Warhammer unit request: Chaos Dwarfs & Hobgoblins

I think they are both fine as they are now. :)

They look great aaglo
Perhaps, if you want to, you could have a go at making a demilich from D&D.
I don't think it would be hard to animate, since all it is a magial floating skull, with magic attacks like a regular lich. :)

I don't know about the hovering skull (meaning: I know nothing about it - conclusion: more detail required before any decision can be made).

Okay, here's a preview of the sylvanian grave guard + a slightly textured version of the liche preast's headress. The texturing isn't exactly what in the tutankhamon's headress, but it gives a bit variation for the NE, N and NW-views. :)

The grave guards are heavily armored undead warriors who once challenged a strong vampire (and lost).

Yeah, sword is too big. Also, the shield position seems somehow strange, but I can't put my finger on what's wrong with it. Quite possibly nothing and it's all just in my head. The unit itself looks very good, not very undead, but with all that armor, that's hardly a surprise. :)

Shouldn't the grave guard have a spear? In civ spear units are always=deffencive, and swords=offencive. Maybe remove a bit of the armour so we can see a bit more of the skeleton.

Otherwise quite good.

The current GG model has a sword like aaglo made for this one, although the previous one had a halberd. It's hard to consider them in game terms though... I guess it makes sense for tomb and grave guard to be high defence units (as GG already is), but then what's the point of the skeleton spearmen units? I think when I add them into my game I'll probably have the tomb guard, and the grave guard renamed to wight infantry and make them 8/6/1 advanced infantry, leaving space for the spearmen. Or if aaglo or anyone ever makes a Black Coach unit, I'll get rid of the current GG unit and have the mausoleum make one of them every so often instead. Incidentally, whenever I spy on my vampiric enemies after hundreds of turns after they've built the mausoleum, they never seem to have more than one or two grave guard units, even if they've never been at war. Anyone know why this is?

I do kinda pity ED having to perhaps rework the tech tree and think up ways of cost for all these changes though (My changes will be based on "what is easiest for me to do"), since the only current buildable skeleton unit costs 1 shield and 1 population- so how much should skeleton archers, tomb guards etc. cost?

Liche Priest looks perfect :D Can't wait to see it animated.

Grave Guard's looking pretty good too. My only comments are:
- The sheild seems to be sitting low, like his forearm is attached at the top. Perhaps it should be attached at the middle. Either way, it's a minor issue.
- The sword does seem a bit large, but I'm not certain that's a bad thing. I think a serrated edge on one side of the sword might look cool with the unit, if you're interested in changing the blade a bit.
- As always, I think undead soldiers should have somewhat deteriorated armor. After all, these heavily armored undead soldiers did get slain by the vampire, so their armor had to have failed them in the end. Maybe so rust or holes in the armor, like what you added to the armor of the ghost-knight thing you toyed with awhile ago, would look good.
- the civ-colored area around the neck would look good as chain-mail. It'd make sense to have your neck covered if heading to battle vampires, after all. Perhaps, if you removed the civ-coloring from the neck, you could replace it with a thin band of civ-color in the circlet of his helm? I dunno, just a thought.

Hmmmm. You know aaglo, you should probably make a 'Warhammer Land Units Previews" Thread.

Whats wrong with this one? Not that I'm against it or anything.

Its kinda Misleading. You would think All 12 pages or whater (I'm set to display 48 posts per page) would be just Chaos Dwarf and Hobgobbo requests, not Undead previews

That might be true in ther beginning, nut I guess that most people who are interested in fantasy units have already discovered that he posts his previews here.

The grave guard is based on these units:

So:
- the sword is quite large as you can see
- the thing around his neck isn't chainmail
- the armors aren't deteriorated at all (a vampire should know how to keep things in order - or should he? ;) )
- maybe I should remove the civ-coloured wristbands, so a bit more of that 'skeleton' comes visible

Well, in that case, nicely done. :)

My only concern, and it is a minor one, is that the present helm-and-scarf-thing leaves the unit looking very unskeleton-like. Perhaps one of those pointed helmets, like the one depicted on the soldier in the back left corner of the formation, would leave more of the skeleton's skull apparent. However, it's not like it'll make a significant difference, and it's just more work for you to change it, so if you don't think the present model looks like a skeleton enough, forget I mentioned it.
