Warfare Expanded (for MOAR) 7.3

Just a Cog for the naval units in the next update for the moment. Not sure there is room for much else other than some cultural variation.

When can i expect this on CIVFANATICS for downloading? (I receive failure errors from the Steam Workshop)
 
I got a new idea about a whole 2 new unit classes:
First class is meele, very cheap, with small strengh but with high bonus when fighting in own territory making it a bit better than normal meele when defending aganist suprise attacks from civilizations with much bigger military.

First unit is «Royal guard» (or kings guard ?) with 35 strengh 100 cost, 2 movement and bonus +12str. Avaible in early medieval era.

Roman unique replacement would be the «Pretorian guard» Avaible much earlier (in classical era) with strengh same as normal legion making it superior unit of its era. Thats why it also has bigger cost (compared to the legion). 40 strengh and 150 cost.

Next unit is avaible in late rennesaince. A militia. With 45 str, 150 cost, and 2 movement and bonus.

An unique french replacement «kings musketeers» that replaces militia. 50 str and general points per victory.

Then we have a «conscript». A modern era defensive unit with 60 str, 250 cost and 2 movement and of course bonus.

And finnaly, an «active reserves». 80 str, 350 cost, 2 movement and bonus.

I thought about to move garde imperiale as defensive unit, but rather no.

Next to units, a new military goverment perk (or card ir whatever its named) that increase the bonus from +12 to +17 or even +20.

All theese units vere avaible from civic tree, not tech tree.



The second new unit type is inspired by the jong. Very cheap and weak naval meele but gives defense and movement bonus to ground or support units in formation or adjacent.
Cog->Brig (or barque)->Modern corvette->LHD

Unique spain replacement: powerful «treasure galleon» replacing medieval cog.

Very important for naval assaults.


And, we need someone to fix the aircraft carrier bugs (fighters cant be deployed and all aircrafts has same strengh like they are ground embarked.=> easy to shot down)

I had not planned on a civfinatics version and so far yuo have been the only one to request it. Did you end up getting the Steam download to work?

@Penkover these are some good ideas but I am no longer working on adding new units. At the moment I am working on adding some cultural variation.

@chrisgatt7 yes should do on Steam but from what I have seen of Gathering Storms I am not sure if i will even get it. Defiantly does not look like it is going to be worth paying $40 for.

I think it looks great so far the whole weather mechanic is amazing ... plus they are adding future units ... please get it ... the mod community needs yal... The warfare expanded mod is arguably the best mod on steam and on the forum !!! Please don’t forget about your fans and community !!!
 
@Wolfdog Well worst comes to worse we will put up a go fund me and buy you the dam GS DLC ... we need you to keep this mod updated and pushing forward... we need more updates units, skins you name it ... we need you and everyone else who works on this project ... it makes CIV almost a completely different game

Haha its all good. I have looked into a bit more and there is some features that makes it worth it. I just hope the global warming mechanic can be disabled. It really irritated me in previous versions of Civ.
 
A mod like this is definitely worth continuing. It would be cool if you did an optional thing(some people don't like the sci-fi stuff) and brought in some futuristic units to continue some of the unit lines, especially since theres those beyond earth graphics to use, your call though.

I think the new expansion may fill in some of the gaps your mod already does, so a new addition might be necessary anyway.

From what I have seen the new expansions adds a future era so that should satisfy all you sci-fi junkies. There are quite a lot of new units that are supposedly coming so I assume that most of these will be for the future era.
 
@Wolfdog so let me just say I love your work here and can’t wait to see where this mod goes after GS... I have a question... the ground attack aircraft you have in your mod can perform interceptions of enemy aircraft ... this does not align with history or authenticity. For example you have the Stuka and the A-10... both aircraft amazing at ground attack roles, and yet they can intercept air superiority fighters and other aircraft... I think you should rebrand it multi role fighter as they all ultimately upgrade to the F-35 type aircraft. There is a distinct difference between a multi role fighter(F18,SU30,F35)and a ground attack aircraft (A10, SU25, II-2) I think there should be a multirole aircraft and a base line only ground attack aircraft which cannot intercept other aircraft...

I think i can turn of interception ability easy so yeah that is a good idea. But I do remember hearing that Stukas actually were not bad fighters against obsolete aircraft.
If I make a multi role fighter line what would I use as the stealth ground attack in place of the F-35?
What would be a WW2 multi role fighter? Mosquito? Lightning? Ju-88?

So you could have two (or three) propellers aircraft classes ("fighter-bombers" , "heavy fighters", and maybe "fast bombers") that merge in the multirole fighters class with the jet engine.

That what I'd do if I had the models :D

Yes, that could be quite do-able but I think I would need to make it into a separate mod like I did with WE Armored Warfare, because as hard as may be to believe some people may actually think it is too many aircraft.

I guess for stealth attack I could bring back the F-117 Nighthawk even though it does not fit with the era.
