Im in some tolkien flavour, read silmarrillion, reading taless from middle-earth shall read: Bilbo and the triology...

Ah, The Silmarillion.. one of my all-time favourites. Think i reread it for the 12th or something time a few months ago :)

Currently it's a tie between rereading Pratchett on the bus etc (soul music, small gods, sourcery, equal rites, pyramids and wyrd systems so far.. they are all nicely refreshing after his recent works) and reading Hesse's short stories at home.

Right now I'm reading The Tempest. This book is the epitome of a waste of time. Whoever came up with the idea of reading plays should be shot.

The Last Full Measure by Jeff Shaara
Journey to the Centre of the Earth by Jules Verne
Institutes of the Christian Religion by John Calvin
The Bible by everyone who wrote the Bible
and a book by a friend of mine

I really need to finish something. :crazyeye:

Have you read my novel? It stinks but you can get through it in probably an hour or so . . .

No, I don't think I have. I remember your description of it somewhat, though. It's about first contact right? :)

Actually.... I enjoy reading plays a lot.. often more than actually seeing them performed :crazyeye: I guess something's wrong with my theatre sense

All the power to you man ;) It bores me to death, and frustrates me that English professors love the whole intellectual eliteness of the "Shakespeare factor" or whatever, when logically plays should be performed, not read. If some scholarly translator would take it upon themselves to transform all the plays into actual novels then sure, but reading plays is just nonsense.

Thinking Skills -John Butterworth and Geoff Thwaites (in preparation for AICE examinations)

Animal Farm, 1984 and Heart of Darkness. All 3 have to be read by May. :ack:

I envy you, reading those for the first time.

I just finished plowing through The Gulag Archipelago for the second time, am starting "The House on the Embankment" by Trifonov (for the first time).

Recently read "The Foundation Pit" (Kotlavan in Russian) by Platonov. Excellent, and highly recommended.

Have indeed read Lord of the Flies, truckingpete. Liked it. What do you think so far?

a book about words and a collection of short stories
