ViSa Suggestions/Requests

Well, actually now that you mention it, South Korea is a pretty terrible example

South Vietnam is probably a better one... I was basically just trying to refer to countries that didn't exist for terribly long - Goes to the question of how you include a Civ... do you include it as a cultural or ethnic group, or as a nation which has formed borders and called itself a particular name?

Arabia is a great example. Do you include Arabia as a Civ under Saladin? Or do you instead include Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait et al? I guess the question would be, how does one best represent a faction which can be played within the game? Again, to use my own country as an example, in certain mods/scenarios it makes sense to have Australia, in some have the Australian land mass under the control of the English Civ, and in some cases, it makes sense for them to not be there at all. :)

I guess that was the point I was trying to make. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for flavour and things that are different... Conan of Hyboria anyone? :crazyeye: :)

Again, I think in those kinds of cases where it really is just about flavour it comes down to the dev team's preference. At the risk of being banned, I'd say harangue Firehawke til he caves :p :D

If you feel so inclined, PM me about the Texas stuff. I really do enjoy History, and I'm always keen to fill in gaps in my knowledge. Shiner Bock FTW!!!

In my opinion it depend of Who you are, where you From and how you see the World... I can understand this guy want Republic of Texas in the game cause he is from Texas but ... even if i'm from Quebec, i don't think Quebec deserve a place in the game (Even if we are the second oldest city in North America/first is St-John. (Quebec will have 400 years in 2008). I still use Canada cause it's actually a Country and not Quebec.

My last word is ... you can always open the XML files and create your own nation... this option is always better than adding a States wich have no importance for someone from France for example.

Nice mods BTW, i really enjoy it !

Texas....never....

And just because some other modder makes something for Civ 4 Warlords does not mean it fits within the structure of ViSa.

I appreciate the suggestion and discussion, but for the near future we will not be adding every little 'state' to Civ....we have plenty of leaders and civs to play.

You know if it would be possible to return seeing the city from Civ3 i would love to see my city full of wonders. Also i sent this to TheLopez but he seems to busy but maybe some of you guys might be interested... i wish i could on my own do this but i don't know a thing sadly on developing muchless modding

1. Have it like AOE where you actually see merchants and such send items by trade i.e through units

2. Have Civilization change Leader heads through ages

3. Natural prejudice or dislike between civs or or people

4. Change Governor so its somewhat more like Civ3 where you can have them build certain type of military units

5. Expand Goverment; have the advisors change accordingly. If your heridtary then parliment as your advisors they will advise for you to go to war, each one will give why (each meaning mitlitary, foreign affairs and resource managment advisor). If Democracy then have it that a lot of major presidents are in with a few modern political leaders (each president represnts new congress which can veto and all that which of course should be configurable)

6. Surges in money during State religion's holiday time or if no state religion whichever is most dominate you get more money out of

7. Add months to game

8. Allow animals to keep spawning and replace for and ivory with actual animals which if killed maybe a sorta you know colony or something starts which makes commerence and production and sends it to its nearest city and it makes its own workers which act as hunters or proachers to keep getting the item... and since i believe global warming is in the game why not add extinction? Also for fur have different types cat, dog and the rest and new tech is demestication (excuse my spelling) where you can make zoos and preserves and pets which increase happiness.

9. Protest: an unhappy city can eventually lead to unhappy civ protesters like immigrants can travel trying to gain support and if you kill them off well then you are look bad upon

10. To add on to 9 other Civs can send missionaries or representives to ask for war aide to overthrow their government and elect a new leader and you can have it where you can be, deny them, they become a captulation, vassal or you just aide them and boost relations if they win or else furious if you stop warring against of for the rebels or original owners.

11. If your people are calling for revolution basically a military general is born in the most unhappy city and with his death the revolt ends and you reclaim your land and they start their own civ

12. Civ specific Great Wonder; 1 great wonder exclusive per civ which can be set to random or history specific

13. Regimes and hate crimes...; Now this is maybe to controversial but i think maybe it should be added with all the different civs maybe regimes of cults should be made and added to the right hand side but not considered specialist... but this is purely idea i don't know how well it would go over in actually production thats why i'm letting you see

Dear Helpless,
I'm a beta tester, currently building migrant workers in a test game of
Version 3, so I'm pretty confident in saying...

IT'S IN VERSION 3!! :goodjob: :king: :D

Alondin, Master of the Obvious

thanks for telling me... i really liked that mod.. though i kinda used it to cheat

I'm sure this has been asked before (perhaps many times); if so, please forgive me.
I'd like to know if V.3 will have any truly customizable Earth maps.

What I mean is I'd like to be able to choose an Earth map, be able to choose the size (although I do play Huge maps all the time anyway), choose how many Civs, which ones, and most importantly, have them spawn in the correct locations.

Another thing I'd like to see is a way to be able to still have the space race, U.N., etc., but not let these things end the game.
I find I'm always playing conquest only and removing the limit on game turns, just so I can have the game last as long as I like.

All in all, I want to be able to have a never ending game (practicaly no end anyway), all options still available, and all Civs available - in the correct locations, on earth maps.

If this is included in v.3 that's awesome. If not, could someone please tell me an easier way to make this happen; I'd greatly appreciate it?
Thank you very much - sorry for the long wordiness...

ps. I love Visa mod! - Best Civ mod ever, awesome work, thx so much for all your efforts! :)

You can always look in the "Custom Maps/Scenario" section of the Forum, download the Earth2.py, install it in PublicMaps (warlord), Start a new Custom Game (Choose the most important civilization for you) and choose Earth2 as Map choose the Size/Type/etc... When you are ready, Start your game... Before the game start, open the WorldBuilder (you need the enable "Cheat = chipotle" in the _Civ4Config.ini), Delete ALL Civilization then place all civilization where it needs ... Save & Play !

The script "Earth2" is not perfect but your maps, whatever size (even Dual), will "look pretty much like" Earth... The only problem is to place the civilization yourself but if you save it and like it, you can have your own Earth Custom Maps with your favorit civilization and mods anytime you want.

I love the mod. I am not trying to complain but Scotland is spelt with 1 T not 2. It doesn't bother me because i just fix it but some people moight think that it is spelled like that. Again i am not maoning as it is my favourite mod.

P.S. Could there be an option for Britain.

Preytor, I'll adapt an earth map to ViSa 3. Downside: it will be rather huge (200x80), and thus run into some problems on slower computers even given that ViSA 3 got rid of the MAF problem.

It should even be possible to design a minimum earth map for 36 civs. Given that you don't want stronger distortions then found in the Genghis Kai map, this one would need to be 100x40. Why? Cause with this size the "larger" european nations (England, France, Spain, Germany, Scandinavia, Rome, Greece) would be represented by 1 city.

OK, I don't know if this has been suggested before but I really would like to have a bigger map options. the biggest you can do is using Earth-like and then about half of it is ignored, I want to play on a world the size of Jupiter (well maybe not that big, but you get the idea) Is their any way that world size can be increased, or an option where the Earth-like map doesn't just ignore that other half of the world?

Wow that would be awesome!! :D
I've noticed some lag sometimes on that 100X56 map I use once everything is on the modern era and everyone has military everywhere; but it is certainly still playable. 200x80 might kill my machine though; although, I have not overclocked that rig yet and I am going to do so.

I do like the idea of having a 100X56 odd sized map.
36 Civ is a bit much however (like you said - 1 city per EU civ).
I like the idea of being able to choose any civ out of all the 36, and having them spawn in the correct location. I think 18 to 24 max Civs would be perfect for me.
If you could pull that off I'd appreciate it greatly. :D

Usually I pick the same dozen or so civs at first anyway and add a few different ones for variety.
America, Germany, Russia, England, Japan, China, India, Spain, Greece, Rome, France, Aztec, Korea, Egypt, Carthage, and Zulu are the ones I like to use most.
I also like to add another to the Middle East, Northern Europe, and two to South America.
It'd be nice to have some Asian island ones too, like Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and maybe Malaysia.

Thanks
P

The MAF is not gone, just GREATLY reduced. Nev has just given us a workaround that covers most of the problems in the EXE.

We still will not address MAF issues on Large or Huge map settings because it is a Firaxis problem.

Anybody is welcome to customize maps and I will gladly link them in the Map Thread, but the Team will recommend not playing anything larger than Standard size with default number of Civs.

You have been warned ;)

Well I hope one day I can play huge maps with lots of Civs with Visa; but in the mean time I'll live with standard size/civ, as long as I have my Visa. :)

Can I pick what civs I want for my stanrdard sized earth map and still have the civs spawn in the correct locations?
More options are always great, but the most important thing is that the civs spawn in the correct locations.
That and having Visa.

thx
P

Alondin.... Plays huge maps with huge times, no MAF after the patch.
So, I would suggest you try it despite Firehawk's caution.
The worst that can happen is it blows up and you can't finish a game.

Alondin the Optimist

Nomad barbarians, I wonder would this be possible.

Nomad barbarians don't have a city, instead, they have a King (whatever they call it). King has strong personal guard, always with him and a horde of horsemen, spawning, say, every 5 turns another horsemen. Their goal is to loot, not capture cities.

Player would have to kill the King in order to anihillate them.

They would need quite a big unsettled area to appear, maybe around some horses resource (but this should not be necessary).

This idea could be further developed, say, raging Vikings in ships, with King and without a city, just looting and moving on.

Same with Bedouins, Tuaregs, etc. in desert environmeng.

Or even gangs, like in Wild West times, anything of the sort.

Anarchists like Machno from Revolution times in Russia...

Terrorist groups...

The idea is to revive barbarian experience from CIV 1 and CIV 2. Barbarians as they are now are not very organized and too weak. They usually attack with lone, weak units and pose no threat. They just uild cities for you.

But I would like to see Jeronimo, who has nothing to lose and a lot to offer ;)

Raging barbarian setting is too mechanical, there is no strategy behind it. I've tried it before, but after a couple of games I was looking for some more sophisticated struggle. Montezuma is the closest to what I mean, IF he starts in a good position.
