WH Mod Expansion Discussion

Sorry for coming up with an idea that might not be appropriate for this patch, but I just thought of the idea of having 4 wonders under "Elementalism", each an altar of the 4 respective elements, earth, air, water and fire. Each of them could have a special bonus like the Palace of the Caliph AND producing an element each***round.
The names could be changed to something more interesting (or keep the Caliph name on one of them).
As far as I know only the earth elemental is made so therefore this is somewhat far fetched (2.04--> stuff?) :mischief:

Also:
-Altar of Earth: 50% extra shields and an earth elemental each 8 rounds

-Altar of Water: 1 extra commerce in water tiles (like seafarers guild) and a water elemental every 6? rounds (more frequent than earth): Water elementals: Naval, pure combat unit.

-Altar of Fire : 50% Science bonus and a fire elemental every 4? rounds: Fire elemental: High attack and 0-bombard (with xtra ROF (2?) simulating the scorching heat).

-Altar of Air: +1 Naval movement (replacing wind mastery?) and produces an air elemental every 2? rounds (or higher). Weaker, but very fast flying unit.

The core should be different costs, bonus and recruiting rate due to the difference of the four elements.

Just a though, and sorry Mr. Do for posting here, but I though it might be possible to achieve within this patch if the graphichs were available :mischief:

Best regards. Frosty

Here's a list of the colours (sorry for the rather non-descriptive names):

Reikland Red
Westerland Airforce blue
Bretonnia Leaf Green
Kislev Milk Chokolate
Tilea Old Gold
Estalia Sunflower yellow
Norsca Slate blue
Albion Dark green
Sylvania Dark blue
Araby Pale green
Khemri Yellow
Cathay Pale purple
Nippon Blood red
Ungols Purple
Dolgans Brown wood
Ind Gray
Karaz-Ankor Blue
Ulthuan Light blue
Naggaroth Dark purple
Loren Green
Ironclaw orcs Black
Redeye goblins Dark brown
Chaos Dark red
Slann Turquoise green
Amazons Yellowish green
Lahmia Orange

I also suggest pink for hte amazones. Pastel purple, for Ind (or perhaps a rich brown hue)and as suggested Magenta (darker) for the Chaos dwarves. Lahmias are more brown-orange which looks nice.
Then the lime green should be available again.
I think Nippon and the Reik are too similar. Perhaps Limegreen for Nippon?

You know, you can make your own Civ colors. There is a Link in Rhye's signature.

Yes i have often mistook Nippon for Reikland.
Also should the Ungols be Purple? Or are they purple loving Barbarians?

:crazyeye: I totally agree Tyrion. Purple is not a barbarian colour.

Purple should rather go to the Chaos Dwarves.
The Norse also have a similar hue which doesn't look too warlike. They should perhaps have had the blue the dwarves have now. But then, what about the dwarves?

The ungols should rather have a tertiary colour, brownish or so.

Just one more thing regarding the elementalism-post above.

We could use aaglos djinn for air-elemental and his lava elemental as the fire one.

Sure. It's been a long time since I played Warhammer Fantasy Battle (or roleplay).
But where does for instance the Palace of the Caliph Wizard come in?

Are all the wonders related to the game somehow?

About the different elementals - I don't think it is necessary to have them all. Besides, the lava elemental is to be used for chaos dwarfs.

If I've understood correctly the words of Embryodead himself, there is absolutely nothing in WH 2.0, that is not (has not been sometime in the past) appeared in some incarnation of Warhammer Fantasy Battle.

So, as a guideline, if it hasn't ever been included in any incarnation of WHFB, it won't be in th mod either.

Sure, that makes sense, and also makes it easier to restrict the ideas :)

Great lava elemental by the way. Will that be included under Elementalism perhaps?
It could have a 0-range bombard with rate of fire=2 to represent it's burning heat scorching its opponents? Or what do you think?

Mr. Do mentioned in the first post, that it would be included in summoning (since I think that the elementals are some sort of summons).

And stats? I think it should have a defensive bombard, but I won't lose my sleep if it doesn't. And the stats can be discussed later, when we enter the phase of playtesting WH3.0 (?) :) .

Yes, I look forward to the playtesting. I have already changed many rules now, but will have to start over again when the new patch comes :)

This might help with the colour code

Workers are on Desert

Question ... can't recall with this game but are the unit colours automatically the same as boarders ... sometimes boarders can be difficult to see ...

Yes, the borders are the same colour as the civ colour. And I agree, that some borders are sometimes hard to see. Maybe we could either use some existing cool border graphic, or create our own :)

And thanks for making the civ-colour preview - I was too lazy to do it myself

And I still think that the pink (a.k.a. magenta) would fit PERFECTLY for chaos dwarfs  - Just look at these beauties

My pleasure :hatsoff: ... just a visual aid ;)

I'm assuming my impresion is correct in that this update version will result in very few units being shared ... my guess then, if any they would be human

It seems then that colour is more important to differentiate between human civilisations and I guess the various non-human factions from each other ... so keep that in mind when suggesting a pallet change

Chaos dwarfs a radioactive pink  would fit their mutational origins ... maybe all chaotic units could have a flourescent indicator ... EDIT - they look great can't wait to play them

I like the idea of a new or at least different, easier to read boarder graphic ...

Just my thoughts for a great mod :goodjob:

At what stage is the update at ... and is there anything we can do to assist in the process ...

I think the Chaos dwarves would look even better with a darker hue. So giving them the Ungols present colour would be great :)
I think red, dark blue, dark purple or purple are the only suitable colours for the CD, but the Ungols could br changed to another lighter colour. My suggestion for colours are:

Amazones: (Light) Pink
Chaos Dwarves: Deep Purple (Current Ungols, perhaps a bit darker?)
Ungols: Tileas current yellow
Tilea: Light Green
Ind: Anything but Grey. Grey isn't a colour and is just dull :(
(Black isn't a colour either but suits the orcs well)
Araby could have a more yellowish light pastel (green doesn't suit them I think)

But Enough. People could discuss this for a long time and never agree. If you like to swap colours it' easy to swap colours or the palette.pcx file anyway.

Great image of the Chaos dwarves Aaglo :D
Could you perhaps post a larger version. That would have been great. :goodjob:

@CyberChrist; Good point.

I've decided to post my way of specifing a Chaos God (more so people can point out errors before they turn up in my games, than for including it in the mod)

It requires 5 buildings

1) "Mark of Chaos" With the chaos gods tech. Very cheap, produces culture (thus uncapturable) requires palace (so you can only build 1) and has "replace any improvement with this flag marked". Becomes obsolete with Astrology.

2-5) "Mark of Such-and-Such" Can be put with any tech (though spread them out or have them as NONE - to many in one tech looks ugly), produces culture, has "replace any improvement with this flag marked" and requires the "Mark of Chaos". has improvements depending on God (i have Khornes as barracks Tzeentch as library etc...)

Thus you can only have one Gods "Mark" at any one time, and once you discover astrology you can no longer build the "Mark of Chaos" and have stay with whatever god you've got for the rest of the Game.

You then have God- specific Small wonders later on that require the particular "Mark" building.

These extra improvements can boost chaos performance in the early game when the lack of techs can hurt. Stuff being limited to the capital can be annoying, but I think if you loose your capital your probably falling in your gods favour anyway ;) .

So anyway, is there anything about this set up which I've missed?
