WH Mod Expansion Discussion

not really. i've set mine up so i've got four temples for the four gods, each as an improvement with the 'replace' flag flagged, and all requiring the chaos gate. each temple produces the greater daemon associated with each god: bloodthirster=khorne, great unclean one=nurgle, lord of change=tzeentch, keeper of secrets=slaanesh.

only problem with this is how to make each daemon advantageous in some way..

There's no need to have the Chaos choose a particular god to worship, although it is a nice idea. LMR!'s temples requiring the Chaos Gate is also a nice touch, but of course without graphics for two of the Greater Daemons they won't be put into the mod at this stage either.

It's not a hint, it's a simple fact :P I've already asked for them outright before, but they're too complex to really expect them to be made at any time. No matter though!

Meant to thank you guys for going through the colours issue by yourselves, it's helpful for me not to really have to think about things like that. Of courseI still retain an, ahem, "executive veto". For example, that pink looks hideous on the Chaos Dwarfs- but what about an orangey colour? It'd fit the Hobgoblins at least. Personally I put them in as that boring grey because they're all industrious and also because then I'd only have to worry about them clashing with Inja, but let's face it, who adds the Ind to the list of civs they play against? ;)

i've put the keeper of secrets (slaanesh greater daemon) in Kinboat's lottery, so maybe.. just maybe.. it'll get made :)

i wasn't really expecting you to put the temples idea in, coz i guess that'll take a lot of reworking to balance the game again. i would vote grey for the chaos dwarves too

Well, since I always alter all mods to allow max amount of available (playable) nations to be played on all map sizes - then I would face them all in every game ;)

Yeah same here... they always seem to pop up.
If we could make Nippons more orangy Reiklands more bright red than we couldhave the CD as a dark scabby red.

EDIT: Yay 1000th post. Mmmm

Well I was thinking we could give the Ind another colour and the CD's grey- aren't India in Civ 3 pink? If so it would fit to put them as that colour.

Also, there's two other things I would like to "delegate":
1) With a mind to making my own, how do I edit an installer like the one ED has been using?
2) Does anyone know what that program is that lets you do things like re-order the unit listings, and if so, can someone either get to grips with it so they'll be able to professionalise the final version of the mod, or tell me how to use it?

I looked into that but I've lost the adress. Anyhoo, if you run the WH 2.0 installer it will tell you the web-adress in the end of it. If you go to the adress, you can download the installer software and read the very simple manual.

I see no need to change all the civ colours around, that's easy to do yourself if you want, I've done it with my copy. :)

2: It's a program by Gramphos called Civ 3 Multi Tool. It's quite easy to work with IMO, I've used it quite a lot for my personal mod.

I must admit I am bit puzzled by this desire to change/shuffle all the civ colors in this mod. Isn't this kind of in violation with the "don't go against ED's vision" credo? Isn't some of the current colors used carefully 'mixed' and assigned by ED himself?

Sure, the new civ(s) need a color of their own, but I am certain that one could be found that are not already in the mod and fitting the new civ(s) without making any other changes :)

One good thing about getting the colour screenie was to open the game file ... consequently I started a game ... first one as the dwarves ...

Question - Both settler and worker share the same graphic ? ... Will the settler have a unique graphic in the next version ...
I got a little confused when I tried to rectify sending 2 settlers to same city site ... :crazyeye: had trouble finding them as they were both traveling through areas of intensive agricultural and mining projects ... :)

You're right CyberChrist, so I did a little bit of work from the helpful pointer Goldflash gave earlier and took one of Rhye's extra colours. So the Chaos Dwarves now have an orange civ colour, and all the rest remain as-is. Not that I particualrly think it would have been against ED's vision to messa round with some of the colours though.

Dwarf settler and worker will stay the same for now, unless anyone decides to make a dwarf settler unit (Hmm, such a unit could be quite characterful). The new Dwarf miner unit aaglo made is in the game, but it's as an upgrade for the miner, to let them "paradrop" and be slightly more effective fighters (While the engineer becomes the standard dwarf worker).

I was thinking about this just the other day, and I think that a dwarf settler could be really neat. :) I'm imagining it quite much in the LOTR vein, with a *hat* (darn, is there no good English word for this? Think Santa Claus' hat.;)) and "civilian" clothes.
Like David Wenzel's comic book rendition of The Hobbit.

A very minor graphics detail is that the elf settler is the same as the human ... if anyone were to create a dwarf settler, they could also play with elf ... maybe elongated dwarf ... if the 'santa hatted/hooded' model were to be adopted :) ... First game as high elf race

EDIT: would 'Gnomish' be a fair descriptive for 'santa hat' ?

Hmm well I think I'd rather leave the elves with human settlers than dwarfs, but this might all be a moot point anyway since we don't know if a dwarf settler's gonna pop up anyway.

pangy- I'm not doing anything to the mod until July, as that's when we decided that we'd give ED until before we start butchering his baby (;)). It also works out nicely for me as I got given the boot from my job today and that's when I'll be out of work.

Hooray!
