So it's February 14, and love and mushiness are in the air, right? No?

I confess to not being much of a Valentine's Day enthusiast, at least not since elementary school when we gave out all those little paper valentines to classmates and munched on cinnamon hearts.

Nowadays, for me it's an excuse to indulge in chocolate and make lolcat pictures about love:

So how has this day been for the rest of the denizens of CFC?

I played a nerdy card game and work till midnight. :)

This is my first Valentine's alone in 3 years. Honestly it's nice not having to stress out over it for a change.

I've had a splitting headache ever since I woke up...and my Valentine is a thousand miles away and ignoring my calls.

Oh and I nearly froze my hand off trying to clean my windshield earlier :9

Bought a singing stuffed animal, a heart-shaped balloon, and a marshmallow on a stick that was shaped like a rose for my daughter and bought three roses for my wife. We just got back from a surprise birthday party for my grandmother's 80th birthday too (although her birthday was really on the 12th).

I nevr stress ovre it. My philospohy is to be romaintic at random times during the year. Works much bettter. :)

Now I just need to find someone to spend the 364 other days on.

Busy day. Purple flowers, fed the homeless, kids played a concert for everyone, crazy indoor soccer game, fried chicken with cava for dinner, new guitar for the kid who is playing "doll parts" now. Time for more vino.

My wife and I had a romantic dinner planned, even arranged for a babysitter to take the baby away for a few hours....so naturally, i get the stomach flu. I've spent the better part of the last 36 hours puking. Yay fatherhood!

I mean (when I'm in a relationship) I do too. That doesn't change the fact that Valentine's is sort of an expected/customary thing. You can wax eloquent all you want about how the holiday is [bullcrap] and a scam cooked up by greeting cards companies, but your SO will still be fairly disappointed if you didn't put in the effort to at least do SOMETHING. She may say she isn't. But she is.

I got married.

Wow! Congratulations.

Never fall for the "oh you don't have to get me anything" scam. The cake is a lie!

Here's a piece of advice: If you're going to get your wife or girlfriend a scented candle or two... make sure she's not allergic to them. :ack:

Had a fun day with a lady friend. Nice change of pace.

All that is reliably known of the saint commemorated on February 14 is his name and that he was martyred and buried at a cemetery on the Via Flaminia close to the Milvian bridge to the north of Rome on that day.

This is, quite literally, superstition, isn't it?

Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with that, of course.
