I don't recommend playing with less than 1GB RAM, but to each his own :D
 
I've noticed that the patch version 1 (presumably, to take the game to ViSa ver. 3.1) has a link available on the ViSa site, but I keep getting a screen telling me that a password is needed. Is it still being beta-tested, or did the password protection just not get removed before the link was placed?

Its almost ready, we are having problems with the installer. Basically old farts like me couldnt figure out how to install it if the preferred procedure didnt work.
 
The patch ZIP file needs to be unzipped along with following these directions:

1. Download the ViSa v3.10 patch (recommended to save on your Desktop)

2. Find the file on your hard drive that you used to install the original ViSa Expansion Pack 3 (should be “VISA_CIV4mod_setup.exe” or “Setup.exe” or "Setup256.exe", file name depends on which host/link/version you used for the original v3.00 download) and extract (not execute!) the file (Recommended 'path' is your Desktop).
If you know how to do that, you can skip steps #3 to #5 and move to step #6, if not, proceed with the next step

3. Install either WinRAR or 7zip if you don't have any of them installed on your computer

4. (Skip this step if you have installed 7Zip and move to the next step), if you installed WinRAR proceed as follow:
Right click the “VISA_CIV4mod_setup.exe” or “Setup.exe” or "Setup256.exe" and select "extract here" (as shown on the picture)
Or "Extract files..." if you want an alternative directory
In dialog box that opens, select a ‘Destination Path’ and click Ok (Recommended 'path' is your Desktop)

5. (Skip this step if you have installed WinRAR), if you installed 7Zip proceed as follow:
Right click the “VISA_CIV4mod_setup.exe” or “Setup.exe” or "Setup256.exe" and select "Extract Here" (as shown on the picture)
Or "Extract files..." if you want an alternative directory
In dialog box that opens, select a ‘Destination Path’ and click Ok(Recommended 'path' is your Desktop)

6. Once the files have been extracted, you can double-click the file downloaded in step 1, "ViSa_v3_update.msp" to apply the ViSa Expansion Pack 3 patch 1

7. If you get a message as shown on the right, click the "Browse" button and select your ‘Destination Path’ from Step #4 or #5 (Recommended 'path' is your Desktop)

Note:
This help applies to both the "setup256.exe" (256MB RAM installation) and the "setup.exe / VISA_CIV4mod_setup.exe” (512MB RAM installation)

I did finally do that reading though, and in case anyone else is having the same problem, here's how I fixed it: I downloaded the newer version of the 3.0 installer and then followed the install instructions from that point, using the newer version of ViSa 3.0.

Haven't gotten far enough in the new game to try any of my items of special concern yet (migrants in particular), but that will come.

WE did work on the migrant and hopefully its working ok, you can set the amount of population it moves thru the ini.

*Chuckle* I'm more concerned with it working at all - there's something very annoying about a unit which will take up the building resources, move where you want it to, and then not do anything at all...

I'm particularly interested in its potential when combined with sea cities and gold-rushing buildings... Powerhouse cities at sea, in relatively short time.
 
How does the release version compare to the current SVN 172?
Is it the same thing, or do I need to download / install the released 3.1?

Why do you recomend extracting to desktop? The desktop is not a temp directory for junk files.

I installed the full 3.1 ver,.. everything works great. One thing I noticed, the CPU runs it's military alot more intellengently. Took me over half a game to figure out how to deal with that lol :)

Because for most casual computer users that is what they know....it is RECOMMENDED but not required...geesh....

You can't seriously be complaining how we organize our file names?!?!?!?!?!?!

No, the installer/patcher does all that so 99% of all ViSa 3 installs are correct with no user option for accidentally putting it in a wrong directory.
 
Sorry I haven't been here folks, but I am on vacation out of town.

I did update the link on CivFanatics to make the full installer v3.10 instead of v3.00 for those that can't get the patch installed properly. NOTE - you have to uninstall v3.00 to install the full version of v3.10
