New to this board, although an active CIV guy since day one.

Bought CivIV Complete and am having problems. I installed it using the cd-rom, and it shows installaion complete. It refused to run, however giving the parameter video error. It referred me in the book to go the 2ykgame.com site and download the patch.

Sooooo, being a good boy, I went to 2yk and their patch download, only to get a page of MySql error. Sigh...so went to Firaxis, downloaded the latest patch, and tried to install, only to get an error message saying that there was no prior version found on my pc of CivIV. Same occurred with trying to install patch for BTS and Warlords. Did not bother to install Colonization yet.

Went into My Computer, and cd installation existed. Uninstalled all and reinstalled all, and tried patches again but same story, previous version of CivIV not found...

I am running XP on my netbook, with service pack 3, and more than meet minimum requirements to use. Graphics card is Mobile Intel 945 Express Chip, and all hardware drivers were fully updated. Using single drive, non partitioned, and have no clue what is wrong here. Course their tech support has ignored me.

Would really love to play this, but any suggestions? What did I do wrong besides follow the directions?

Thanks in advance and hope to be posting more and downloading all your great scenarios and mods soon. Can't wait til CivV, but am a little more than skeptical because of these problems.

As a student programmer, I got into civfanatics to learn how to mod, (with Yakk's guide, I did my first basic XML mod, a thrill at this point) and I have a lot to learn from the Civ fan community and other modders in general. Yes, I did play Pong as a kid, and I've been a game nut ever since!

Hi im kinda new and I was wondering whether if this Civilization was for me... I have played Civilization Revolution on the consoles, I liked it very much but there was no depth and adaptability and now i was wondering whether i should try the "original" format civs. can anyone tell me which is the best civilization game for this

Hello, fellow Civfanatics!

I'm settlervstank! I'm a bit of a n00b at modding, but i have done some simple ones! at the time of writing, I'm waiting for my first upload to be approved!

The first Civ game i played was Civ 3. I really didn't know what I was supposed to be doing, but it was fun.By the time Civ 4 came out, I had a good idea how to play.

I found out about this site right around the time i bought this game the day it was available, and from then on i lost my game, and reinstalled it twice. Before then I don't know why, but I played a crap load of Civilization Call to Power and like it, I won't admit that i like Civilization 3 , because i didn't, at least not as much as two of my friends, but I will say Civilization IV is probably the best Civilization yet. I am a HUGE fan of this game and the rest of Sid Miers's other games, more for civilization. I'm going to say though, I love cheating and downloading extra things, but when I wanna have fun I just use addons, and no cheating, although whatever I can do to make the game bigger, longer, and more fun, I'll do almost immediately. (Btw I don't have Beyond The Sword, and I wanna create a new mod, but i cant seem to find out how to do it without Beyond The Sword, is there any other way?)

Hi PEACE,

I was just passing by and saw your post. I had a similar error once upon a time. Turns out I had to install an older patch version before the latest one, then install the latest one. IE, if you can install 3.17 first, then try 3.19 (if you have Complete / BTS). That worked for me.

Civfanatics has the individual patches here. Hope that helps!
