Wasp Removal

I wait for the nest to be asleep then spray it with bug spray before running back into the home.
Wapse do prey on cockaroaches but the problem is the nest size gets large and they become a danger to small children and the elderly.

I assume Berzerker lives in a Rual or low population area ?

My dad was a beekeeper and brought me along on wasp-removal calls.

Usual approach if the nest is somewhere we could reach was to suit up, and then use a shopvac with some water to suck up all the wasps you can find. Poke nest a bit to agitate them, and then suck them all up as they come out. Poke nest some more to break it up, pausing to suck up any wasps you see, until you've sucked up entire nest. Go dump out shopvac in an empty field/compost bin.

A shopvac is also great against mosquitoes in your rooms. No dirty spots on your walls.

When I went to my favorite restaurant, I was told a former waitress I like was on the beach having lunch with her family. When I went down to talk to her, I noticed a wasp digging a nest in the sand. And then another. And another. And another. And another.

I told of all the wasps and exclaimed, "We must tell Jon [the owner]!"

"Oh no," she replied. "They've been here every year since the place was built. They never sting anybody. Even if you step on them, they will not sting."

Wow. Quaker wasps. :dubious:

Far from it. There is a broad spectrum of wasps that do not sting humans. This is not to say that they don't sting, just not the usual way. It's involved in kinky sex, sort of.

Is this only for black wasps or will it work on other bees like yellow jackets?
Yellow jackets live in nests they build underground. They look look like the big grey paper-like ones when you dig them out. But I don't suggest you do that until you have killed them first.

OK. A female wasp will use the sting to paralyze any of a long list of host insects. While they are unable to resist, she implants fertilized eggs, making them pregnant in a sense. The eggs hatch and the larvae feed on the host insect, killing it. So we have non-consent, impregnation, female domination, and snuff. Lots of kink in the insect world.

Sounds like the insect world desperately needs to get them some burqas... their womenfolk are totally out of control...

Or... maybe not. As the very famous song goes...
:culture: Ohhhh I'm gonna spread the news...
If it feels this good gettin' used
Ohhh you just keep on usin' me...
Till' ya use me up:culture:

"Silence means consent" afterall... or so I've heard... and I don't hear no insects complainin':p

Parasitoid insects are the worse.
Also worm-like parasites.

Some wasps surgically bite off the part of another insect's head which allows the latter to move on its own, and then use it as a zombie, ending up - as usual- being eaten by larvae. Others turn other insects into zombie-bodyguards for their eggs...

Were I live I see nests inside 100ft. Maybe even 50ft.

Maybe other species are different but I doubt such a method works with the local ones given they nest near each other anyway.

From the title, I thought this was a SCOTUS nomination thread.
FTR there are no WASPs on the SCOTUS, and Kavanaugh being confirmed will not change that.
Like i said, sometimes you just can't avoid using sulfuric acid on what annoys you.
On bees?? How? Why? Do you spray it?

In my youth I declared war on a wasp nest that was under the eaves of the house. Armed with a hose I got in the swimming pool, adjusted for narrow beam stream, and blasted that sucker.

Wasps, apparently, understand the basic concept of backtrailing. They followed the stream and came swarming towards the pool. I adjusted to a broad spray pattern, crouched until my face was barely above water, and defended myself. Many wasps went swimming.

Unfortunately, I shared the story of this somewhat sadistic adventure with kids at school. One of them felt compelled to try it. Very unfortunately, when the wasps came swarming at him he panicked and ducked all the way under the water. Since he couldn't see what he was doing, the spray defense failed him and the angry wasps were swarming aimlessly over the pool when he ran out of breath. He burst up with a huge gasp and inhaled a wasp, which stung him on the inside of his mouth, under his tongue. His face swelled up like a balloon and his parents had to take him to the ER.

I thought that was even more hilarious than blasting the wasps had been, but that's probably just me.

Hitting them with sulfuric acid would definitely work better than an explosive. Insects are small and have no air-filled cavities, so explosives are a bad choice when dealing with them - as the surviving kids could attest. Sulfuric acid destroys cellulose-based matter and leaves plastic intact, which would seem to be perfect if you want to kill them gruesomely while leaving your can alone.

I certainly don't have the means to heat metal sufficiently to pour it like that guy did to an anthill. Though poison spray seems a competent option, if unexciting.

My daddy was a chemist
My daddy is no more
What daddy thought was H2O
Was H2SO4

Truthfully, Daddy was a lousy chemist. H2SO4 is thick and viscous. Only someone trying for a Darwin award would try to spray it.

Well maybe daddy drank the 30% solution, which isn't particularly thick or viscous and would be more than sufficient to kill him dead as a fish on pavement...and can be sprayed with impunity.
