I remember the lady who lived to be 122 in France not long ago attributing her old age to olive oil, wine, cigarettes, and chocolate...so who knows how much this stuff helps you out...

Yep, it is appropriate, and I certainly don't think it's bad for you not to eat meat. And I am amazed at how much meat some of our carnivores here eat!

I suspect that if you randomly selected one hundred individuals, and gave half of them a healthy diet, and the other half oil, wine, cigs, and chocolate, the first half would probably have a higher average life expentency.

Indeed. It seems that most people that hit triple digits led relatively unhealthy lifestyles.

Too much bovine growth hormone in our generation, methinks.

The triple-digit thing has a heavy genetic component.

Fun fact: aging occurs until the mid-nineties. After that, there is no aged-related deterioration (other things like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc. continue). There is a risk of death every year, but it does not go up, like when you're deteriorating from aging.

So, if you can make it to your nineties fairly healthy, the next limit seems to be in the one tens

I eat/drink dairy products, and eat eggs.
Also honey and stuff like that.
Basically anything that doesnt require the death of an animal.

Im not vegetarian, I think Vegetarians in general have a few screws loose by the very nature of most of their motives for becoming vegetarian. I would never give up meat because 1.) It tastes too good 2.) I don't need to be on a constant scavenger hunt in the grocery store for alternative protein sources 3). I see nothing morally wrong with consuming meat 4.) Id like to get a girlfriend sometime, get married, and I don't really see how eating salads and plants my whole life will increase my chances of obtaining a non-hippie non-feminist girlfriend.

What will the chicken or hen do with it's life? Its not like its allowed to roam free in a Kentucky Bluegrass paradise. Its either exploit the hens for all their eggs and keep them confined in close cages their whole life until they die, and their meat wasted. Or, exploit their eggs, and not waste their potential meat source they provide us with.

I am not a vegetarian. I was born a carnivore and will die a carnivore.

Surely, technically, you were born an omnivore? :mischief:

I have no problem with vegetarians, unless they start preaching to me about how good it is. I like my food, you like yours, why can't we all just...get along?

It is healthier for me to eat less meat than i do now, but i propably would never switch to a full vegetarian diet. My support for the vegetaran diet is entirely for health reason and allows eating fish and eggs.

I'd say anyone who eats something just because it tastes good has a few screws loose:p

And also why feel teh need to eb so hostile towards vegetarians? You've just posted aload of sterotypes there that have no real bearing in reality.

Only hostile towards the ones who claim we meat eaters are cruel to animals and all that PETA bs. I don't actively campaign against vegetarians or anything if that is what you mean, I really have little against the average vegetarian. As for the stereotypes, they are based upon American culture, so for you to say they have no real bearing in reality is a misguided assertion. Sometimes stereotypes are fairly accurate, however generalized they may be. Most would agree that vegetarians, on average, lean to the left politically speaking (in America).

You see, this post has reasoning and logic, whilst your previous one did not.
