[We the People] Bug reporting

... newest happiness active branch which was released 6 hours ago
Branch "Happiness" was not yet officially published. :c5unhappy:

It is still an internal development branch - for modders working on the mod.
(It contains only sources, Python files, XML and graphics. But no DLL.)

Every time I give it to supporters to help testing and bugfixing I build a new DLL for them.
(Unless they are able to compile themselves.)

... you need a DLL containing the latest changes.
... available only to those who are engaged in testing.
Correct.
As I said, it is not possible to simply download it and play it.

Once we officially publish it - players can simply download and play.
(Since it will then also contain the DLL(s) needed for playing.)

Just a little patience please.

Not sure if it's been fixed, but on a previous version I was still being taxed in Europe full rate even when I used the smuggler's ship.
@shahballs

Only the message (in the log) is wrong, the gold amount you get is correct. :)
You can simply check it by calculating yourself.

This can not be fixed that easily - but again "Smuggling" itself works - it is only a message issue.
(You are not taxed full rate - the bribe rate is applied for the actual gold you get.)

so i was on townscreen and changed occupation of 3 workers: lumberjack was on wrong resource so i switched his place with another regular colonist on wood resource then that lumberjack dissapeared from the city. then tried to make town defence unit from indentured servant and it also vanished but on map city population nnumber remained same. so i ended the turn and next turn they repaired. weird...

Was the colony in unrest? IIRC if you have a colony in unrest then you can't move anyone into or out of it, although the menus still work so it looks like you can.

it could have been...but why units i switched profession totally dissapear then???

That is the normal behaviour of unrest - you can not control your units anymore in such a city.
(If you could it would allow an exploit. Once the unrest ends - everything goes back to normal.)

When I tried loading the mod, the game threw a bunch of XML errors at me before crashing. After a bit of trial and error, it turns out that the mod doesn't seem to start when the region format in Windows is set to Japanese for some reason.

I can get around it by setting the region format to English or something before starting the mod, but is there a way avoid that? My Windows version itself is in English, I just have the region format set to Japanese because some Japanese software needs it to show Japanese text correctly.

I included images of a few of the errors below, there are a ton more but most of them look like the fourth one.

The mod itself seems to load well for all other people that have downloaded it so far. :)

If the mod starts if region format is set to English - then that is pretty much the solution.
(The screenshots do not really help us to analzye - they are just normal XML load errors - that can be related to everything.)

Otherwise I have no advice or suggestion for you. :dunno:

It's really not a big problem to change since it doesn't even require a reboot, I was just curious if it's supposed to be incompatible with Japanese computers/region settings or if that's just Windows being Windows.

Of course it is not "supposed" to - we had or have no intention to make it incompatible with any language or region setting.

The mod is internally trying to convert texts to UTF8 encoding - which is pretty much the world wide standard encoding.
But I have no idea if that causes issues with Japanese region settings. Maybe it is also simply Windows.

I just do not know. :dunno:
I thus do not know how to offer you any other solution.

The windows locale system is a mess and Microsoft recommends not using it at all. However anything released back when it was mandatory still uses it, meaning we are stuck with it. I made the mod tell Windows that the game runs in English locale. It works on some computers, but not all because it's windows being windows.

It's the same problem when people in the west tries to play Japanese games. Even when translated to English, most of them only work with Japanese locale.

I believe I found a bug in the 2.8 version.

Some farms and lodges which I build say they will become Large Farm or Lumberjack Lodge in X amount of turns but others don't. Built it on the exact same type of tile and resource yet for some reason one has the countdown and the other doesn't.

EDIT

Same thing with the Pastures. 2 Horse resources both on a grass tile have the Pasture improvement. One has the countdown to become a Large Pasture, the other one doesn't

As far as I know, you have to work on the improved tile in the city screen to run the counter. If the worker is removed, the counter pauses. Maybe that's your case?
Yes that actually worked. Thank you. It wasn't a bug, I'm just a noob :D

After installing the mod and launching the game im getting python exception errors but it didnt happen after i played the mod first time

That is normal, when the mod is started the first time, because you most likely had not cleaned your cash.
Nightinggale had purposely activated the Python-Exceptions as default so it would be easier for us to analye bugs.

It is nothing to worry about. :)

I fixed it internally.
I will also attach the corrected text file.

Is it a bug that the 'goody huts' don't give a text description for gaining a unit any more?

It used to say something like "you found a lost colonist" or "you found a survivor in a shipwreck" but now in 2.8 it just says "free colonist" or "indentured servant" . It seems to be same for every unit.

Also, some of the English text for the new quests could do with improvement. For example "If you succeed to be" should be changed to "If you succeed in being". Although this is not a bug, it is noticeable and would only involve a small change.
