I'm pretty sure this has been covered before, but what difficulty do you guys play on regularly?

As for me, I play on Deity, which is a big surprise for me. Despite having played Civ3 for well over 4 years and having logged countless hours of playing time, I have yet to beat Deity. Civ5, I have played much less and yet beat Deity for the first time 3 months after it was released. It has become slightly more difficult with each patch, but I still continue to win.

I remember that there was a poll before the game was released that asked how long you thought it would take you to beat the highest difficulty. I chose 2+ years, boy was I wrong.

And please be polite. This is a poll, not the rants thread.

If i want to test some new strategy i play prince. But currently i playing on king because i still strugle with the happiness wich is different from civ 4.

And i olso just started with civilization in general a year ago sow.

But i found king a little bid easy sow i thinx i crank it up a little

Immortal - or emperor when I want to really fart around. Immortal is challenging enough to be engaging without being overly annoying.

King - Prince got too easy after a while, and I only get to play a few hours every couple of days so I don't have the concentration/length of time to play at the higher levels as I forget too much between sessions.

I'm at King right now. I'll probably move up pretty soon since I've won my last 3 games on King, but I always take forever to move up in difficulty when it comes to any Civ game (mainly because of laziness and not feeling like doing it). Right now it's not a guarantee win but I'm always on top or close to it. Semi-challenging but not a pushover.

I can consistently win on Deity without house rules.

But I just feel "icky" with some of the stuff I have to do, I found Immortal is my "sweet spot" with current self-restrictions.

(Started a lot lower.)

Voted Prince but sort of going through the internal upgrade to play King. I'm too lazy to concentrate enough at the harder levels. I kind of Civ for mindless entertainment rather than complex challenge. "Click click click....OPPS! <reload>"

To each his own......

Mostly play on King or Emperor now. That's after I removed RAs from my game though, which makes a big difference when you can't cheesily keep up in tech on the highest levels.

Played Emperor so far but recently moved up to Immortal. (I'll see whether or not I will keep this difficulty level.)

I lost the first games but do quite well in my current game. It was quite a leap, as I think.
Do you think, there are some "sonic walls" between certain levels or is it an equal increase in difficulty?

For the game to give me a challenge I play at Immortal.

I've tried Deity a few times, but I better figure out Imm before I call myself a player.

Prince, having recently moved up from Warlord. Thinking of going up to King but all my attempts have been met with a thouragh smooshing of me by the AI D:

Emperor. I can win on immortal but it's not as fun, I don't like relying on RA blocking & such tricks.

I play on prince if I want to have fun and not worry about playing well. I up the difficulty to king when I'm looking for more of a challenge, but anything above king gets too difficult to be enjoyable to me.

Just moved from emperor to immortal.

I doubt this is representative of the whole of people playing civ 5. The general standard of people reading these forums is at least 1 or 2 difficulty levels above the average player I suspect.
