What does your voice sound like in real life?

I sound much cooler in my head than I do in reality.

I dunno how i sound. I better ask someone.

I was once told i have a voice as if i tell everyone i meet to "fu** off". I'm not sure how i should interpret that. :crazyeye:

All i could say about my voice is that it has quite a low volume ...

I don't really know. I perceive it as being somewhat deep. I try to limit how much I need to talk because I hate my voice.

Think velvet. Think molten dark chocolate. Think of the poise and self-assured tones of a newsbroacaster. Then you're getting close.

I have a deep clear voice and get told all the time I should be in radio.
I'm sure you'd look great on radio.

How about that every one posts a sample
 But that would be different. You voice sonds in RL very different from how it sounds on the phone/recorded.

(plus, i don't have a microphone :()

i definitely do not sound like the stereotypical New Jerseyan...and that is the 'wise guy w/ connections' accent. as a matter of fact, that stereotype is almost insulting.

i do not have a philly accent either.

i guess we here in SE NJ have our own accent. but nothing close to a NY/north Jersey accent - probably closer to a philly one if anything :)

Depends on the occasion. When I get caught mid-thought, I lapse into a higher, nasal voice, but otherwise I tend to use the rhetorical chest-voice.

I make Barry White sound like Michael Jackson.

I can tell you three voices in this thread. Ram, Davo and El J.
Ram--words flutter out of your mouth. It's lovely, really.
Davo--it's the laugh. Very sinister.
El J--Fuhgetaboutit.

I would describe mine as a "nasally, diaphragm gay" with a Chicago "tree" (4 minus 1) accent.

A middling baritone, not particularly resonant, but not squeaky or tremulous either. I also have a strong falsetto range (which most people don't get to hear, of course).

Canadians often mistake me for English or Scottish, and even some Englishmen I've met at first assume by my accent that I'm English. I conclude that my inflection would probably sound foreign to everyone here. I have noticed that I sometimes adopt a more typical Canadian accent when I'm around male childhood friends, which is mostly a matter of hardening the "r"s, eliding some common words and endings (goin, wanna, Ad:no, etc.), broadening the vowels, and speaking more quickly.

Oh darling, you just say the sweetest things.

(Cheque's in the post mate).
El J--Fuhgetaboutit.
 That's not far off, he's a pretty laid back dude. But it changes when he gets going on something (like which cheese steak joint is the best, for example).

True, but there's something of the baseball commentator in there somewhere too, just waiting to get out.
