What connotes a liberal bias?

Reality has a liberal bias. ;)

(Well, until 2008 it does.)

Media has always slanted against the government in power, as Mesoy said until 2008 when should a Democrat get voted in then it will have a Republican bias, that's the way it has always been?

When papers of a conservative nature decry a government such as the Sun(paragon of the truth that it is ;) ) you knew it was a cold day for the Conservatives and they were not long for power. If a government sucks then people start driving knives in and it seems like it's biased because it is; let me say though it is the governement itself that provides the meat for the bias, it does not exist in a vaccuum(believe it or not people generally have to have reason to decry a government and even more to turn against it) The governement aren't doing anything to disuade anyone atm as far as I can see, they aren't listening to criticism foriegn and domestic are they? Surely you could make a case that they therefore deserve it?

It's all patently obvious why bias exists, if your a successful government then there is less criticism and less bias, if your not then the circling pack and even some of your alies will turn on you. blah blah blah it's just human nature:rolleyes: it's payback for the lies and corruption, you can whinge about it all you like but although there's rather too much smoke for my liking and you can take much of it as overblown reaction, there is no smoke without fire and the the consistency of misgovernment fuels that fire.

But the word "liberal" has come to mean leftist , so that is very definitely not the sense you meant .

I think that the dictionary definition encapsulates the ideals of most "liberals" quite nicely. But then again, everyone knows that the dictionary has a strong liberal bias. :D

4 - Good media SHOULD look biased

The trick is, this bias should be variable.. [...]

For that reason, if the democrats are in power, good media would likely appear to have some sort of republican leaning, and with republicans in power, good media would likely appear to have some sort of democrat leaning.

You mean the media should be  (gasp, horror) watchdogs?!

Zardnaar implies that in New Zealand, the media actually are. I think I'll go there and kidnap a bunch of journalists and drag them to America. :mischief:

I do not know.

I do know that both liberals and conservatives moan about bias either left or right, when the media has neither.

The media simply has a sensationalist bias. A byproduct of privatized news services.
