ViSa Suggestions/Requests

a question and idea:

There is this Woddsman II promotion - so you can move 2 in forest...

BUT why can can you move also on HILL???
It could be that you can move two only in plain-forest,
that is, to move on to a hill would still mean 2 moves...

I thought Woodsman I and II were from Firaxis.....I don't like changing any of their stuff that is not broken. And what does being on a hill have to do with a Woodsman?

Woodsman II allows to move 2 on forest or hills/forest, not on hills without forest.

my problem is with the hills/forest

I always assumed that the game calculated the bonus for the moving unit against the movement cost of a forest covered square, but in the case of hills/forest, left the movement penalties for the hill terrain intact..... having no specific experience of this that I took enough note of to recall though, I could very well be wrong.... :crazyeye:

Prove me if I am wrong, but with Woodsman II you can have 2 moves in one turn so that first you move up a hills/forest and then another forest tile (or maybe any tile)

That is correct, a 2nd move to any tile is possible. I think it's always been that way (Vanilla, Warlords and ViSa).
So basically it doesn't make a difference if it's plain/forest or hills/forest.

The Woodsman 2 promotion enables double moves for Forest and Jungle only (in addition to defensive bonus) - movement bonus code for "hill" equals "false" however if the hill happens to be a forested hill - the double move applies because the forest is "seen" :) and overrides other restrictions.

Yep, exactly how it should work and will continue to work...it is WOODsman....not HILLsman

please take a look at this mod.

dont know if it is something you like to add but perhaps it is.
(i havent played it yet but it seems very intresting)

I doubt any of us want to merge in a mod doing the same thing we are....

Isn't this Woodsman thing clear?

Say your first move is to move to a hills/forest. Why on earth would you be able to make a second move if Woodsman does not give you the ability to move on hills with any less MP for hills as before?

Please listen, talk to Firaxis....

ViSa is not changing this because it makes perfect sense the way it is....Woodsman promotions gives movement bonus to WOODS ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know how many times this must be repeated.....

As TAfirehawk said - the Woodsman Promotion OVERRIDES other terrain penalties -- if the hill has a forest on it - the forest allowes the Woodsman promotion to give you an extra move -- the same applies for jungles.

If a Jungle or a Forest exist - regardles of other terrain conditions - the Woodsman Promotion sees the Forest or Jungle and you get the bonus move -- simple as that.

We don't know how to make this any clearer - sorry :)

I understand you.
You want to say that for double movement in hill/forest you should have both WoodsmanII and GuerillaII.

I also agree. But the problem is that there is no easy way to fix it without confusing :crazyeye:

Here's something more useless, sometimes the City Guard would give the Woodsman promotion to my airplanes....

Hi,

Great mod. I'm looking forward to the update.

I have some concerns regarding the battleship.

Why was it moved from Combustion to Nato?

This means aircraft carriers can be build much sooner than them.

Also the requirement to have either a lighthouse or a barracks in the city to be built seems out of place.

I would also suggest requiring a drydock and a factory to build the aircraft carrier unit.
