Am I misreading things or do you have 12 vassals?
In the confusion about the install path, I accidentally installed over the stable version I had installed, and installed the 2.8 beta. Like many others, I'm getting CTDs now, when I had NO CTDs at all before. I have read that Aforess and a few others have discovered likely causes, I'm not sure if they apply to my situation or not. My CTDs start about 500BC and happen about every 25-75 turns after that. I've never made it past the classical era yet.
How long before 2.8 final is released? Anyone in the know?
I deleted the ROM folder, and re-installed 2.71. Runs like a top. 2.8 beta runs like a Yugo, at least for me at the moment.
I'd post a log, but I couldn't find it to post. I had logs turned on in the BUG module, and specified a path, but couldn't find it to save my life. I suspect that it is gone now that I deleted the folder and started over, so I guess I'm no help at all.
At least RoM is stable again, though. I don't like not playing and getting my fix.![]()
I'm glad to see you satisfied at last.
But you know its a Beta. And Betas usually are far from perfect. The aim of an open beta test is to eliminate the bugs remaning, and thats all. You can help with secreficing some time or you can decide not to "waste" it. Its up to you.
Have a good playing![]()
Is there anyone testing this version on Windows 7?
I'm using Win XP Pro 64bit on a Dual Core machine and I've only had 1 isolated CTD since 2.8beta was put out. But I would like to hear from any win7 users.

i dont think windows 7 comes out in america till october 22nd. thats when they are sending me my version. and alfones said the revdcm team messed something else up that disables bug logging so even if you try to post your save games it wont be any help.
Gee, you mean beta means it won't be perfect and that I'd have to actually help? No way!
I said I couldn't find the logs. Either they were not being generated despite my having turned logging on, or they weren't going to the right place. Since I searched both of my harddrives with the name of the logfile, I suspect that it wasn't generated for some reason.
I wouldn't have downloaded it had I not wanted to help out, again, if you take time to read, you'll figure out that because the installer went to the wrong path and because I failed to fix that correctly, I installed over my 2.71 install. What that means, clever one, is that since I screwed up the path, instead of getting the opportunity to play a stable release when I wanted or a beta release, I only had the beta.
What you mean by 'satisfied at last' is an indication to me that you probably don't understand the content of your own writing, and that English is probably a second language. If not, then you're probably something I cannot describe here.
I have no idea why anyone would think a remark like that would make anything better. You not understanding what I wrote is really the only reasonable option.
Zappara, this is a feature request for 2.9, but I don't have any better spot for this.
In my SDK travels, I discovered that Firaxis exposed a python callback that allows settling on water. This could add new functionality to future tech's that would allow water cities.
I think that it would be pretty cool, and you can do it in all python.
Please don't go there (name-calling and putting down other people). Just a friendly exhortation to prevent any troubles down the road.
