So Happy I Could Die
The Dutch Swiss Pike Mercenaries. Bring those across as say strength 8 and you could walk through armies of knights, just as they did historically.
Chinese riders, free ancient cavalry and those fort building crusader knights were great fun too. Having bad memories about dromons sinking my galleys, can't say I miss those.
Well, Landsknechts does a good job like that, else, Papal Guards in Charlgemagne mod. Although I agree, they are awesome

I miss getting Mech Inf. with LABOR UNION!!
Alpine Troops and good ol' Fanatics! Aaah, the glorious days of Fundamentalism...![]()
Oh yes, Fanatics...

Alpine Troops and Caravans!! And adding my settlers to cities, although, that's more of an ability than a unit...
I also miss my Phalanx holding their own against a Battleship waaaaaay back in the day. Is it wrong that spears beat a modern marvel? Yes, but it felt good!! Ahh, the good ole days..... (Do I still have CIV I and a 386 somewhere?)
CIV I comes for XP with the Chronicles pack (Civ I, II, III and IV, expansions for II and III).
Civ 3 Privateer. Put 2/3 near a barb settlement and watch your navy steadily growing.....
Arh, the civ3 privateers. Mean motherf****rs, were they. Especially in the new world map...
They Mayan Javelin Thrower from Conquests with it's enslavement ability.
Mhm, combined with SACRIFICES!

I miss the partisans & fanatics from Civ 2. How nasty to conquer a city and have fantics destroying everything nearby!
I also miss the Howitzer... though it was way too powerful!
I miss the F-15 for the American civ
Howitzers were so nice. Maybe a bit too good, though, but as long as you get there first...

What about battleships that could kill city garrisoned units? ^^
not when it's defended by a phalanx!

I miss the barbarian diplomats!! Good easy 50$!!
I miss the ability of trireme to try sailing in the ocean (and often sink, by the way).
And, first of all, I miss those hilarious smiles that enemy leaders showed you when proposing a peace treaty, in CIV1.![]()
The trireme thing was nice, but wouldn't really fit in in CIV 4, I am afraid. Haven't noticed smilies in Civ I? I always kill off the enemies early or leave them be, so maybe thats why

I miss the CivIII infantry the most.
![]()
It was just a little more universal than civIV's. Now all civs infantry look like Americans with M1s!
Agree, wonderful unit. Would kick riflemen out of the scene at any given day of the week.
Hehe, didnt play any other civ in civ2, really loved the babylonians (inspired by the hanging gardens way before i even knew what Civilization was). Too bad they didnt quite live up to the standards in Civ3 and Civ4![]()
Nah, in Civ 3 they were okay, its just civ4BtS that does it, theyre really bad now
