What’s next? More DLCs or first expansion

I'm not really expecting more DLC Civs before the first expansion is released. Maybe there will be a map pack DLC, but I think Firaxis will have most of its people working on the expansion.

A map pack would be soooooo useful. I don‘t get why they didn‘t release one so far.

Now that DLC06 is out, what can we expect next? Some more DLC to get us through the winter months? Or maybe the first whispers of an expansion pack in the works? And when do you expect these to be realeased?

It’s obvious that the game still pretty rough around the edges and needs some work to really feel complete.

Doesn‘t have to be TSL which would be hard to do with Africa anyway... I liked the scrambled continents maps of civ V.
And we are still lacking very basic random maps like highlands or small continents.

I love the tsl personally but the maps packs from the community are pretty good anyway - the vast majority of my games have been on either the official earth map, the greatest earth map or play europe again,
in days gone by i always loved marlas maps (not sure which civ that was!)

Not sure if im strange or if thats common though.

Well we already have Kongo, Egypt and Nubia. I expect to see Zulu, Mali, Ethiopia, Carthage. Other possibilities are Benin and Morocco again. That would at least put it to 8 Civs. I see it to where why just release a East Asia map and TSL East Asia and not do it for the other regions of the world, barring Australia/Oceania. And this is coming from a person who usually doesn't play TSL maps. I just like completeness.

We will maybe see Zimbabwe or Kilwa/Swahili. Very slight chance for Dahomey, Songhai, Malagasy and South-Africa as well, but quite unlikely. But I expect to see Zulu, Mali, Ethiopia and Carthage back again.

I expect one winter or Australian Summer DLC, and than the expansion for the fall of 2018.

New diplomatic options and a total new unkown system are enough content for an expansion.

Unfortunately if you mean this winter (and not winter 2018), I think we can pretty much rule that out completely as too soon.

Even if they've been working on something in secret and its actually nearing completion, an expansion is something Firaxis will consider worthy of a concerted marketing push to get all the casual players hyped up - the kinds of people who normally wouldn't know a new DLC was coming until after it was released, for example. We'll see an expansion publicly announced at least three or four months before its release date - at this point there just isn't enough time for it to come out before the end of February, even if they announced it tomorrow IMO.
