Welcome New Members

It took me a awhile but i finally budgetted in the $50 to throw down for Civ IV this last week and I am really happy with the game. I have played quite a number of Sid's games over the years but CivNet was one of the first games I ever bought after getting my first Windows 95 machine although I cannot say i played the network aspects of it much due to the glitchy wait times.

Oddly enough while the game disc was lost a long time ago, I still had all my documentation on it until that finally was given away just last month... which made me really push to get the new game.

I must say it is real nice to sit down to a REAL strategy game again after playing so many other types over the years. That being said, nice to be here.

I'm alex and I'm a retired computer guy.
Been a big fan of Civ games from the beginning.
Retirement just gives me more time for this sort of thing.
Civ IV is pretty cool and I'm looking foward to mods.

Don't wish that!!

Hi, I am a newbie in this forum, but i've played civ since 1994 (Civ 1 and 2 and 3). I got civ 4 for christmas by my wife. Isn't she sweet, keeping in mind the 100's of hours i've been sitting at the computer playing civ!
I installed civ 4 Christmas day, and I was so disappointed, I almost cried:cry: . It's a shame: so many hours and money spent on developing civ 4, and the only thing civ 4 has in common with the Civilization-heritage is the name!!!
I've tried to play civ 4 app. 2½ times, but I can't play it.. It's to different:sad: .
Enjoy your civ 3 game, and don't think about civ 4. I'm back playing civ3:goodjob: .

I study economics in between cIV sessions. I played civ2, but did not really get into civ3. Just when I was starting to play civ3, cIV came out. Now I'm hooked, and when I'm not playing I'm here reading about strategies.

I am new to civ 4 from civ 2. In my first game, I cannot buy a unit in production like I could in civ 2. I've got lots of gold but I can't figure out how to make the buy. What's the deal?

You need Universal Suffrage civic.

This is my 2nd post, I have been a Civ casual player since Civ I (DOS!). After half a dozen Civ4 games IMHO this is by far the best enjoyable version of the game.

MY question would be: what does the "Planet" map type found on the scenario menu look like? Strictly, it's a world builder save, not a map script, but is it playable? Does it look like "Terra" map script? Any hints?

hey i just wanted to say i have playef civ for years. i started on the supper NES and was hooked but i just recently got online it is great. i hated always doing the work to make a scenerio the way i wanted it is nice be able to try new ones without always having to invest days at it

Hello, everyone. I have been looking for a new game for a some time. I'm a great friend of strategy, escepially turn-based strategy. So, this game looks like perfect for me. Going to buy it very, very soon. ( I should have bought it already :mischief: )

BTW - out of interest, I joined Civfanatics a couple of months before the release of Civ3 - the interesting thing is that I had just rediscovered Civ-II, and was looking for some strategies for it - I was completely oblivious to the fact that there was a Civ3 in production, and it wasn't until I came here that I found out about it! Anyone else like that for C-IV?

Yep - I happened to purchase Civ 3 on a lark, the day that Civ 4 came out. Just picked up 4 yesterday - the people on the Civ 3 forums are EXTREMELY helpful, and I'm sure that I'll have the same luck here! :scan:

I have been lurking here off and on, and just wanted to say thanks for all the helpful ideas I have seen here.

I got from being smashed into atoms at the cheiftan leve to winning the noble level. Plus I figured how to do culture flips of cities here. Way cool.

and now back to lurk and learn mode.

Hello I'm not generally new to Civ.
When I was young I played Civ1, later near the end of highschool I played the downloaded Civ3 demo.
I recently bought Civ 4 and I want to get into online play for a fun learning experience.
If you want to help
my email is the-sargent@hotmail.com

Hi everyone. I'm sixteen, I've been playing Civ since I was 5. I started with Civ 2, then of course Alpha Centuria and Call to Power, Civ 3, and now the best of all Civ 4. I recently went back and played Civ 1, it was insteresting to say the least.

May favorite nation to play is Russia as Peter. I also like America as Roosevelt.

Hello all

I have had all four Civs and had trouble getting away from them each time.
I love Civ IV but may go pick up a copy of Civ 3 for the great time I had making all the mods to units etc. lol

Hello all Civ fans!
I am a 33 years old man from Norway.
I have been playing Civ since the very first game. Two years ago I switched to Mac, and have since had problems finding any decent games. I just recieved my copy of Civ 3 Complete from Aspyr and am looking forward to renewing my addiction. Unfortunately I soon found that there are some annoying problems with the Mac version. I hope that there is a patch/upgrade coming soon.
So long for now.

I'm new, my boyfriend got me hooked to civ 4... if only I had a better computer to play the game at my house.
