Virote's Unit Previews

Agamemnon looks agamazing! Diomedes could use a different shield, that way you can easily differentiate him from a regular spearman if you darken his shirt (I kinda like it white:).

The spearman looks great but I have one objection. And belive it or not, its not about the unit, its about the prop ;) You might notice a huge gap in the chest area of the Sea People Armor. You might wanna fix that with some c-n-p before releasing the unit, if you are not skilled in prop-editing.

Agamemnon = :cool:

I fear this will be invisible with the current colour/light setup you have. Though maybe it's just the preview pose that's affected?

MRTN is right about the nose guard. I missed it completely. I would suggest that it stick out a little and go up the helmet slightly on the outside.
Since Diomedes and the spearman share the same sheild, nearly the same helmet... Perhaps add some decoration in the middle of his shield. And maybe a slight variation in his helmet... taller plume?
Plus I still would prefer a leather colored tunic for him.

I've changed the colour of the tunic earlier today. Would darkening Diomedes' helmet work in making his noseguard stick out more?

EDIT: @ Stormrage: I don't see what you're on about with the armor prop. Anyway, looking through the limited collection of pictures I have at home, I was thinking of maybe removing the Spearman's armor. From the pictures I have, the warriors wither went out completely baare chested, with a small tunic or quite heavily armoured.

Looks good. I like the richer color to his helmet. Can you carry some of that into the trim on his shield? or maybe his spear? Just some color on it to make it look fancy? Same with the greaves. Not sure if the high color bronze you made would be typical of the shinguards, but it might look really nice.

I can put it on the Spear and Shinguards, sure. Where should I put it on the spear? The just tip (as it IS a Bronze Spear...) or the whole spear?

Well up to you, this being your artistic vision and me just being part of the noisy rabble throwing out suggestions.
I was thinking this:
The center portion of the shinguards, not all the way to the edge. But, it would work just as well all the way to the edge.
The spear I was thinking a bit of a primitive parented to the spear... sorta like a a decoration below the harder iron tip... and if you liked it, the same sort of decorative little bit of bronze near the butt of the weapon.
But, these are not important details... just random ideas.

I know it's my artistic decisions, but I think that ATM Diomedes looks a bit.. in the dark. The dark-brown of his clothes and black on his spear would, IMO probably make him look bad in-game.

Hmm... maybe you could make Diomedes' and Agamemnon's skirts brown?
Thanks for the input, but I'm already happy with Agamemnon (horray!), and I think that Diomedes doesn't need to be any darker.

I like them all, especially Agamemnon who now looks like a real mycenean warrior-king!
Another idea, if you have more guys in your scenario who should look like noblemen/kings/commanders, perhaps you could let some ride on chariots, which probably was quite usual in that times and would make more a difference than just another footman.

It was quite usual for kings and commanders to ride into battle on chariots at the time of the Trojan War, but I believe that it was also normal for them to get off when they actually started fighting.

BTW, looking good. :)

Well, I was hoping to get the Spearman finnished by today, but evidently, I've ground to a halt. The problem is, that upon rendering, I've found that the kilt has seemed to tangle itself up in the north direction. Sort of how wires do when you turn your back after spending hours un-tangling them, and placing them nice and strait :D

Anyway, here's the problem:

The animations this seems to affect are:

Fortify (only a couple of frames, though)
