 and I do get the F3 crashing sometimes.

I also do not understand, while building the space ship, I can access the screen, no problems, but after building all the parts, I can't access the SS screen anymore, clicking it does nothing.

In my opinion there is too much corruption, even under democracy, it says minimal and I have at least a 20% total corruption.

Difference between republic and democracy in corruption is nuisance vs. minimal but the real difference is just too small.

These Beta Patches are getting rather confusing. :-p Is this and Officall Beta, Unofficall Beta, semi-officall but we'll let you see it anyway Beta...

Corruption was set by Soren to meet his design.

What exactly was meant by this? Is there a design document? Was corruption designed to be different than Civ3? I thought it was originally a bug...

Thanks for the beta patches.. I am using 1.12 and it is a great improvement to the release version.

Are there any plans to make a HOF for edited rules games? Even a top ten scores txt file(so we don't have to write the scores down)?

Thanks!

There apparently was a bug in the original civ3 version with corruption. Because of the complex calculations used it was not noticed. Also in the original Civ3 it semed to give reasonable corruption - this in fact helped hide the bug.

It was only when they started to counter some corruption exploits by players in C3C (for online - MP reasons) that they noticed the bug.

As far as the design document is concerned - yes it has always been there. The chief designer wants it to work the way it should have all along - and who can blame him.

Lets wait till the official patch comes out - unless any of you are keen to become a tester. In that case be prepared to take the rough with the smooth. :D

It's fun anyway. :)
